I disagree:
- Spooky releases a game with zero toys in it other than a ship on a spring, only LEs, and at best ‘OK’ art... Stern gets better and better mechs (Trex eating a ball), releases three tiered models to appeal to Ops and home collectors, and gets great artists to do their games.
- JJP on their last game designs few interactive toys on Wonka, while Stern has been upping their game

I haven’t read through all the reactions but I don’t get the naysayers on this one. It looks awesome:

- we complain about a lack of pinball magic/innovation from Stern, but then you get a projector, multiple physical ball locks, a moving monster behind a drive in movie theater that lowers to form a ramp
- supposedly 40+ modes
Etc etc

It’s like we say we want X, but then say “well it’s gonna be bad when X breaks!” Or “Those modes will be too short I bet!”

Anyway looks awesome to me!

I usually find myself agreeing with you, but not on this one. Looks cool and I like that it projects on spinners and drop targets too. Plus the look works for the drive-in theater vibe anyway - if this were in CFTBL everyone would be praising it.

I think this game will look cool in anyone’s game room.

I know this UV light debacle has pinsiders divided. I’m not a bomb thrower and don’t have an extreme opinion on it. All I can say is I was considering buying a NIB stranger things, and now I am not. I don’t like how this marketing move makes me ‘feel’. You can try to convince me logically it shouldn’t matter - Stern is still selling you a complete game as far as gameplay, it’s just an add on you don’t have to buy, many less cool mods cost this much anyway etc etc. And honestly that all might be true.

But I’m buying an expensive toy. How I feel informs my decision same as any other expensive luxury purchase I buy. And this move makes me feel bad. Clearly I’m not the only one. I can’t tell you whether this will affect Stern’s bottom line. All I can say is that they’ve lost my confidence in their brand as a consumer.

It seems my lifestyle is incongruous with this kind of lifestyle brand.
