Looks awesome!

Ugh, I’m going to have to sell another game...maybe two...to free up space. Man, Rick & Morty, JP, Stranger Things, Guns n Roses soon...so much incredible pinball coming out right now. We are in a golden age for the hobby right now, to be sure.

Quoted from chuckwurt:

It already does. Haha. Every game from that era is extremely shallow.
Right now STH Pro doesn’t have the moments that AFM has especially the demogorgon modes and the upside down, but the rules are already way more interesting than AFM. It has total annihilation but with three different tiers. It’s not the same each time. And the path to that mode is much more interesting (the 12 story modes).

I totally agree that the 90’s games are shallow by today’s standards, but AFM is well coded because it is so balanced in its scoring. There are three distinct paths to follow if you are playing in a tourney and that is pretty rare. Time will tell if STH can match the balance and scoring logic of AFM, way too early to tell IMO.

All that said, I’ll likely be selling my AFM to fund STH, in with the new and out with the old and all that.

Quoted from billsfanmd:

Yeah I’m surprised stern marketing does not monitor Pinside and other social media outlets. One of the first rules of business is knowing your customer and what they are thinking. Stern can do it for free while most companies send out surveys

Stern monitors Pinside very closely through multiple employees per numerous insider reports over the years, they just do not participate on the site (or if they do they do not identify themselves).

Quoted from CrazyLevi:

A better question is why would anybody think they won’t eventually release a finished product? They always do.

They do not always finish their games, my CSI was absolutely incomplete and a general mess code wise and the reason I sold it. Stern has abandoned games before from a perspective of code.

That said, Stern’s coding over the last few years has been nothing short of absolutely spectacular. The chances of a major license like Stranger Things not getting a full code implementation seems rather remote. Still, Lyman is not coding this game and that does give me pause as he does code the “funnest” games in my opinion.

Is there any chance of Stern getting the season 3 video assets in some future code release? The mall in season was such an incredible setting for 80’s nostalgia.

Just curious if the game is locked in on season 1 and 2 from an assets perspective or if season 3 is coming later.

Quoted from pinmister:

One day a fellow friend(pinsider) and I were having this discussion about the playfield quality of today. He suggested switching to a high density plastic playfield. Would a high density polyethylene (HDPE) be a viable alternative? Definitely got me thinking.

There was a company that was doing this some years back. Can’t remember which one, they did a hockey themed pin I saw on a papa video and the playfield looked perfect 35 years later.

Quoted from kpg:

I'm all in on a TMNT pin especially if Borg is doing the playfield. None of his designs have ever let me down.

Borg’s stuff is awesome, but he’s turned into a very conservative designer over his last several releases and does recycle his designs more than others (or at least it feels that way to me personally). I think TWD was his last risky layout.
