All I need to know is.... Has The Banker bought an LE?
Quoted from chuckwurt:What about on the third or fourth mode?
I didn't get that far. Just updated the game to the new code and now the first shot into the demogorgon is 5 million points, so that is a big change from .63 code. Also, as others have mentioned the demogorgon does give points for missed shots.
In playing some test games, noted the following with regards to shots to the demogorgon, 15 different times:
3 shots to kill demogorgon--1 time
2 shots to kill demogorgon--3 times
ball drained after 1 shot--2 times
ball drained after 2 shots--1 time
1 shot to kill demogorgon--8 times
Game pitch is just under 7 degrees.

Quoted from Yelobird:Don’t have a game here but curious if this might be a simple fix. The screen is a simple bowed metal shape is it possible some are simply bowed a bit to much? Seems like if its shooting high you would need to carefully bend the center bow up to reduce lift. Guessing but I would think they used half hard stainless which will take and hold a forced bend. I would say just a 1/4” or so less bow in that ramp would dial it into ball swallowing position.
I mentioned this as a potential fix like 10 posts up. People just want to pinside petey the hell out of everything instead of actually solving their problems. This forum is cancerous.
So for those of you with time on the game is the upside down only a hurry up and how does it feel if so? Satisfying/eventful or could it be better implemented as a mode?
Quoted from Chalkey:I mentioned this as a potential fix like 10 posts up. People just want to pinside petey the hell out of everything instead of actually solving their problems. This forum is cancerous.
Sorry didn’t see it was simply trying to help. Rather simple fix and as it is a critical shot for the games enjoyment thought it would be of interest. Or not....
Quoted from jimwe5t:Excellent art, design does not sell a game to anyone but pinheads that remember them from their youth. See the results of Cosmic Carnival, it has excellent art. Re-read my posts for you to understand. Your still “conflating”. Do you sell these games or have stock in them? Lol
I’m not discussing this with you any further if you choose ignorance and insults. I would have been happy to share my pinball story with you, but instead you'd rather make stuff up. No I don’t sell games. Not sure what “stock” is. Have fun in pinball. May our paths never cross.
Quoted from J85M:So for those of you with time on the game is the upside down only a hurry up and how does it feel if so? Satisfying/eventful or could it be better implemented as a mode?
I each drops target is a separate hurry up. Hit all four to complete. The points are satisfying, but it can definitely be improved with better lighting and maybe varied shots. Like alternate between having to hit drops and having to hit ramps.
Quoted from chuckwurt:I each drops target is a separate hurry up. Hit all four to complete. The points are satisfying, but it can definitely be improved with better lighting and maybe varied shots. Like alternate between having to hit drops and having to hit ramps.
Chuck do you think it could/would be more eventful, let’s just say better for arguments sake if it was a mode you had to get into but also control getting out of rather than a simple hurry up that was sometimes over before it’s started in the stream?
I was kinda hoping it would be a mode you had to get into like Will in the show can sense when the mindflayer is close, red shots could appear on the playfield, make 4 of those and you go into the upside down, make 4 shots and you have the choice of getting back out by making another shot or two and cashing in the points or stay in and build up your score, kinda like the risk reward of escaping or continuing a major villain mode in BM66.
Or what about preventing you from getting into the upside down with some sort of shot progression? That way you can escape it before it closes in and continue your mode/progress without having to timeout or risk deadly drops?
Quoted from chuckwurt:You’re wrong. Haha. Update the code.
I expect the projector to help make the upside down feature even better.
Right now the multiballs feel like Lonnie. The modes are varied and don’t all feel the same. It will have some aspects that Lonnie has in other games some new stuff. Expected due to the fact that it’s a group effort between Lonnie mike and Brian.
Hopefully there are around 50 modes at the end of the road, but right now I’m counting around half that. The more modes the better with a huge theme like this.
