^^^^This is why i didn’t enjoy the show.
The screenplay, scriptwriting, director etc... tried to capture all of that nostalgia and to me it didn’t work.
In comparison - Lost Boys did a perfect job capturing this. I guess that’s the difference between making a production in the correct time zone with actors from that generation vs a bunch of noobs with little experience being directed by well...........whomever.

Having been dragged up in the 70s, 80s this was my era......they didn’t do it justice IMO.
Questionable acting.....
Who’s the dude with the long black hair that fancies 11, he needs a lesson or two!
Also, in season 1, it started off quite sinister, had depth, from there it gradually went on a slippery slope.......it’s like they literally lost the plot!
I’m sure someone will pop up with the ratings figures on Netflix.
Mainline TV is poor these days so Netflix gets pounded which inevitably puts the ratings up, making it such a wonderful success.
I hope the pin does well for those that love the theme which will make it cooler for them, as long as they don’t screw the artwork up.
I’ll certainly consider it if it’s well put together even though I didn’t gel with the series.

Looks pretty good, better than expected.
I guess all the female pinheads will be happy with Billy plastered on the side of the head unit.

Quoted from RA77:

From what I have seen yes,
Lets give it a few months, Im not a Stranger Things fan but think this will Slay other Stern Pro's
The delivery and atmosphere is exceptional for such early code, and this is only judging from video.
Perhaps we need to actually step up to the machine ?

IMDN Pro is a very fine pin Sir

Quoted from DBLM:

How is it that people that have not even played Rick and Morty (which is almost everybody) say that it is “better” than Stranger Things or any other game when people that have actually played these other games say they are fun? Your nut-huggery for Spooky and your hatred for Stern is showing.
I do not like the Stranger Things show but the pin looks interesting. I love Rick and Morty but the pin looks blah. This is why we should actually try things to actually make an opinion first. I look forward in trying both.
And speaking of actually playing games, got to play premiums of both Elvira and JP2. Both are really fun. JP2 is a masterpiece, but don’t sleep on Elvira. It is actually a lot of fun and shoots well.

Good point....some of us don’t have that luxury unfortunately in UK. We have to watch endless streams etc.... check reviews before pulling the pin. Luckily it’s worked out well for me having never tried before buying.... and all been great so far.....
I think once you’ve decided on the theme, the hardest decision is whether to go Pro,Pre or LE.

Anyone else think 11 looks like a baby Sinead O’Connor with a nose bleed

#2497 4 years ago

It’s worth noting this projector thingy could end up being an expensive lesson....big investment in a pin with a innovative feature someone may have dreamt up over a crate of beer
Buyers will be the unpaid field bench testers
I see it now, dedicated forum setup for Premium/LE Stranger Things buyers constantly fcuking around with the projector........
Not like Stern will help you out based on recent form, customers service response will get crickets...and they’ll be 5 machines later down the production line.
Good luck gents

Quoted from jdoz2:

What are you taking about? I called them Monday about a 13 yr old machine of theirs and they were very willing to help.

Selective help I guess.
Funny how they are willing to help you and your 13 year old pin but won’t help people with new Pins.
Get yourself over to the ongoing playfield issue forum.

Quoted from kpg:

I used to be pretty negative on Stern as a company a couple years ago. I had a bad playfield on my Ghostbusters LE. I did make a stink about it, but I'll tell you this, Gary Stern personally called me and we had a 45 min convo about the issue and other things and he promised he'd make it right himself.
They shipped me a populated playfield and I exchanged it. I had my doubts obviously. But they pulled through and completely made up for it which is why I'm still a customer of Stern.
Contact your distributor if you're having a problem and see what they can do.

I’m happy for you and the guys who got sorted on the known GB issues, deserved...that’s cool and good of GS to call you personally. These were affecting only a number of playfield to a specific pin so they were prepared to do the right thing.
Problem is now, the issues are much wider spread and affect so many. Customer services tactic is to go silent..... then cherry pick which ones they feel they need to action. Not sure what the internal decision making process is formed on however....
Customers will view this as poor after-sales, Smoke n Mirrors routine, where’s the integrity?
Anyway, this isn’t the right forum to debate.... being Stranger Things....
People just want what they paid for....

Here’s another one for Chuck to downvote

Quoted from Rarehero:

Games shouldn’t rank higher just by the very notion of being modern. If a game is good, a game is good. If a game sucks, it sucks. Doesn’t matter when it was made. Today’s games aren’t always of higher quality or design, despite being new. Pinball is inherently retro. Tech doesn’t design a game. People do. The only thing really “higher tech”’ on new games is the score display & multi colored lights. Other than that, it’s still wood, plastic, metal, and a ball.
I was always the guy who was trying to tell “the old guys” how fun many Sterns were when collectors only wanted B/W 90’s games...I love tons of Sterns up through Metallica. I own 7 of them. After that, I think they took a slide for the worse for the most part. Nothing since Metallica has been as good, despite the tech upgrade of SPIKE....tech is irrelevant...I don’t play tech, it’s the game experience that counts.
My favorite modern game is TNA, for what it’s worth.

Oooooo, Metallica, probably because the team that was assigned to this pin were all heavily enthusiastic. The DMD with the snake so suites this game also.....it cracks me up
The band were engaged also....... this pin is awesomeness. This pin has it all
I’m not from the USA but I’ll say it anyway ......

Quoted from kpg:

One thing we can all agree on,
Let's just be glad the artwork and backglass looks as good as it is... it could have been worse and Stern could have rehashed some old ACDC artwork to save a few bucks[quoted image]

Emm, that's why i bought Luci
And actually i think Angus looks better than Sinead O'Connor's baby sister whose just taken a punch on the nose

When they do these live streams...
I would much prefer if they turned the volume of the pin way up.
I want to hear the call outs / music / effects etc......
They can save the chit chat at the intro and start of each pin game session.

Quoted from Who-Dey:

Maybe they will send everybody a new amd improved demogorgan. One with a big mouth with a super high powered magnet inside of it.

Or just send out a bottle of this with every NIB

The irony, I didn’t enjoy Netflix Stranger Things but I’m loving Pinside version way more

#5440 4 years ago

Who knows, maybe Stern will blow the cob webs and do a Vault soon to get the line moving

#5599 4 years ago

In the UK we call it a fanny....
Or gaping axe wound

#5604 4 years ago

I know this is Stranger Things but....
sir_tankalot Big shout out from UK
Metallica is truly exceptional- thank you Sir.
You deserve your knighthood

I feel a bit sorry for this coder chap Lonnie.
Quite a few people seem to be giving him grief for being not up to the task yet - all quick to defend and buy Stranger Things? Then saying how great it will be once the code matures?
Make your bloody mind up already
I think some of his stuff is awesome - Kiss - wow

#5910 4 years ago
Quoted from Zablon:

No, it isn't awesome...that is one of the main complaints.

+1
The mechs on Metallica are awesome.
The STh fandango is hilarious.....
I can just imagine the guys at the vendor factory pissing themselves laughing when they were pulling them out the mold
It’s a bit like when you get a bad tattoo. My friend showed me his new Lion tattoo, but I immediately pointed out it actually looked like Chewbacca. Now he also sees the Wookiee..... same thing here......if you catch my drift. The brain is programmed, I see no big bad Demogorgan just a rubber twat that doesn’t like balls
