Stern needs to fix Star Trek, and make it a complete game.
It is sad Steve admitted at a tradeshow in November that Star Trek is a train wreck.
They need to give us results instead of excuses.
Stern's accountability and customer service are poor.
They need to give us a timeline for completion instead of talking about the problems.
Please voice your complaints here.

We are tired of waiting, and don't want your poor excuses.
Stern's talk is cheap.
We want action.
We want our finished code!!!

#3 9 years ago

We need to boycott new Stern pins until code is at an acceptable level.

-1
#6 9 years ago

Pins are expensive, and the code is a train wreck after a year.
Steve talks about the problems, but doesn't give us a plan for fixing the code.
If this was a car, Stern would have to fix their product.

#9 9 years ago
Quoted from PW79:

Stop buying incomplete shit

1st and last nib pin.
I am thinking about selling it, and buying a 90s game.

-9
#10 9 years ago

Pins from the 90s or older are like classic cars.
Newer pins are all about bells and whistles, but lack substance.

#11 9 years ago

I hope Steve visits this site, and reads the posts.
He might feel embarrassed by the situation, and finally fix the code.
Steve should be ashamed of his product.

-5
#18 9 years ago
Quoted from TomGWI:

STeve can't fix the code. He is not a programmer. He designs the game. Please do not put the blame on him. The programmers are the ones that need to fix the situation.

Steve is the project lead, thus he needs to take ownership, and fix the code.
Project leads direct quality control, and allocate software people on a project.
He talks about the problems, but doesn't give us a plan.

#19 9 years ago
Quoted from NinJaBooT:

I use to think the same but have since found myself playing the $hit outta some newer Stern titles as of late. I'm really liking ACDC Pro and IMV. To say Stern games lack substance wouldn't be fair at all. STPro is a solid game as well.

Not all newer pins are bad.
Most newer pins are low on the top 100 list.
For every ACDC, there are 10 mediocre pins lacking good code.

#21 9 years ago
Quoted from beatmaster:

rince and repeat.
i don't hope for anything anymore, nothing will change as long as people still buy them.
it's that simple.

That is sad.
I am not buying another nib.
I might sell Star Trek.
Twilight Zone would be a good replacement.

#24 9 years ago
Quoted from Rob_G:

It appears he can't allocate what he is not given. Namely programming resources. There appears to be little to no passion from the programmers to get this done, let alone done right.
Rob

That is sad.
Star Trek is a big franchise name.
There are features not being utilized on the LE.
Stern owes the customers an explanation and plan.
If more people would complain on their sites or call their HQ, Stern might finally fix the code.
The squeekiest wheel gets the oil.
People need to complain, and deserve to complain because of the poor customer service for their products.

#26 9 years ago

Stern Pinball
708.345.7700
Call and complain about the code because you paid for it.

#27 9 years ago

I have called them, and sent messages to their Facebook mail.

#29 9 years ago

We need to hold them accountable for their products.

#31 9 years ago
Quoted from Rob_G:

Stern should change their motto to:
"STERN PINBALL, INC. is the leading maker of REALLY INCOMPLETE pinball games in the world!"
Rob

Buy our pins, and we will think about completing the code.
Or
Buy our pins, and get finished code in the year 2050.

#33 9 years ago
Quoted from Rob_G:

I appreciate your passion. If we just settle for status quo then that is what Stern will continue to give us. Although I'm not sure what we can do to change anything except letting Stern know we still want our code!
Rob

Call Stern and complain about code status.
If you bought a BMW, and the engine bursts into flames, you would call the dealer.

#34 9 years ago
Quoted from TomGWI:

Does it get you anywhere with them?

I get a generic response about them working on the code.
Masses can accomplish more.
1 complaint they can ignore, but 100 complaints could be a different story.

#37 9 years ago
Quoted from Arcade:

A few days ago Stern posted on their Facebook page a topic of "May all your pinball dreams come true".
Everyone was posting wishes for machines that did not even exist yet, so I posted "Yes, new Code".
It was immediately deleted.
I made a follow up post simply asking why and it was just deleted.
Now I am not looking to start a rehash of the Stern Facebook people deleting whatever they want thread, but this is ridiculous.
My post was in no way a "Knock" against Stern. Just my real pinball wish.
I sent an email to their real web page, but have received no response as of yet.

I would call them.
I did get a response from their Facebook mail service.
I didn't post a message, but sent a message.

#51 9 years ago
Quoted from dung:

You very obviously know nothing about software projects. Once the higher ups say move on to the next project you do. There is no allocating. It does not matter what you want. You do as you are told or you find a new job.

Steve has limits, thus we, the customers, can light up Gary.
We keep his company running, and if we get poor support, we can voice our opinions to his company as one large mass.
If Gary doesn't want to listen to the customers, we stop buying his products.
I encourage everyone to call Stern, and light up Gary.

#52 9 years ago

Stern Pinball

Call and complain about the code because you paid for it.

#54 9 years ago
Quoted from snakesnsparklers:

It's cute that you think Stern gives a shit about threads like these or that you would expect them to take any sort of action based on this posting.

The purpose of this thread is to get people to call Stern, and demand better service.
Phone calls mean a lot more than posts.

#55 9 years ago
Quoted from snakesnsparklers:

It's cute that you think Stern gives a shit about threads like these or that you would expect them to take any sort of action based on this posting. As stated numerous times before, contact them directly if you are unhappy with the product you purchased.

I have contacted them, and encourage others to call them as well.
Customers matter...

