Quoted from KJS:I am being sincere here...do you think it is worth buying a spare playfield, getting it professionally cleared and beefing up cabinet etc on this game?
No, just play.
Quoted from Iwasthebruce:The dimples seem waaaay to small a diameter to have been caused by the ball, but who knows.
Those dimples aren’t bad at all, look about the same as the machine I care for.
...and to those claiming this is only Stern, and CGC or whoever is better, you’re wrong.
Quoted from PinMonk:Do you have an airball issue or something?
No air all issue, just an example of playfield difference, and it still plays great.
Back to the Stranger Things topic....
The left ramp up post on mine came apart just like the other ones in this thread. It seems the “crimp” on the meatball portion isn’t tight enough to hold the post.
I took it to the curb, and hammered a punch into the mark of the original crimp, a few whacks in both sides and back in the game, been working fine since.
Quoted from nogoodnames222:Hahaha I just can't believe there's nothing to secure it at all, I'm not sure what the attachment point looks like but seems like the kind of thing a single tapped hole + set screw could've completely resolved. This will just get worse and worse over time, every time it gets worked loose it'll fit a bit less tight. Glad you pointed it out, this is going to be an immediate + recurring issue for operators I would think (until they figure out their own solution).
The one on my machine looked like it was pressure fit, then they kind of crimp the metal part, there was a small indentation on both sides where it would squeeze the plastic post. That is where I placed my punch and hammered. It just seems whoever made that part didn’t quite squeeze the metal enough.
It’s been fine since.
Quoted from chuckwurt:So you just need to punch that hole a bit so it “bites” the plastic more
That’s what I did, seems good to go.
The Star Wars post actually had to have the plastic hammered back into the metal, you couldn’t just push it in like I could with the ST post.
Guess this is just a Stern Bash thread now, and I'm pretty sure all topics have been covered, enjoy...
Quoted from JimB:My distro says to not wax the play field so soon after purchase. What’s everyone’s consensus
I’ve waxed brand new, no issues.
Don’t read too much into the wax arguments either, I’ve not run into anything that caused damage, not even Wildcat, Novus 2, or Mills, anything is better than not waxing.
Quoted from corvair61:I must be in the wrong thread, I thought this was A Stranger Things forum..
My apologies for answering a question for a fellow pinball enthusiast.
Now back to the SAME people bitching their asses ofF about the SAME shit....
Quoted from TheFamilyArcade:To my knowledge, only Stern machines suffer from this “moon crater” malaise.
Let me help your knowledge....CGC AFMr, LE, that actually sat in the box a couple months before going to location.
