I brought this Trident home for $200. He needs new legs and a lockbar, but everything else is salvageable.

Not a pretty dude, but it's a mirrored backglass - nice!

Never saw a Kraken with biceps and claws before!

Let me be the first to say that the art on this game is ridiculous, but I love it anyway. That "up the nose" shot of Neptune on the backglass is priceless. My son couldn't stop laughing when he saw it.

These rubbers and legs need to go...

...but the cabinet is in decent condition, no water damage in spite of the rust on the legs.

Quoted from neurokinetik:

Maybe it was drawn by Strongbad. Looks a little Trogdor-ish.

When we upgrade the sound on this sucker, we're totally going to use the Trogdor Game music:

The playfield is rough, but the colors are good:

First step in this resto is cleaning the plastics. Soap and water, followed by a long Novus2 session. There were no cracks or scratches at all, but the clear plastic has yellowed with time and nicotine.

What is this crud? What is this crud?

Is that a tentacle, or are you just happy to see me?Is that a tentacle, or are you just happy to see me?

I have a NOS playfield for Stern TRIDENT listed for sale in the Pinside Market

Awesome, PM sent!

How is the restore coming along?

I set it aside to work on a WW playfield swap. Thanks for bumping this thread, I wouldn't have known about the playfield otherwise!

Now that an NOS playfield is on the way, I can try something with the original that I've always wanted to do - sand it down to bare wood, lay down a coats of urethane, and let my artist friend go nuts with it. It also gives me the freedom to try different ways of restoring the sunken inserts.

The NOS playfield has some art-insert misalignment, but I think it'll still make a good replacement. The artwork looks great on it.

Unfortunately, Trident has moved way down the queue. I need to finish Lightning, Whirlwind and JM. I really enjoyed playing the Tridents at SFGE and TPF, so I'm motivated - just got no time.
