Interesting you have SW and Getaway literally side by side given the similar nature of the 'toy' on both.

I hadn't thought that when I bought it but once I activated it for the first time, I realized I had two Steve Ritchie pins with the same tech only 23 years apart. The Getaway may need to find a new home as much as I love it. Gotta pay for this new pin.

Joined as of yesterday. Premium arrived! My very first NIB! And it even fits the theme of my theater room. Love the smell of a new pin!

Looks like ours were pretty close to being built at the same time if we can go off of serial numbers... I am 271692 and you are 271695.

is that ghosting in the middle insert and chipping paint on the top of the endor insert?

Yes

#1205 6 years ago

Ouch....sorry.

I got about 80 games or so in on my Star Wars Premium and it's been playing great up until now. Today I was in the middle of a game when the flippers started to only work intermittently. When you push the flipper buttons the flippers only go up for a split second. Even if the buttons are being held in the flippers just sort of weakly pulse.

So found this thumb screw in my box. Looked all over the place and can't find where it came from. Any ideas?

My wife's Sister and her family came up from Baca Raton and are staying with us now. Hope you all down in FL are hunkering down and hanging in there.

This is weirdly common.

When I got my ST, same thing. And I made the same post. I've seen the same post by several others as well.

It's probably about time to start a Stern thumbscrew complaining thread.

With any luck someone will post a wall of text about the history of thumbscews and how quality is consistently diminishing.

Someone else will make a comment about how JJPs thumbscrews are either vastly superior or inferior to Sterns.

Someone else will need to step in and burn PPS for thinking about ditching thubscrews all together.

There will be an inevitable 'cargument' but then hopefully all disputes will be resolved with the recently accepted 'fartgument'

Last but not least will be some Heighway and DP dreamers just wishing pins would actually show up to their houses regardless of the status of the screws.

Question, have all of the LE's been built and shipped? Still waiting on my order, no update yet. Anyone else waiting for their LE as well?

think so. im 640 and i saw some peeps that were like 760. i would think? hope you get as soon as possible.

Quoted from orb:

They are not built in numerical order necessarily. BUT, typically all LE models are built before Premiums start shipping, which we know is well underway.

Here is the likely (example) scenario: The distro has SWLE, Ghostbusters, and Metallica on order. SWLE and GB is complete, but not Metallica. So the Metalllica holds up the shipment to the distro until his order is complete. SWLE sits in the back of Stern's factory until the complete shipment is ready.

The delivery of my pin has become very bittersweet... It is due to arrive on Tuesday. Sadly I got the call to schedule delivery while I was sitting in the Neuro ICU at the hospital. My dad who has helped me set up all my pins, and supported me in my lunacy, had a massive stroke Tuesday night. This will be the first time a game will arrive, where he will not be there to help. He is doing better every day, but has a very long road ahead of him. He is already shocking the doctors, but if you knew my dad that wouldn't surprise you. He has always been determined to prove people wrong.

Hopefully the moments I do get to play it I can just drift off to a galaxy far away, and forget about the reality of everything right now.
It brings things into perspective, this is just a hobby and there are so many more important things in our lives.
Keep your loved one close

Also:
I think my mom though I was crazy, But my dad didn't, and built the two arcade cabinets I have in my basement. Like I said he always supported my lunacy no matter how odd the request.

I added some mirror blades to my SWLE. I saw someone post a picture of them, and thought it looked great, and since I had some extras sitting around...
While doing so, I couldn't help but notice that on my LE there is hardware on both sides of the cabinet to support something like a blade, that really has no other purpose. I imagine if there were plans and they scratched them, they wouldn't have added that hardware, I wonder if something is still planned but not released yet? Maybe this has already been discussed?

#1224 6 years ago

I would like to add a tournament button to my SW premium. The hole is round instead of square...is the button not supossed to be recessed? Did Stern change this to a round recessed button? Has anyone played it in tournament? If so, what was the button like?

Every stern game has them, they serve no purpose that I can see. Take them out if they interfere.

My game came with the button installed. The Canadian games usually have them by default.

Thanks! It's just a standard tournament button that's not recessed. The picture really helped. My wife and I usually have a tournament going (just us). She's VERY competitive.

Quoted from Lermods:

I believe those brackets have a very important purpose - they help center the playfield and keep it from pressing against one side of the cabinet or the other and allows for better alignment with the shooter rod. I always remove them, install my blades, and then reinstall after.

#1229 6 years ago
Quoted from RetroGamerJP:

plays great - I have protectors on all my machines... honestly I don't think it feels any different than it did before the protector since the playfield itself is brand new.
I did not have to adjust anything on the game after putting it all back together. The protector does not interfere with anything that requires adjusting.

Thank you very much. Ours will be arriving in the next few days. Looking forward to getting and playing SWLE.

Today was a blast! Not only did my Star Wars premium make its way up my stairs and into its new home, but Lonnie McDonald - world record holder on Joust - was in the house, and put up a 9,999,999 score on my Joust machine during the proceedings (I'm the bald one):

Finally a somewhat decent 6.5 bill game with 231 Ties. A long day of football, pizza, & 14 beers I'm calling that a moral victory.

Fun game man. Very similar to GOT but very diff'rent at the same time.

#1233 6 years ago

I only had 4 all day.

Good score! Go do it again!

Thanks, I had barely eek'd out a 1.5 before. Still learning a lot of the rules. Goddamn Endor bunker mission confuses the shit out of me to no end

#1235 6 years ago
Quoted from luvthatapex2:

Yep, 3 people will think its aggravating and keep feeding money while 7 people will get pissed off and refuse to play the game. I'd adjust it for sure if you care about the cash box.

Absolutely; we fixed it right after I posted. All our games are set up to play nice and fair; on the side of easy rather than hard, actually, since location pinball here has been dead for so long that most everyone playing are newcomers.

For anyone wondering: We fixed the SDTM issue the quick'n'easy way for now, by tuning down the eject coil strength from 40 to 20.

I hate Star Wars, but this game is fun! Finally got to play tonight and I actually enjoyed it. Surprised the hell out of mr.
Congrats to those who have bought.

No...congrats to YOU! Don't you know you're supposed to dump on SW if you don't actually own one? It's a Pinside rule, I believe.

Thanks for your positivity and for sharing it here.

Where'd you score the new translite? Bought straight from Stern? Or did you find an LE owner willing to sell?

#1240 6 years ago

fosaisu somebody who presumably owns an LE was selling their alt. translites on eBay.

I agree. Maybe because they dont sit flush but yeah they don't look right to me. The bezel on the mini LCD looks like a bad move to me too. Leave the bezel black to make the screen pop. There is no need to put anything on it imo but each to their own.

Perfectly agree. I would consider the speaker covers if they were one piece, meaning a complete replacement for the lower section holding the screen and speakers. Like this... Meh.

I've run into the oddest glitch. I'm not exactly sure how it's happening, but three times now my pin has gone completely dark with the flippers still working in the middle of playing. The pin will reboot itself after about 30 secs to a minute. All three times I was deep into the game with 4+ billion points. It has never happened to any score less than that. I'm at a loss for what could possibly be causing this.

Edit: It's a prem

#1250 6 years ago

I always find it oddball when people openly criticize with absolutely nothing to gain from it and said criticism changes nothing. Given the option between these two images, the latter provides connectivity to the villain themed translite that the former does not. It's all in the name of fun, let it be.
