If so , Sounds like a Poor year for Stern coming up ...

Still, i bet there's a wrestle mania in your garage at least a couple days in 2015!

    Quoted from frb:

Maybe so, maybe not. This theme is most likely not directed at the collector. I would say a great many of us were bitten with the pinball bug when we were in the 14 year old range. Does a 30 year old theme that we demand appeal to 14 year olds. This is probably marketing gold to attract a new generation to the game. By releasing the theme early they did not drag us on.

Us hobbist account for 600-1k game sales or more on every release. U really think their gearing away from $8million in sales?

U must be part of the marketing team lol

    #105 4 years ago

Gotta feed the beast, like the theme or not!

    #106 4 years ago

Has anyone thought that it might actually be a fun game? I've bought on theme alone and been burned on more then one occasion. I remember the can't miss themes that have been nothing but. WWE as a theme does not do much for me, but could be a really cool sleeper game. The ring could turn out to be a interesting toy don't you think?

    #107 4 years ago

I'm not crazy about wrestling, but even the DE wrestling game is pretty darn fun, tons of shots packed in that wide body.

    #108 4 years ago
    Quoted from TomN:

Has anyone thought that it might actually be a fun game?

I think it could be a lot of fun if done right. Maybe the game really does incorporate wrestlers from all eras of wrestling "an All Stars pin" and the Pro just happens to be the art package featuring the current cast. If the game has all the voices and walk out music for the wrestlers it would be a big plus! It would also be awesome if it featured quotes from some of the all time wrestling managers like Bobby the Brain and Jimmy Hart as well as some of the newer ones like Pall Bearer and Stephanie McMahon.

With that being said, I doubt most of this would happen but I think it is possible to make a wrestling pin that kicks butt! WWF wrestling was an even bigger part of my childhood nostalgia than superheros so the potential is there for Stern to gather a lot of sales if they can create a nostalgia pin. I'm looking forward to more details as well as hopefully playing one in the near future!

I was never a wrestling fan, but I grew up in the 70's and 80's, and I like the old Data East WWF game just for the nostalgia of the classic characters displayed on it. Even though I was not a fan, I was subjected to all these quotes from Hulk Hogan, Randy Macho Man Savage, Roddy Piper, etc. that my friends would say quite often, and you'd see these guys in TV ads, and in print quite a bit. So now even though I wasn't a fan of the WWF back then, from a nostalgia point of view, the old Data East machine is pretty cool. I don't feel the same about the modern pro wrestling world.

That being said, the playfield almost looks like it has a mini wrestling ring in it at the top of the playfield. It's hard to see, so maybe I'm seeing something wrong. My interest is piqued as far as the playfield layout goes and this potential wrestling ring, and who knows, it may be fun to shoot. I really wouldn't want one in my collection unless it was based on classic WWF characters, but I'd play this on location as long as one of my buddies looked out for me to ensure nobody saw me playing it, LOL.

When are people going to speak up! To you all that really , truly love stern pinball please keep an open mind. My opinion, I'm tired of the poor themes, now WWE! how much money did stern get for this advertisement.
Its a big promo just like many other bad titles , when are we going to get real great themes like bally and Williams did in the past, Consider the technology we have these days , imagine if they actually tried hard and came up with a cool all around tittle, instead having a Briefcase knocking on their door.

    Great quotes over there.

"I'm glad you're shedding light on the long-standing pinball vs. wrestling feud."
"It's a shame we can't build bridges between these two communities, we have so much in common."

    #117 4 years ago

Since I haven't watched any wrestling in a very long time, I have no idea what happens now. However, based on how things used to be, seems like you could do a lot of pretty funny/campy stuff with this theme. The question is whether WWF or WWE or WABC or WXYZ or whoever holds the license would allow it. I remember, over 45 years ago, we went to a wrestling match for a friend's birthday. I swear after 5 minutes, none of us were watching the match. We were mesmerized by the crowd getting whipped into a frenzy. Now we were probably 11 or 12 and even at that age understood the 'showmanship' of professional wrestling. No doubt there were some 'plants' in the crowd, but people took this stuff seriously. (We also went to a roller derby for someone's birthday. It was the same crowd.)

