If there were no actors on the playfield or backglass people would be screaming that it wasn't really Stranger Things but something in the "Stranger Things universe". As soon as there are actor likenesses approaching anything photo realistic it is complaining about photoshop.
I am no art critic, but I think they struck a good balance from what I have seen, given what they probably had to work with with the licensor. Not mind blowing amazing, but definitely not as clip arty looking as something like Tron, or even Avengers or Star Wars where every character was in a pose that has been seen 1 million times.
Kudos to the marketing team. Features videos, interview with designer, high res shots, live game play stream and people picking up the game all on the same day.
Hope some of the LCD is placeholder. Some of it looks great, other things like the jackpot and ball lock screens not so much.
Quoted from DS_Nadine:If voices are missing in the video clips they'll propably have to synch soundalikes.
I heard voices in one of the clips.
There was voice on some of the clips. They also talked about how voice was being cutoff on some and would be addressed.
It's a projector. Direct overhead lighting is going to wash the picture out. Viewing it from an angle is going to wash it out. Lighting it for a stream/video is going to wash it out. My guess is in a normally lit environment, from the player perspective, it is going to be fine, possibly even great. I am going to reserve judgement until I get to play one in person.
As far as Stern not having the glass in their pins while taking marketing pictures and video, why would you have the glass in there? Ever try to take a photo of something through a window? Is it important to show that the pins will come with glass? Honestly confused as to why this would be an issue.
I think that video was manipulated on the fly by Russian hackers trying to influence Stern pinball purchases. Everyone at Stern is in on it.
Why do that you ask? You heard it here first, Stern is in league with Russian spies, who are supplying the projectors for the pins, which, while too dim to play on, will secretly record your conversations and send them directly to Putin.
For the humor impaired...
I take that as a good sign. Most of this thread was a non stop bitch fest. Maybe folks are just taking a break after the projector turned out to be fine. I expect things will pick up when they find something new to complain about, maybe when the LE starts hitting homes and locations.
I think it is under utilized on the ramps. Although the times when everything was lit up with flames (burn back maybe?) the ramps looked awesome and showed the potential.
Quoted from Airball:Hardy nails Stranger Things coffin.
This is the part that I find crazy. Suddenly a dude with a Youtube show is the final decider of fate for the pin. According to random people on the interwebz TWD was a dud, AC/DC a dud. X-men terrible, Star Wars a waste of money, on and on and on.
All of the above are some of my favorite pins. So I have decided to take the radical approach of actually playing it myself instead of letting others' opinions decide for me. I'll let you all know how it works out so that people don't have to make decisions for themselves.
