i want stranger things to be good i really do, eddy is the man. but what are the chances it actually is? I give it 10-20%. that's Stern's good stuff rate.

I’ve been waiting to buy a JP pro to put on location, now I’m thinking stranger things pro might be a good option. Definitely looking forward to the release. Do you think it will do well on location at a brewery?

Ugh.

"The Upside Down is randomized and turns off and on, it happens at random points in the game, it could happen at any time. It’s a hurry up mode and you have to do something immediately to get out of the upside down then you get back to the real world."

Double ugh. Sounds like Winter is Coming meets Rollergames "go for the wall!"

Seems cool otherwise though. Fingers crossed.

It sounds awesome to me. The main toy in middle sounds complex and multi staged and interactive...which is perfect.

The projection stuff sounds amazing. The ball lock should be cool as well.

40 to 50 modes is nuts. Maybe they are at random so you only have the potential to play x amount in any particular game. I can't imagine having to play through that many modes to reach a wizard mode.

Hopefully they aren't cookie cutter bland like JJPOTC modes. At a certain point, more modes are a minus. Give me five good ones like Maiden.

Game sounds loaded! Over 40 modes?! I may be in for an LE on this one depending on how it turns out. Soundd like Stern is partially targeting home buyers with this one with the high mode count. That's just the type of game I want

Unfortunately, I've heard from 2 different smaller distros that they're moving their Stern prices up by $100 in 2020, but they wouldn't specify why. Guess we shall find out soon enough.

5 modes is no where near enough for me to drop $6k - $10k on a game today. A game needs to have at least or around a dozen objective based modes + multiple wizard modes that work the entire playfield to drop that type of cash. Hobbit is a good example of a game with an incredibly deep objective based ruleset that works the entire playfield in unique ways.

JJP pirates has 125 chapter modes but yes they all play nearly identical (hit lit character shots). However, it's the character feature in that game that ends up putting a unique twist on how the chapter modes are scored / played. Also, all mulitballs and wizard modes in JJP Pirates are unique. Chapter mode scoring also plays heavily into how much you can score in multiballs and wizard modes.

I hear what you're saying. It's hard to differentiate when you have that many. I think of JJPOTC "chapters" as 1 big mode.

Difference is, I've disliked so many Stern pins - even the new ones, that I wouldn't order this until I could play it anyway, so I'm cautiously optimistic.

Probably Stranger Things will be around for a couple of years in production so people can get one anytime.

Right, I just bought a new SW from Stern which had been out for 2.5 years iirc so there was not any reason for me to buy SW in the week it was released.

worst part about Pirates is the modes. So generic - so snooze worthy. It's ultimately why I think the game is very good - not great. Now Hobbit, Alien - those are how you sell modes.
