Quoted from DavidPinballWizz:Only good projection should be laser projection, let's see what they will come up with.
Projection and pinball is a weird combination. I could see an above projector, but one in the apron seems odd to me.
First, what happens when the shaker goes off ir you nudge? Is that thing going to shake around and look terrible?
Also laser projection is not as great as you think. Just replacing or servicing that thing would be a nightmare. We have 10 laser projectors at work and weve swapped all but 1 out under warranty repair.
Interesting innovation, I await some video.
Quoted from Zablon:You guys seem out of the loop on how small projectors are these days. We're not talking movie theaters here. We're talking the size of LED bulb, like what they have on watches and tablets. They aren't amazing, but they do the job, and keep in mind they don't have to throw the image all that far.
I anticipate either one on each side of the apron (L/R) or one center..which is more likely.
I assure you, I am not out of the loop on these little garbage projectors they sell these days. The lumens are abysmal. To compete with the gi, inserts, etc, youre looking at at least 2-3k lumens at least.
Look at the glare/reflection of the projected screen on the playfield too. Im not so sure you guys are going to want anything but the pro.
So again, the reflection of the screen on the playfield. Why are you guys ignoring that? We already have problems with the translite reflecting on the glass, now youve got a double reflection in your face.
Quoted from jeffgoldstein2:The new technology on the market is laser projectors that get 20,000 hours. Hoping that is what they used, but doubtful because they’re much more expensive.
Ive replaced 90% of our laser projectors at work under warranty repair. Not a good technology. Maybe some day. Definitely not in a tiny projector.
This looks a little brighter than some of those snowflake/image projectors you see on peoples houses for christmas.
So congrats stern on utilizing christmas light technology again (cough star trek laser field cough).
Really, I just do not like fan layouts. I need that 3rd/4th flipper or upper/lower pf. Two flippers doesnt do it for me like it used to. Modes or not.
Quoted from drfrightner:Clearly they're using video mapping technology, which honestly isn't very hard to do. However they have to be using a very affordable video projector, you need low lighting and I'm promise you those projectors won't last long. Those would be a short throw type and I use them in attractions we build, they burn out quickly. It will be interesting to see how they're doing that and if it will last long.
In a barcade where they're turned on all the time I DO NOT KNOW how long it will be before you replace that part.
I've got a bunch of short throw FX in attractions I build and you replace them sometimes every year.
I like the ambition of trying video mapping tech in a pinball. That is what I would call going for it! Kudos to Stern. Now lets see if it works in a bright room or how long they last in barcades.
Ill chime in again as some one who does video mapping and is a certified projectionist.
Throw distance is determined by the lens, not the lamp. Not sure why you are saying that is the reason they burn out. The lamp is the biggest wear and tear part of a projector. Plus, they should be cleaned out with compressed air every so often. I wonder if this one will have a fan.
The lamp and lumen number are my only concerns. Im guessing its under 1000 by the looks of the video.
Quoted from f3honda4me:15 year olds? You apparently do not know the stranger things demographic.
You would be surprised how many younger teens were dressed as STH characters at comic con this year.
Quoted from jandrea95:I could be wrong, but I just dont seeing people care enough to "hack" stern in order to get access to a youtube video 3 or 4 days early.
You underestimate this dudes sickness and money....
Quoted from Iwasthebruce:I guess that's fair...personal preference, I wouldn't even look twice at a Stern Pro anything. It seems they just make a stripped down version each time....like if you could still buy a car without A/C or power steering.
Its all the fan layout loving old dudes with disposable income. Who else is buying all these MMR and AFMR? Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
People keep eating these shit fan layout games up. Not sure why. Ive played that game before, just with a different theme and rules.
Honestly this game looks like a lot of chipping wood like Avengers with all the same inserts on each shot.
Ill still throw a quarter in this unlike I would ever do with Elvira, yet another fan layout for the masses. Slurp it up dummies.
Quoted from aingide:AFM is only one of the best games of all time,
Ew....moving on....
Quoted from Zablon:Having not played a JP2 yet, I can't speak to it, but uh...that's still a fan layout, even if it is prettied up.
Quoted from Zablon:How long until they just start shipping games blank?
'whaat? It's got balls, they move...whats the problem?'
Hey, but they got their game already, ok? LOL.
My favorite shot is when you shoot it up the middle and it dribbles out the side like drool out of a dogs mouth.
Quoted from Zablon:Don't know if it's the players...but that stream makes the game look pretty boring :/
Well that camera shot was just bad. Why even bother.
GAP hit me up next time you got a brand new machine you want to not stream poorly. Ive got cameras, mics, etc. Just for the chance to play a new game early, Id come by.
You all know what the reason *I think* for no stream of the prem/le right?
Jack Danger uses his own version of pinstadiums. What do you think pinstadium type lighting and overhead lighting is going to do to that projector beam?
So my prediction is that the game is going to be super hard to photograph and they are having trouble getting it to look good for stream. When ever Jack gets his next Stern delivery from grandpa Gary, we will see what he can do.
He will definitely have to shoot it from a ChromeCandyPinball (twitch streamer with a nice setup) player view angle to get the screens flat on.
The projector has a hot spot that will move around dependent on where you view it from and where its shooting from. They all have a hot spot, especially when at short distance.
Im patiently waiting to see this thing. I want it to be cool.

Quoted from valgalder:Very awkward. I'm pretty sure Jack flew out with all his streaming equipment, so they must have made the decision not to do it because of the inability to capture the footage well..
Quoted from jonesjb:And what about Spooky’s Rick and Morty?
R&M is like an apartment in Tuscany, there are none for sale! Dont even bother asking!