Thanks Chuck! I Updated the code! Glad to see there is a bash switch. Still can’t kill the demogorgan via bash correct? I can’t hit that effing mouth for the life of me. Hope they eventually add X hits equals kill or something like that. I counted 16 shots in a row that looked dead on center and wouldn’t go in the damn mouth. Only issue I have with the game.
Quoted from Yelobird:Huh? It’s hinged from the bottom. Didn’t say to mess with the hinges. The door(ramp) is bowed which dictates the trajectory of the ball travel. Simply reduce the bow across the center. (Left to right)
It's a plate. If it were bent (or you tried to bend it) perpendicular to the hinges you'd foul the rotation in the hinges.
Quoted from PINQUEST:Thanks Chuck! I Updated the code! Glad to see there is a bash switch. Still can’t kill the demogorgan via bash correct? I can’t hit that effing mouth for the life of me. If it’s as bad as you guys say it is I think that software tweak will happen, like other poor design problems such as Gene on kiss.
Quoted from J85M:Chuck do you think it could/would be more eventful, let’s just say better for arguments sake if it was a mode you had to get into but also control getting out of rather than a simple hurry up that was sometimes over before it’s started in the stream?
I don’t see it being anything other than a hurry up. Because you never know when it’s coming and you want to get our as soon as possible. I think switching to having to hit ramps instead of drops would help with what you’re talking about. But the spirit of the upside will stay the way it is I think.
I also think the lighting and projector will add more to it on the prem/LE
Quoted from PINQUEST:Still can’t kill the demogorgan via bash correct?
Correct. I hope they change that even if it takes tons of hits to kill it because there are going to be lots of location games that will have frustrating Demogorgons and the OPs won’t do shit about it.
Quoted from Apex:Or what about preventing you from getting into the upside down with some sort of shot progression? That way you can escape it before it closes in and continue your mode/progress without having to timeout or risk deadly drops?
Because this makes no sense in terms of theme integration. They way they have it start now is good, just could be better with the experience being varied and improve the lighting a bit more. Again, I expect this to be improved with the added features of the prem/LE
Quoted from chuckwurt:Correct. I hope they change that even if it takes tons of hits to kill it because there are going to be lots of location games that will have frustrating Demogorgons and the OPs won’t do shit about it.
How in the h&$)#! Did this pass beta testing in the field?
Quoted from billsfanmd:How in the h&$)#! Did this pass beta testing in the field?
Could be a slight issue with production...or maybe just had to be perfectly set up.
I wouldn't think it would be an issue for home owners, but as chuckwurt said the big issue will be on location.
They could always have options for defeating the demogorgan in the settings as well.
Quoted from billsfanmd:How in the h&$)#! Did this pass beta testing in the field?
I DONT KNOW MAN?!?!? We should burn stern to the ground for this.
Quoted from chuckwurt:I DONT KNOW MAN?!?!? We should burn stern to the ground for this.
I can understand an oversight on a minor switch. But this IS the game on the Pro. Hopefully stern reads these. Still hoping to buy but waiting a bit
Quoted from billsfanmd:How in the h&$)#! Did this pass beta testing in the field?
That’s the problem. Stern doesn’t test in the field anymore. Build, ship unfinished & untested...NIB maniacs who can’t wait get to pay to be the beta testers.
Anyone thought to contact Brian Eddy or MXV about possible alignment fixes? I bet they could tell you how they got theirs working so well.
Quoted from newovad:Anyone thought to contact Brian Eddy or MXV about possible alignment fixes? I bet they could tell you how they got theirs working so well.
Don’t have their contact. I’ve talked to my distro but he hasn’t gotten word from them yet I guess.
Quoted from VividPsychosis:I’ll be getting a pro tomorrow and will post my review this weekend. I am also getting an Elvira premium
Can I come over and play??!!!
Quoted from BrianBannon:This issue must be game or setup dependent. My biggest issue with the demogorgon toy is that the reward for hitting it through the mouth was so low. I had good success using the left flipper.
Update the code. New code rewards 5mil for successful shot in demigorgans mouth.
So I just started looking at the music and sound in Pinball Browser.
I'm thinking I'm gonna go for something like this for the main theme. C418 Remix, with some quotes mixed in from EP1.

