Quoted from jayvo86:That makes me sad as a newcomer to the hobby.
Later in it's run, CV could be had NIB for around $2k. Hey, it's Hump Day!

Quoted from benheck:You can remove the pasteboard bottom to get at the underside of the playfield. It's just as uncomfortable as working under a car, probably more so since you have to reach up.
If I had to work on one of these, I'd take the legs and backbox off (appears easy to do), then set the cabinet on it's side on a sturdy table. Prop it up a bit and open the glass panel, and you can easily get to everything.
Quoted from vid1900:You can't lift the playfield on Hercules either. It can still be serviced.
You guys get very panicky.
Yeah, but Hercules had a elevator you could ride to the center of that giant monster... There the tech team that lived inside would help you through the problem using trained gerbils and super glue.

Just curious about "The Pin" is this completely discontinued or does stern plan on making more games in this style?

I would imagine since they didn't sell well, they don't have plans on continuing. Seems it was mostly a project to cost reduce the electronics (Spike), which ended up being used in the full sized pinballs. Seriously, why would anyone pay $2500-$3k for a 4/5th size pinball machine that looks toy-like with a playfield that's been cost reduced even further? Not to mention the horrible resale value if you ever decide to get rid of it. See every craigslist ad for Flash/evel knievel home edition.. they're worth about 1/6th the value of the real thing.

It's not marketed to pinheads, it is marketed to housewives.
It had to be UPS ship-able.
It had to be light enough for a woman to put the legs and head on.

Housewives don't care about "resale value".
The Pin was sold by Amazon for $2500 delivered. That's a few hundred dollars less than a similar toy, the Super Chexx hockey dome.
Does anyone know if the led's are dimable on the spike system? It's been asked several times in the game of thrones thread and I haven't seen a definitive answer.
Since the pin runs on spike I thought I'd ask here.
Quoted from benheck:Don't see why it couldn't be the test bed for a new system
Called it....2 years ago!!
Quoted from jayvo86:My original idea was to save, but I was conisdering buying a pin since I have two years left here.
On Earth, Pinside, or Japan?
Anyone pick one of the new Spider-Man "the Pin"?
Played one at Stern and it was very interesting and it is for sale at a few retailers.

The shots were insane tight iirc in the middle area. Otherwise seemed fun.

It uses a conventional Spike 1 cpu board and a regular Stern cabinet. Looks like a guy could install a coin door and upgrade the sound from one speaker to three speakers too.