#59 9 years ago
Quoted from flashinstinct:

Why don't all you all pitch in some money and get a lawyer letter drafted with all your names on it and send it directly to Gary. That's bound to get some attention. And so you get your point across send Gary a half finished bottle of vodka!

We want our code, not a lawyer.

#71 9 years ago

I am a customer that spent a lot of money, and deserve good service.
Good customer service is hard to find.
They take your money, and give poor support for their products.
Jody the Monkey deleting customer concerns shows that Stern is horrible with customer service.
A good company would take criticism, and build a better product and enhance customer support.
Deleting criticism shows they have no respect for the customer.

#72 9 years ago

In the end they will fail...
Bad customer service only lasts so long.

#91 9 years ago

I contacted Stern on their Facebook about accessories for Star Trek.
Accessories are for pins moving forward.
Nothing for Star Trek.
Steve is the project leader.
Star Trek is his baby, and he directed the development of the game.
He had a lot to say and do with the code, and directed the development of the current version.
He didn't write the code, but this pin has his name on it.
I agree with not buying nib anymore.
First nib and last nib for me.

#92 9 years ago

Stern's next release is Wrestlemania...
It is like a star destroyer plummeting into the Death Star.
They deserve this failure.

#105 9 years ago

I am extremely worried about the update as well.

#162 9 years ago
Quoted from Captain_Kirk:

Funny pic from a user on Facebook. Nice to see Stern respond without banning him.

Untitled.jpg 36 KB

We haven't achieved a victory yet.
We need to keep hammering Stern.
The response seemed generic to me as well.
Keep posting on their Facebook page.
Oorah!!! Oorah!!! Oorah!!! Oorah!!!

We won't stay quiet, and will get our code.

#164 9 years ago
Quoted from Plungemaster:

Funny on stern facebook.
If you are a costumer, bought their pin, and ask for updates, you get banned.
But if you tell you want to buy one, but want are waiting for code. You get an official stern response that they are working on it.
What a way to do business, cant believe it.

It is sad, and I talked extensively about their thin skin.
They delete comments that aren't 100% flattery.
Poor customer service.

#166 9 years ago
Quoted from ZenTron:

"Hi, i was going to buy a dozen Star Treks from my local distributor but i heard someone on the internet say the software was broken. I think his name is Steve Ritchie and im not sure if youve heard of him. Please let me know when the software is fixed so i can submit my order. Thanks"

Love your comment.

#273 9 years ago

I called Stern for code info.
"Soon" was the answer I got from them.
LOL
We need to continue hammering them.
January 31 is a good idea.
I am banned on their site because of a statement asking for a code update, but a group from Pinside showing up at the same time might be harder to ignore.
They have really really really thin skin.

#299 9 years ago

If the T-Shirts get made, people should wear them at the show.
But...
People need to approach Gary and his staff at the show, and have a face to face discussion with them.
Call them out on the poor software updates.
You don't need to yell, scream, or curse at them, but people need to have a serious discussion with them at the show.
You might want to say to them:
I would really like to buy a NIB from your company, but the lack of code is keeping me from buying a NIB.
What are you doing about the lack of code situation?
Why are stated features still not functional?
We are the customers, thus we have a right to have a face to face with them.
Facebook, Pinside, and T-Shirts can be silenced, but they can't silence customers at their booth.

#329 9 years ago

ek77
If you don't like the thread, don't read the thread.
You are the bigger whiner.
Stern owners are tired of the poor update deployment.
We are taking action.

#330 9 years ago

We could lock Gary in a room, and not allow him any vodka, thus make him sober up, and face reality until we get our game code.

#332 9 years ago

This is what I think about Gary's code guarantee...
And anything coming out of Stern Inc.

Official Stern Bullshit Detector

#344 9 years ago

Aurich,

You would get better vibes using the Stern Bullshit Detector.
LOL

#351 9 years ago
Quoted from Aurich:

Nah, those things don't go off around me.

LOL
I meant if your vibes are from a Stern source, the BS Detector would measure the amount of BS from the source.

#353 9 years ago
Quoted from CosmosBandit:

So, a little nervous to step into Halo-Ring with you Pin Vets but I survived Carjackistan et al so I'll submit my 2 cents. I've e-mailed Stern several times, haven't been banned yet, and told them that I thought that the voice calls could use some work also. I know that most of you have more than adequately critiqued the mission starts and flow and I don't have the knowledge to get involved there but will say that just from a new players perspective there are some gaps. It seems to me that your are rocking for a bit and then it goes dead. Hello? A couple minutes later you get on a roll again and everything is fine. Feast or famine from what I've seen. It would be nice to have better sound effects and scoring from the Warp shots, as that can be tough to get several in a row.
On the voice calls, while they advertise a deep database it seems I only hear Keith() and Karl, the Capt., a couple Spock one-liners, and a few words from Scotty and Chekov. And of course, I AM KHAN. Duh. I know it seems trivial but I would like to see some voice call improvement using more Cumberbatch, Weller, and Klingon calls for the darkside.......... And better use of the freaking LASER!!
COSMOS to Vengeance OUT----------

I think you have great ideas, but Stern may give us bupkis.
You didn't get banned because you sent an email.
Facebook messages are a different story.
Did they give you any email responses and info?

#367 9 years ago

Aurich,
We need the BS Detector...
Is the news part of your vibes...
LOL

#368 9 years ago

News sounds good, but we need to keep Gary's feet in the fire.
