I know this will be an unpopular take, but I have played the movie version numerous times and REALLY enjoy the game. I think (just as with the coin-op models) the new art significantly enhances the attractiveness of the game.
If folks can learn to “accept” the compromises (peewee display and mono sound are the biggest, a shame given the amount of video and music in the game) I think many would discover a truly excellent game underneath it all. Is it worth $4500? Probably not, but at a (I’m assuming) $3800 street price it does start to look more a bit more compelling than the clapped-out 80s stuff I’ve been seeing lately with $4k+ asking prices!
I know this game has been widely panned around here as a pointless and dumb move by Stern, but I can’t imagine they would bother allocating resources to rework the art package if the game was not successful for them on at least some level.