Giggity!
The internet, taking quotes out of context since 1999...
Sounds great Cleland - I actually sped it up 1.25 and sounds better to me for game play ( music not voices)
Quoted from KJS:Sounds great Cleland - I actually sped it up 1.25 and sounds better to me for game play ( music not voices)
Yeah, I just noticed that too. Lots to do! Actually gonna fix that right now
I have season 1 and 2 soundtrack cds and there are some awesome tunes on those that would be great for this game. They are the synth background music for the show

Cleland working on the audio makes this game a must buy!
I had I Hypeball prototype. It had the feedback forms stapled to it. That was easier back in the day without Internet. I still have a lot of respect for JJP when they trialled the rotating mode thing on JJPPOTC (FGW in SF had one). A similar scheme would apply to this projector idea that Stern has...

Just ordered up the CD’s from Amazon. Love the music on the show!
Kids (Austin Pettis remix) part of it could be used for multi ball
Eulogy season 2 could be used for high score initial entry
Last day of light from season 2 trailer would be great somewhere
This pin could have a the greatest sound track ever.

Will you release your mix? Can’t wait!
Quoted from Rarehero:I’m not discussing this with you any further if you choose ignorance and insults. I would have been happy to share my pinball story with you, but instead you'd rather make stuff up. No I don’t sell games. Not sure what “stock” is. Have fun in pinball. May our paths never cross.
Would like to hear your pinball story sometime. Not seeking contention over this apparently touchy subject. Enjoyed our discussion and appreciate your opinion. Always good to hear what others think and that’s what makes this forum so much fun. No insults intended on my part, simply think that old games are way over rated. And as Ricky Nelson’s penned in one of his most famous songs, “if singing oldies are all it’s about, I’d rather drive a truck.” Think pinball is somewhat that way too. Can’t we reach for better than 25 years ago and are doing better? Even the designers of 25 years ago think we can and are doing much better. Heard George Gomez remark that he can’t believe MB is still up there.
Kieth Elwins first 2 layouts, game rules and depth of code are simply superior in every way to the oldie goldies. If it isn’t why don’t we call it quits in pinball right now? The oldies are still fun, but imo, don’t hold a candle to modern day, Stern’s, JJP’s, AP’s and Spooky titles coming out now. It shows how out of whack Pinside top 100 ratings have become. It is nothing more than a popularity contest. Don’t you think the modern day games should all be ranked much higher? They are simply higher tech and design in every way than the old machines of long ago. Just about everything improves over time, or people would not be buying pinball any longer. CGC would become the only company in town, just copying machines made more than a quarter of a century ago. Seems like quite a boring uninspiring future, if that were really the case.
All the best to you and I hope we do meet sometime. Dinner on me.
Quoted from cleland:Just ordered up the CD’s from Amazon. Love the music on the show!
Will this be available on Pre/LE?
Thanks for the work you did on GOTG.
Quoted from CrazyLevi:If it’s as bad as you guys say it is I think that software tweak will happen, like other poor design problems such as Gene on kiss.
Or they'll just add a default setting in the software to disable the wall coming down and announce it is "as designed" like they did instead of fixing the Martell mode orbits in Game of Thrones.
After reading gameplay impressions, watching gameplay videos, and really thinking about this one... And as much as I absolutely love the theme, I've decided to cancel my LE and ordered a JP Prem instead.
I've been burned on a couple Lonnie coded games in the past, and although there's a team behind him now, as the saying goes "I'll believe it when I see it". Combine that with some interesting layout quirks and the unknown about the projector situation, I feel this particular LE is a bit too risky to jump in so soon for almost $9K, sight unseen like I've done for several years.
Keith Elwin blew me away with Iron Maiden and I love that pin and the code.. and JP I'm sure will be awesome as well. Stranger Things is a perfect theme, but at the end of the day, I realized that was the only reason I wanted it.
I hope it turns out awesome for you guys waiting for it and I'll be watching it progress from the sidelines and hopefully I'll find a place to get some games on it.
Quoted from kpg:...Strangers Things...
Pretty sure that's a porno Lonnie has nothing to do with.

Higher tech in every way?
Deeper code for sure.
LCD screen.
But higher tech as in innovation and mechs? No chance.
The biggest 'innovation' in the last decade has been the rulesets.
I think Maiden is fantastic, but it's Keith's design and code that make the big epic. Not higher tech.
Quoted from jimwe5t:Don’t you think the modern day games should all be ranked much higher? They are simply higher tech and design in every way than the old machines of long ago.
Games shouldn’t rank higher just by the very notion of being modern. If a game is good, a game is good. If a game sucks, it sucks. Doesn’t matter when it was made. Today’s games aren’t always of higher quality or design, despite being new. Pinball is inherently retro. Tech doesn’t design a game. People do. The only thing really “higher tech”’ on new games is the score display & multi colored lights. Other than that, it’s still wood, plastic, metal, and a ball.
I was always the guy who was trying to tell “the old guys” how fun many Sterns were when collectors only wanted B/W 90’s games...I love tons of Sterns up through Metallica. I own 7 of them. After that, I think they took a slide for the worse for the most part. Nothing since Metallica has been as good, despite the tech upgrade of SPIKE....tech is irrelevant...I don’t play tech, it’s the game experience that counts.
My favorite modern game is TNA, for what it’s worth.
Pretty much every new game which comes out enriches the hobby. But most new games offer only lcd screen, led rgb lights and more complex rules vs. the older games. But in terms of what you’re shooting for - ramps, orbits, scoops and stationary targets - not much new there - although shooting airborn balls into the monsters mouth in Stranger Things is kind of new, as is the beamer. I think this is one reason for the hope and hype with Deeproot - they have promised us new mechs.

Oooooo, Metallica, probably because the team that was assigned to this pin were all heavily enthusiastic. The DMD with the snake so suites this game also.....it cracks me up
The band were engaged also....... this pin is awesomeness. This pin has it all
I’m not from the USA but I’ll say it anyway ......
HOME RUN MAN
Quoted from Shapeshifter:One big difference.
AFM, MM and MB = fantastic iconic themes.
Dialed In. Er, not so much.
Dialed in is awesome and a fresh take. Many of my favorite pins have "no theme." I feel the curmudgeons in the hobby are too scared of it because it is a new theme. I honestly don't get why people don like that machine.

No shit you think that. Nobody here had a hard time decrypting your message to figure this out. And Gomez said that? I doubt it was in the way you think/hope. Did he say, "that old turd? I'm shocked people still like it?" I...doubt it.
I've never played monster bash until the remake. I want one. Not because of nostalgia, as I have none, but because the game is effing awesome.

It's not a touchy subject. It's just that everyone thinks you're wrong, and you're thick enough to keep fighting the obvious current.
FYI stranger things is live at captain auction warehouse in Anaheim m-f. No weekend hours though so, not today...
Quoted from kpg:I'll be watching it progress from the sidelines
I hear you and I will be watching as well. I really need to experience the Premium/LE in a home environment in order to make a true decision. I do prefer the Premium art the best on this one and if Cleland does a sweet music mix it will push this game over the top with sounds. Was trying to think of what mods would be cool for the Premium/LE and I actually thought it looks like a drive in movie theatre screen so maybe a drive in movie theatre sign with Billy's Camaro off to the side on top of one of the ramps?
