LE #785 arrived in Trondheim, Norway today, and is already out on location trying to pay for itself
We got some early feedback from one of our regulars, who noted that the Mystery kick-out often feeds the ball SDTM. "It's extremely aggravating, but I cannot stop playing..." I guess we should tune the kick-out strength, but at least game times aren't too long as it is now...
Quoted from luvthatapex2:Yep, 3 people will think its aggravating and keep feeding money while 7 people will get pissed off and refuse to play the game. I'd adjust it for sure if you care about the cash box.
Absolutely; we fixed it right after I posted. All our games are set up to play nice and fair; on the side of easy rather than hard, actually, since location pinball here has been dead for so long that most everyone playing are newcomers.
For anyone wondering: We fixed the SDTM issue the quick'n'easy way for now, by tuning down the eject coil strength from 40 to 20.
Quoted from oyvindmo:Going to check it out today; hoping it's just a broken-off diode, as per the recent service bulletin from Stern. Fingers crossed...
Yep, a leg on one of the rectifier nodes on Node 8 had broken right off. It has been fixed with a nice little soldered leg brace, and a liberal dose of hot-snot has been applied to stabilize it.
Seriously, who decided to mount TO-220 components standing tall, with an insane amount of free leg space down to the PCB, in a high-vibration area, with the PCB mounted with rigid stand-offs to the playfield? Those diodes pretty much behave as tuning forks with that setup...
Quoted from oyvindmo:Got the SW blues... Received a message last night that our on-location SW LE said "Node Not Found" on boot. Going to check it out today; hoping it's just a broken-off diode, as per the recent service bulletin from Stern
In case anyone wondered: Yeah, you should do the fix in the service bulletin if you haven't already. Since we didn't hear about the bulletin before the damage was already done, we ended up having to replace no less than seven PCBs, just because a $0.20 component broke one of its legs...
Quoted from PinballManiac40:Stern warrantied the boards?
Yes, we were met with top notch support from both our distributor and Stern.
But, I do wish Stern provided a way to subscribe for notifications when new service bulletins get published. If we had gotten a notice when that bulletin was posted, the problem would have been solved at no cost for Stern and we wouldn't have had two weeks of downtime on a solid location earner. (It took two weeks because they first sent one batch of cards, but it turned out even more cards were dead.)

I don't much mind all your promotional-ish posts which others take offense to, but this kind of making even a little bit of people's order info public is just plain wrong on principle. I insist that you will refrain from publish any of my info in any way, and implore you to not publish any others' as well.
Quoted from SprSnc:Hmm, wondering if my Death Star shot is extra hard due to the Jedi Training Target next to it not being centered. It leans to the left and slightly covers up part of the shot opening. Is it easy to adjust this target back to center?
Yes, just adjust it back to center, and consider installing one of these:

Quoted from RobKnapp:Should I order the 1/2 inch split for Star Wars Targets stand up targets?
My SW is on location so I cannot check the dimensions at the moment, and I cannot find any specs for that target anywhere based on the part number, so I'm actually not sure. I'm sure Mezel Mods can tell you if you ask.