I'd be curious to know how over-the-top and humorous they can take this or if they even went that direction. Personally, I'd be much more interested in the over-the-top, campy version.

Pics off the game that are circulating. And Press Release.

MELROSE PARK, Ill., Jan. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Stern Pinball, Inc., the world's oldest and largest producer of arcade-quality pinball games, introduced today the new WWE Wrestlemania pinball machine at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2015) in Las Vegas, Nevada. WWE Wrestlemania will be available in both Pro and Limited Edition models.

WWE Wrestlemania calls players into the ring as WWE superstars embarking on a quest to become the WWE worldwide heavyweight champion. Players train their wrestlers and then compete in a series of matches leading them on the road to Wrestlemania.

The WWE Pro and the Limited Edition machines feature an innovative upper pinball playfield wrestling ring. With the flipper buttons, players control two "Slammer" slingshot-style kickers in the ropes of the ring. Completing the three drop target bank starts a wrestling match. Players rack up points and pin opponents in the ring by shooting into a kick out hole. Keeping the ball in the ring and hitting as many targets as possible will advance players through the match. Multiple ramps guide the ball throughout gameplay, while brilliant lightshows highlight the all LED playfield. Ten licensed songs include intro music for wrestlers that players choose. WWE announcers Jerry "the King" Lawlor and Michael Cole add play by play excitement.

Wrestling legend Hulk Hogan will individually autograph each of the numbered WWE Legends of Wrestlemania Limited Edition (LE) machines on a bottom arch mounted gold plaque. With only 400 autographs available, this collectible must be limited to that number of games. The LE game art features classic WWE stars, of course including Hulk Hogan. Actual WWE wrestling action is projected on the LE's replica "Titantron" playfield level 5.7 inch LCD directly above the ring. The ball is always wild when it comes into contact with the LE's exclusive "Chaos" spinning DISC while a third "Wham! Arm" flipper allows players to knock the ball off a wire ramp.

"The WWE franchise features unique characters and fantastic action sequences that are captured in these pinball machines. WWE Wrestlemania pinball games will appeal to a very large and diverse group of both WWE and pinball fans," said Gary Stern, Chairman and CEO of Stern Pinball. "This game is unique with an innovative wrestling ring and other features that will captivate pinball players of all skill levels."

WWE Wrestlemania is the first pinball machine to feature Stern's recently announced SPIKETM electronics hardware system. The new technology reduces product complexity and simplifies manufacturing, resulting in more reliable and easier-to-service games. SPIKETM is both modular and scalable, accommodating and supporting future designs. Players will quickly appreciate higher quality sound, enhanced illumination effects and a more engaging overall game experience.

At the CES 2015 Stern will also be showing its Star Trek, The Walking Dead, and Ford Mustang pinball machines.

    Pricing and Availability:
WWE Wrestlemania Pro Model: $5,495 (MSRP)

Above the ring, the ring and the base playfield. Although, I don't know if you consider that a true 3 levels as in Haunted House for instance.

WTF is this? Stern, get your heads out of your asses. This had either be the most complex, rule-driven game the world has ever known or get a re-theme immediately. I wouldn't let that machine in my neighborhood, much less my own home. I would have to kick my OWN ass if I somehow ended up with one of these. If you're trying to bring pinball to the mainstream, you just took a step in the wrong direction. I'm usually not very critical, but I mean....

How on earth could Stern let this be the first image of their new pin on the net.

    Seriously. That's very odd

Mustang was like that as well, but it still didn't get a very good response. It's a shame that Trudeau gets stuck with all these non-popular themes, because his playfield designs are all so unique and fun.

OK, that is pretty damn creepy. There's been some pretty weird stuff in wrestling but a guy from the south wearing a sheep's head is hard to beat. Maybe there will be some kind of sheep mode in the game.
