Quoted from Rob_G:

Some dude now seems to be copying the Stern LE side rails. I don't imagine Stern will be happy about that as those rail designs may be copyright.
Rob

They may not be happy, but theres no copyright issues....even if there were one could make a slight modification and work around it....I for one would love to have some make these rails

Quoted from John_I:

I kind of liked the white trim at first, but once I stepped back from machine about 10 feet it really stuck out like a sore thumb. The whole game has black trim and the white around the head just didn't look right. It looks so much better now. It only took a few minutes to do too. I did it while I was putting in the Flipper fidelity speaker system.
Here's a picture with one of each so you can really see the difference.

I like that...I actually just bought some black T molding....was it hard? my T molding seems stiff so was a little worried about the corners? any advice would be appreciated.

#3482 6 years ago
Quoted from John_I:

When you pull the old T-molding off you will notice that the ridge that fits into the slit is cut off at the corners to allow it to make the curve easily and smoothly. All you need to do is use some cutters to cut the molding the same way the factory one is cut. This is not an exact science here, if you are a little off it won't be visible at all. If you don't take off enough material, you can always go back and cut a little more. Just put the seam in the middle on the bottom like it was to begin with. I used a stout set of sharp scissors to make the final cut and it came out nice and flush. One other thing to verify is that you got the right channel, by holding it up against the original and making sure the dimensions are the same.

Thank you...I appreciate the insight....

Quoted from kermit24:

Can you backhand the Death Star ramp at 6.8? I have found that 6.5 is perfect since it allows me to backhand it.

I have trouble backhanding the death star ramp along with the right ramp at 7....I can backhand the left ramp easy....maybe I guess need to lower mine...

Quoted from Jason_Jehosaphat:

** Star Wars vs. AC/DC? **
I know it's not the best comparison, and I know "vs" threads are irritating to many, but I would love to hear from any SW Premium owners who also happen to have a AC/DC Premium.
(The more obvious thread is a comparison between MET Premium and AC/DC Premium - which I've read, with keen interest.)
I'm shopping for a pin and these two are presently the strongest contenders that are offered for sale in my region.
Thanks in advance for any/all opinions on how the two titles compare and if, in your case, one gets more plays in your collection than the other.

I have both sitting side by side...I love both games so its pretty difficult to pick one over the other....both are very fast, and fun....as you know AC/DC has mature code, SW code seems to be getting better and better....I'd say if you love AC/DC more than than SW get AC/DC....if you like SW more than AC/DC then pick up a SW.....cant go wrong with either....

#3589 6 years ago

Looks like a cool mod....how much is it delivered to the US?

#3601 6 years ago

Has anyone powder coated their SW trim? I'm thinking about doing it, but looking for ideas on what color would look best?

#3672 6 years ago
Quoted from bigbadmiker:

I'm getting a Star Wars premium in the next couple months and wanted to see what mods and protectors people are putting on their pins.
I was thinking for protectors, I would want a shooter lane protector like the one from pinball life (https://www.pinballlife.com/index.php?p=product&id=4130). Do I need another protector for the other side, the side of the cabinet where the ball bounces off and lands in the shooter lane? I've seen the clear mylar or plastic, but don't really care for how it looks.

If I was you I would put Cliffy protectors on the shooter lane, drain, and possibly a couple on the roll overs where the ball drops from the ramps. I added mirror blades, shaker, bezel over the small screen, invisiglass, if u like adding a sub woofer i would get the pinnovators sub mod.

#3676 6 years ago
Quoted from bigbadmiker:

I looked at Cliffy site and didn't see a shooter lane protector for Star Wars. Where did you get yours?
Sounds like I'll have most of the same mods. Have mirror blades and typical Polk sub already. Going to pick up PDI glass and shaker when I get pin. I'll need to order pinnovators card as the one I have currently is for my STTNG.

I got mine directly from Cliff....picked them up at his house.....shoot him an email....make sure u get the spike 2 pinnovator sub card....its cheap $30....makes a big difference....

#3679 6 years ago
Quoted from Mbecker:

So the premiums are going for roughly $2k over the pros? Is that typical? I can’t remember.. but I thought gb difference was closer to a grand?

