I have a Stern Stingray which has playfield wear near the top saucer (see below) which I am looking to attempt to repair...

The best picture I cab find of the section is this, which is a fairly poor image quality and average lighting plus taken at an angle.....

Ideally someone has a high resolution picture taken directly from above which they can share with me so I can create a to size tracing of to help with the lettering and black lines.

Thanks in advance....

Every Stingray I have ever seen is worn in that spot. If you watch the ball when it is ejected from the top saucer, it actually throws the ball out and lands in that wear spot. It is the same near the saucer in the middle you will notice a wear spot but not as bad, exactly the same issue. I plan to restore mine one day but I will be fixing both eject holes so the ball does not "get thrown out" but rather "ejects it out". If I had a decent scanner I would scan what I could, but mine has wear that is almost as bad as that. Good luck with your Stingray it is a fun game.

Thanks I was thinking of adjusting it too after I have completed the paint touch up but have not investigated how I would go about it yet....How you you "fix" both of the eject holes so they are more gentle?

My thought is (and only thoughts at this stage) is to file/grind down the scoop area as highlighted in the picture keeping the original shape but taking it in deeper so the ball sits lower, as so the ball does not to get the height when it gets ejected, but still enough to give a clear eject. The other theory is to limit the kicker on the coil so it doesn't pull it down as far which may possibly "stop the lifting" of the ball into the air as such, but I need to make sure it is not going to damage the coil in any way. Sorry I cant give you a more clear answer and I am not telling you to do any of this to your machine, but until I restore my one It will only be "a theory" for me.
