Quoted from Shapeshifter:AFM is the only game my wife has ever played and enjoyed.
This theme will be massive outside of pinside and being similar to AFM will ensure this game sells a ton.
Can't agree more with these sentiments. AFM is the most approachable game there is for new players as it invites new players to simply shoot in the middle to make progress. My wife tolerates it too but I had to sell that clunker of a remake. I was eventually going to get a real one but I think Stranger Things will do me just fine with a cherry on top. I have a dark corner in my game room and I simply chose not to listen to the the doom mongers.
And trust me, there will be a cow!

Where are the accelerators? Or were you just chopping wood?
I had I Hypeball prototype. It had the feedback forms stapled to it. That was easier back in the day without Internet. I still have a lot of respect for JJP when they trialled the rotating mode thing on JJPPOTC (FGW in SF had one). A similar scheme would apply to this projector idea that Stern has...
Quoted from delt31:Layout is very AFM.
Besides the two ramps and the center shot behind the drops, what makes this game an "AFM" layout? If you'd see this game for the first time not knowing that Brian Eddy was behind it, would you still think of AFM?
I like to call it a pretzel fan layout as the shots are asymmetrical. Left orbit feeds right return and inner right loop feeds left orbit. Like a pretzel.
Anyhow, thanks for the review!
Quoted from zimvsdib:Just sad...
Agree. Worst I've ever seen ever too!
Quoted from TigerLaw:Is there any chance of Stern getting the season 3 video assets in some future code release? The mall in season was such an incredible setting for 80’s nostalgia.
Don't forget how weird these games will look after Season 4+, new actors, grown up actors, new threats and we're not even in Hawkins anymore. The upside down will most likely be around still.
The alleged "secret skillshot", has anyone found it yet? My guess is soft-plunging into the left saucer.
Quoted from Rarehero:I think that’s the last EA game I bought.
The last EA game I had was given to me a few years ago. I still got it in shrinkwrap. *plays the world's tiniest violin*
My TNA dimpled just like my brand new GOTG and the AFMR I had. It's least visible on my TF that has the most plays (dimples has smoothed out) but remember when I got my Stern Trek that every fly ball made what looked like a crater. Barely notice these days.
My Tron (2nd or 3rd run) that sat in a box for 5 years has got a very good cure and is not as noticeable.
Quoted from Iwasthebruce:The dimples seem waaaay to small a diameter to have been caused by the ball, but who knows.
Drop a ball on the PF and increase the height one inch for each drop. The dimple grows as the height increases. One inch looking like a speck of dust up to a groove you can feel with your finger. Do this under the apron close to the PF graphics, some clearcoaters are for obvious reasons not a detail oriented underneath the apron.
Quoted from CrazyLevi:Or don't and just play pinball.
Yeah, sorry about this nonsense. I truly can't give a fuck as long as the game plays correctly.
Quoted from PoMC:There’s a nearly bald, 12 year old girl with a nosebleed on the translite.
A damn strong 12 yo I might add. I love all the art packages but you know, taste and all that is individual.
Quoted from romulusx:You also get a solid fast shooting no pooling or chipping playfield!JJP at their best!
It's a clunker.
Quoted from pinmister:It has been said numerous times but I agree that people will need to judge this one for themselves with their own eyes.
Some people cut a nine grand check to inspect for themselves.
Quoted from Skyemont:Just didn’t look smooth to me coming down the left orbit.
The game I played had a silky smooth return on the left orbit and an ass wipe of a return on the right orbit. This must be adjustable somehow.
Quoted from flynnibus:I'm still trying to figure out the magnet lock.[quoted image]
Eleven should've been a mold on the Premium/LE, not a flat face. Just my $0.02.
Quoted from Trindawg:I’ve never made such a big purchase on a “toy” and for it to not work out of the box!
This is pinball. Welcome to the hobby.
Quoted from balt:The projection area on the right ramp is much smaller than the white area available.
I'm curious about the right ramp return. There's a white piece of decal on there as well.
Quoted from kpg:Im dying over here... "mutant artichoke"
Are we over vagina monster?
Quoted from kpg:I'd rather have that bad ass dinosaur then this flared up va
Chipping for air!
Seriously though, some modder should take the vag monster and simply make it 10% bigger and every problem would be solved. Bigger glory hole and the pudendas would cover up the crevices where the balls get stuck.
Edit: Balls
Quoted from kpg:But compare the two playfields and it becomes abundantly clear- this may be the lowest budget pinball machine Stern has released in years besides games like Whoa Nellie and the Pabst Blue ribbon machines.
Times have certainly changed. When I'm eyeing up my Stern Trek Premium and looking at my Stranger Things LE on its way off the line it makes you wonder where things went south. If Stern needs to cut costs and charge us more to stay in business, I'd say so be it! Fuck the world it would be miserable without them. Besides TNA I can't be fucked with any of the other "new" manufacturers out there. Although I'm waiting for that JJP game to drop that raises the pulse just above stone cold dead (not interested in "family" titles).
Quoted from corvair61:Just got the call that my LE is ready for pick up at 4.... BOOM
Shipping Monday!
Quoted from cleland:I can feel the sting for the LE owners
A whole 3.3% price hike! I'm offended. I'm going to start a podcast. I already forgot about the $25 projector they put in.
Quoted from Rydhia:Looks like these are there to make room for the screws on the kit. I’m not sure though.
You are actually 100% correct with that guess. I didn't think the UV rail would go that far down.
Quoted from f3honda4me:I've got over 1000 games on my AFMr and there isn't a single dimple to be seen.
You got rubber balls in your AFMr? The one I owned (and another a fellow league member owned) dimpled AF.
Quoted from Crile1:Give it a chance!
This game got off on the wrong foot for sure. I have ironed out all kinks on my game (there were quite a few) and I'd challenge any hater who played a dud on location or otherwise to say this is a shit game one more time. I bought sight unseen at launch and underwhelmed is an understatement.