NIB Premiums are roughly $7200 delivered ... give or take ....not sure what the pros go for?

#3684 6 years ago
Quoted from PlayPin:

I would like to add a subwoofer to S.W.P. I don't see any for sale at pinnovator, just a kit to hook you own box? I don't want a sub on the floor, just a better woofer in the bottom of the cabinet. I ordered a kit for my S.T. from flipper fidelity which I don't like at all. The bass drowned out all voices & call outs so that I could not make them out. I put the original speakers back into the speaker panel and left the sub in the lower which helped a lot. It still does not sound right though and I am going back to 100% stock on S.T. and feel I wasted $150 plus shipping now. Is there any good kits that produce clear and balanced sound for these Stern games? Of course all these games need more bass but not at the expense of losing clear voice call-outs, etc. Any help advice really appreciated!

I got the board kit from pinnovators, and hooked up an external sub (Polk $89)....if you are looking for better internal speakers u may want to try flipper fidelity....I have installed several in the past, but prefer the external sub since the sound is superior....

#3687 6 years ago

I would try the PInnovators spike 2 sub mod, and buy a $90 exterior sub....the sound is great....much better than the sound on my Met and ACDC, which had flipper fidelity speakers installed.....

#3690 6 years ago
Quoted from PlayPin:

I really don't want an external sub though. Are you unhooking the factory woofer in the lower cabinet with this kit? Are the speaker panel(top) speakers just stock?

no on unhooking the factory sub, and yes on the factory speakers....After several failed attempts I ended up installing external subs on all my machines....makes a big difference....the good news with this setup is that its easy to remove and reuse if you ever decide to sell the game....u won't get your money back with the Flipper Fidelity speakers.

#3696 6 years ago

Looks great on the pro....I have the premium....looks like its between storm trooper white, Blue, or black with white specs.....

#3698 6 years ago

Anybody have any issues with your death star not opening on both sides? currently on my premium the left side only opens....

#3707 6 years ago

I don't think the game is bare at all (at least the premium/LE's)....it has the Millennium Falcon, Death Star, Tie fighter, hyper loop, lcd screen, multiple ramps.....the game is a total blast to play....having anything else in the play field would detract from its flow and fast play....

#3739 6 years ago

Anybody seen this issue with their death star? Ive adjusted the hold power, but doesn't seem to do anything (actually not sure what that adjustment does?)

Quoted from zacaj:

There should be two arms in the back that are attached to the coil, are they both moving okay?

let me check...I assume their under the play field...

#3744 6 years ago
Quoted from D-Gottlieb:

They are behind the death star. Pull the playfield forward. I had a set screw come loose and the arm disconnected. 5 min fix.

it was the set screw...not sure it was ever installed as its no where to be found in the game....

#3749 6 years ago
Quoted from Wildbill327:

I totally agree with you, after owning this game for a few weeks I finally played a game on my Metallica pro and scored 500,000,000+ and was the closest I’ve ever been to end of the line.

This is so true....after playing my SW for a few weeks I went back to my AFMRLE and put up 17B....Highest prior was 8B

#3763 6 years ago

Anybody had issues with Stern responding to technical issues? I sent them an email three days ago with no response. The good news is I figured out my problem with the help of fellow pinsiders, but its pretty bad that they haven't even responded. JJP and CGC have always responded in less than 24 hours....

#3768 6 years ago
Quoted from TheLaw:

Phones still work great for contacting people

Ha...I get it....JJP an CGC like email correspondence prior to phone contact....I guess I'm trained wrong....will try the phone route...

#3770 6 years ago
Quoted from fosaisu:

Also people seem to get best results from Stern going through their distributor (assuming you bought NIB).

Yes, but its very inefficient ....I prefer to speak to someone directly if possible. The good news I figured out my problem....one of the set screws was never installed on the Death Star linkage in the back of the play field. I picked one up at the local hardware store today

#3773 6 years ago
Quoted from mbelofsky:

I'm playing around with my new game. I added the following two Hot Wheels 40th anniversary ships to the back. I used a 1/16" aluminum rod with a glue gun. I tilted it away from the back so it would not scratch the artwork. I like it but I am not sure if I am comfortable with it in the game. I realize that the game does not really need anything else but I am buying toys for my toys.
Any comments or criticisms welcome. Thank you. Michael

Looks good....if you like it keep it....

