Stern has found a way to survive, which has been cutbacks. These threads are so old, but those of you have been around at least over a year and a half will confirm that another type of thread, "how much longer does Stern have / How much longer will they stay in business", is completely gone. What does that tell you of their business decisions?
Stern is a MAJOR reason pinball is what it is today. Each of us is lucky and have benefitted from them making machines, directly or indirectly. I know people have had problems, but people had problems with b/w machines as well. Read up on the fiasco when Popeye came out, and how the operators threatened lawsuits against Williams - in the middle of the 90s hayday of pinball.
It's funny how people point out the lessor quality of Sterns, but clearly don't know that this is how it's always been. Data East machines were always by far inferior in manufacturing than b/w machines - starting over 20 years ago.
...until next month's thread.
