Anyone have any news about stern topper or after market
Quoted from ASOA:I heard Stern presented a topper to Lucas films and they said the following.
Really? I hope your kidding that they are back at the drawing board.
I want my damn topper - will be awesome on this machine.
Oh - I want rails and blades too damn it!
Quoted from ASOA:I heard from a little bird next week more information will be available on this topic. Almost here.
Did the bird die?
Quoted from Psw757:Yeah - no kidding where is the damn topper and shooter!
Sadly Im betting they are holding this most wanted toy as a minor reveal at the Texas show in March. Would grant them a bit more flare at the show but dam I want that thing and hope it lives up to the hype!
Disney/Lucas must be a real PITA to work with. This game is rapidly headed toward 1 years since being announced and still no topper. Yikes. I'm sure Stern is upset. By the time it is released, they will have lost 1/2 of their sales opportunities. People and mind share moves on to newer, shinier objects.

unless the topper actually projects a real hologram, i have no interest, as i have never had much interest in any toppers made in the past.

A projected hologram would be cool...but does this tech exist for consumers? I think expectations may be a little too high. Unless we live in a galaxy far, far, away.

for 500-600$ i'm sure they could do something that would work

Pretty sure it exists in fact they used a projector topper on BM66. Looks Awesome to!

I don’t think a projected image of a stationary bat shadow is what was meant by a “projects a real hologram”. Yes, the bat signal looked cool for BM66, but a stationary shadow of Princess Leia would not go over well. Even a color projected stationary Princess Leia wouldn’t go over very well IMO.

Depends on what shes wearing.......
Actually I think it could be pretty cool. Imagine the Same R2D2 as shown in the mystery shot. R2D2 projecting Deathstar images to the ceiling/wall like the movie. I would be in.

Ha! Ok, the gold bikini might be a different story.
The other thing that might work is projecting it onto the glass...not sure if that’s possible. Just an idea.

An animated projection would give a pretty close hologram effect, could easily have the video clip of Leia projected onto a wall or possibly some sort of acrylic?

Lets just say if Stern doesn't do it The Mod Couple will.... I to like the projection into a clear acrylic look from R2D2. That would be Sweet.

That, I would be interested in.
Okay, so they're having trouble getting the topper approved. But how about even a shooter knob? How hard would that be to get approved? Can anyone confirm if they really are only planning to offer the art blades and topper? Considering how empty the playfield is I would have thought this would be a perfect game to offer a half dozen different mods for.
Quoted from mittens:There will be no topper...
Stern said the topper is still coming in their May Stern of the Union address.
They also said in one of their union posts that it would be here before Xmas 2017. The game has been out now for a year (or will be next month). It would not surprise me if this gets shelved.

they wont shelve it when there is premo $$ to take on it. the margins on their toppers are probably pretty high.
so is it a safe bet now there won’t be a topper released today? figured that would be something released early in the morning?
Quoted from ASOA:I heard Stern presented a topper to Lucas films and they said the following.
since when does lucas film start caring about quality? Maybe they should start caring about the quality of the movies they put out before anything else.
Quoted from CaptainNeo:since when does lucas film start caring about quality? Maybe they should start caring about the quality of the movies they put out before anything else.
They probably also said; "who gives a shit aboot a topper, what are you 12?"

Their films are fine. Their game products.....not so much consistency there.

That last one was bad, have to agree.
Quoted from D-Gottlieb:I just heard from Gary. No topper.
Sorry, no topper yet... or no topper at all?
Quoted from Pinhead1982:Sorry, no topper yet... or no topper at all?
Is this more pinside rumor/speculation or fact?
Two weeks ago Stern said it was coming and there were a bunch of topper settings added into the adjustments of last code update.
total fact. like totally. just as total as the release of the topper on May 4th. we all know. really. we do.
Quoted from D-Gottlieb:I just heard from Gary. No topper.
Oh man that sucks. Just like the way I have played my machine like a thousand times and have yet to see the death star get blown up! So freaking annoying!
Quoted from Kobaja:total fact. like totally. just as total as the release of the topper on May 4th. we all know. really. we do.
There was never a credible rumor of the topper being released on 5/4 only the code update which they obviously did a bit of topper coding as seen in all the adjustment settings.
Quoted from Psw757:I’m calling BS on this... the topper is coming.
Yes, he was talking about Gary Jones and not Gary Stern.
Quoted from John_I:Yes, he was talking about Gary Jones and not Gary Stern.
Who the hell is Gary Jones?
Gary. You know, Gary. As in a buddy of mine who lives in my neighborhood. This guy has a crystal ball and he knows stuff.

Gary the straw man, ok.
Quoted from Sinestro:Their films are fine. Their game products.....not so much consistency there.
apparently, someone hasn't seen a SW movie since 1983.