#3807 6 years ago
Quoted from monte_:

I replaced the flipper rubbers on my machine with titan rubber rings bit I feel like the new ones dont grab the balls as well. Does anyone know what is on the original flippers? Or reccomendations on what company to buy from?

Thats interesting...I replaced the factory rubbers with Titans and my Titans grab the ball much better....

#3880 6 years ago
Quoted from konghusker:

Curious about le/premium owners thoughts about the game now after it's been out a long time now? Depth, reliability, durability etc. Considering a premium.

Buy with confidence....great game....not easy, but will make u a better pinball player...

#3903 6 years ago
Quoted from Brian541:

Just got my premium delivered friday,Its an ass kicking ball draining bitch but totally awesome to me!2 days live in the arcade and hyperloop has never been activated,Hoping its poor play and not actually anything wrong with it.

Enjoy .... its a great game once u get it dialed in...hope u got the shaker? its a must in this game

#3909 6 years ago
Quoted from Brian541:

Didn't get the shaker yet but will be,Should have been included!

You can purchase from pinball life or coin taker for $100....I agree it should have been included, but it is was it is.....shaker really helps the overall experience...just make sure u get the spike 2 shaker...very easy to install

#3911 6 years ago
Quoted from fosaisu:

I’ve got the pinballlife shaker I’m my SW and it’s great. Supposedly very similar action to Stern model, but I haven’t compared them. And save an extra 15% by buying two+ if someone in your area wants one too.
Never had a cointaker shaker but have read they’re very aggressive, some love them some don’t.

Ive had both....I didn't notice much of a difference....apparently some have

#3917 6 years ago
Quoted from Mudflaps:

Yeah, careful with non-Stern shakers. The non-OEM shaker fried 2 GB node boards after a few months.

Good point...that being said I had zero issues....

#3957 6 years ago
Quoted from adamross:

Just joined the club! Plays great, except scoop is shooting balls SDTM, any suggestions? Game is perfectly leveled.

I had to bend the metal guide a little so that when the scoop ejects it hits the left flipper (as its supposed to do).....works perfectly now

#4001 6 years ago

I have the premium and have zero issues with the inner loop...side drains are brutal, but zero issues with the inner loop

#4011 6 years ago
Quoted from John_I:

I just wanted to share my experience with the Stern light saber side rail upgrades. I really love the LE side rails and tried to get some with no luck. Instead I ordered the Stern light saber side rails and installed them. Two problems were apparent right away. First was the backing was not held down well enough which caused shadows in the cut out area especially along the blade portion. Second problem was the handle portion of the cutout area used such fine lines that you basically could not see the saber's handle shape unless the room was well lit and you were looking directly straight on so you could see the white backing.
The first problem was an easy fix. I removed the rails and taped the backing down along the entire length in a way that is not visible from the front and reinstalled the rails. The second problem still remained a head scratcher. I did some quick research on putting in some EL backlighting, but that led to dead ends and I wasn't sure it would fix the problem anyway. Long story short I decided to hand paint some outlines on the handles. Not being an artist, I simply got a fine white paint pen and simply/carefully ran it along all of the edges in the cut out areas representing the light saber handles. This worked awesome and was done in about ten minutes per side. Now even in low light you can actually tell its a light saber and it looks infinitely better from all angles. The handles stand out now in any light with just that little added paint.
I attached some pictures below. The camera on my Samsung phone is so darn good in low light it was hard to get a good "before" pictures because the camera made it look better than it actually looked to the eye. You can still get the idea.
In the end I am now really happy with these. It still would be cool if someone would create a light kit though.

where did you buy these? they look great

#4065 6 years ago
Quoted from Brian541:

Update,Still no hyperloop ever,The fork ramp never activates in game play or in test,Looked under the playfield at it and all connecting wires seem to be ok.Super discouraged at this point since I was on the fence for so long over pro versus premium. Now I just have the most expensive proemium ever!Damn!Screwed again!

I wouldn't waste anymore of your precious time, and get on the phone with Stern...they should walk you through the trouble shooting process
