    Will there be any SEGA's?

    Yes. They are going in order.

    Different company. Already dismissed this.

    No I have actually had discussion with corporate about this....

    So have I. They are two separate companies. The current Stern Pinball does own the IP of Stern Electronics, but they are separate companies. I believe this is where your confusion is coming from.

    Stern Electronics was created out of the ashes of Chicago Coin in the late 70's, which had gone bankrupt. Gary and his father Sam, bought up the assets of Chicago Coin and created Stern Electronics, which folded in 1984.

    Gary Stern created a company called Pinstar that sold Bally conversions kits. Then, in 1986, with funding from Data East, he opened a new Pinball company. This was sold to Sega for a few years, and then Gary bough the company outright in 1999 and renamed it Stern Pinball. It is this company, Data East/Sega/Stern Pinball, that is celebrating it's 30th anniversary.

    OK....total geek hat on....

    The King Kong "Fun Facts" is flat out wrong. The planes are not G.I. Joe Cobra Condors. Those look like this;
    Cobra_Condor_(resized).jpg

    The actual design is based on the Loral Northrop F-19 Specter design, and made into a model kit by Monogram in 1987. I built a couple of them back in the day. One of my favorite all-time fictional plane designs. That looks like this;

    This has been your fictional aircraft geekery for the day!

    To be fair they never said the were the G.I. Joe Cobra Condors, but were "inspired by" them. Honestly they look like a mix between the 2. The wings sweep forward like the CC which they do not on the F-19. but the cockpit forward looks more like the F-19. Hardly "flat out wrong".

    Quoted from Nelly:

    The wings sweep forward like the CC which they do not on the F-19.

    That's just a trick of the perspective because of the curving anhedral on the lower wings. Here's a direct comparison;

    F19_Views_(resized).jpg

    They're direct copies of the Loral F19s (with missiles added).

    Reminds me of the Pinball Heron Cards I created a year or so ago. Still making them as I add new machines. Linked below

    Yes, they appear at some of the expos, and one guy I know owns one in California.

    Each one is a little different and sometimes have larger flippers.

    The nicest of them all?

    Any chance Stern will list serial number ranges and production runs/numbers? It is the geeky kind of info that many would love to see.

    This really needs to be packaged as a coffee table book--they'd sell a ton of the Pros, a lot of Premiums, and a smattering of LE's...

    It's funny that on the flyer they list the California address which must have been DE headquarters instead of IL.

    Thanks for posting these here. I'm still banned from their Facebook page because Jody doesn't like me.

    We need to negotiate for them to release our people so to speak. There are many of us that got banned for trivial stuff (I'm not banned by the way, just lending a voice in support of them releasing our people, their customers, they have in virtual jail).

    Hook- A Treasure Chest O' Collections! Now who was it that said these aren't an investment?

    #140 4 years ago

    Always loved lw3. Will never get rid of mine.

    #141 4 years ago

    I love Hook! Twice I had the opportunity of buying one, but too bad DE games are so hard to maintain....

    #142 4 years ago

    I bet the Ghostbusters reveal will occur when they get to the present.

    #143 4 years ago

    So I've heard a rumor that the LW3 layout is so close to T2 that even the cutouts on the playfield are almost identical. Did anybody ever verify that by placing 2 blank playfields on to of each other?

    I just gave up on helping spread the word with Facebook. I used to like and share every post they made until they blocked me. Now I can't.

    Its more their loss than mine, so.... *shrug*.

    Lethal Weapon 3: "First ever pinball to take cash"

    Hmm, don't mean to be picky, but "cash" is coins and notes. Should probably be first ever "bill acceptor".

    Just did it by putting 2 IPDB pages next to each other.... Very similar indeed, and now that you mentioned it, I'm starting to think that LW3 may be funnier to play than T2!

    Thanks for comparing the two. Personally i prefer T2 over LW3 as LW3's voicecalls are way too repeatitive for me. Can't hear "They got away" anymore...
