Because casual players don't know what to do because of its complexity. It's a perfect home game for the same reason tho.

Midnight madness had nothing to do with them node board issue i think. Disney killed it. There node board thing was coincidence.

So this is some fun information to dive into from a Star Wars Pro that was on location all its life. Also been running the same .94 code it shipped with, so these are all accurate Audits with no resets. Tell you what, the game looks fantastic and you'd think it wouldn't based on all the balls played. I needed to shop it for sure and get some elbow grease on to the dirty playfield, but looks brand new.

These audits also show what a damn difficult this game can be if you don't practice what Yoda preaches....Patience. Trap up, make your shot. Was just learning the multiplier feature and now that I've picked the lock, version 1.10 is writing to an SD card. Will be fun to notice the changes for sure.

That's just my opinion of course. I personally love the game, including the frenetic action introduced by the moving multiplier, the fast Ritchie layout, and Dwight's great modes and code.

Hi everyone! Joined the club today with a used pro. Yay! I’m sure I will be inquiring about a lot of things but, My first big question is where do you find the Death Star super laser led replacement board #520-7041-00 in the us? Forgive me if my Internet skills are lacking, but I’m only seeing European suppliers for that. Mine has 2 lamps out (somehow, seeing the Death Star smiling at me is not so menacing lol) Thank you in advance and I appreciate all help! Love this game and looking forward to putting in many hours. Fast, challenging and the theme is….Star Wars, man!! Stoked!

I'm thinking of trading my pro. We only have room for one game and SW has been the perfekt game for that situation. There are so many things to explore. Took me a while to find out how to get the escape from Boba Fett mode for example. Only thing on the negative side is that it is so goddamn fast and punishing. In my book it's a great pinball machine.
But here's the thing. In Sweden the market for pinball machines is, if not controlled, but strongly influenced by what the competition scene thinks of a game. And they don't like SW. I think it's the multiplier... To me a fair trade with no money going either way would be any modern Stern about the same age. Gotg, Munsters, Deadpool etc. But for some reason, with the exception of Munsters which they absolutely hate, the other games are higher rated... I don't get it. SW is a good pinball machine. Period.

Easy fix, just order a few 3 mm green leds,make sure they are clear not green color,I just fixed a few on mine,easy to unsolder the old ones and replace with new ones,of ask a friend to help if you can’t.

The board comes out with two easy screws and one connector.

I gave Star Wars the treatment I give all my Stern games. The best mod. Attract mode videos and some in game changes. Not shown in the video is the new ball save video that replaces the carbonite chamber blowing steam. Makes no sense why that is a ball save clip. I changed it to Luke swinging Leia over the platform from the stormstoopers in Deathstar in A New Hope.

I've already made a new version that tweaks some editing issues I've spotted. Also replaced the Star Destroyer background so it is going thru hyperspace instead of having the Death Star in view. Looked too much like a still image on the game prior. Made a few other videos changes as well and am creating the next version of SD card now.

Many people trashed the artwork and lack of toys. The software wasn't all that hot at first too.

My biggest complaint with it involves the LE ... there was *nothing* added to the LE except for garbage, flat black powder coat and armor that features white cardboard behind the cutouts. Oh, I forgot, they threw in the other translites. No side blades, no invisiglass, no improved audio system ... there was virtually nothing added over the premium!

Still, I had to have an LE because I am a moron . I managed to get a used one when they dipped in price about a year after release ... it basically cost me what a NIB Premium would have cost. There is no way I was going to pay over $8K for the LE when it was released though . That'd be different today of course, but not back then.

I still find it pathetic that they stripped the LE version of something like Star Wars ... they claimed that Disney charged too much for the license, but why skimp on the LEs? It shouldn't have cost Stern that much to just add frigging invisiglass, side blades, and maybe a shooter rod to the LE, but they felt comfortable enough to release it as-is. I guess they knew it was going to sell out without the extra crap.

Oh well, the most important thing is that the pin now kicks ass and it one of the best . I can't get enough of it . Mastering the multiplier has been a lot of fun .

Is there a separate audio track for the asteroid field? I'd *love* to change that to play the asteroid field music from ESB.

Odd ... mine died recently too. In my case, the 5V regulator died. It's kind of a bitch to replace too since the underside of the chip is soldered directly to the board as are its legs (they do this so that copper planes on the PCB can act as a heatsink).

I say "it's a bitch to replace" in that if one doesn't have much experience removing surface mount devices, it's easy to rip up the pads when you're removing the chip due to applying excessive heat. I'm *OK* with surface mount repairs and even I had to add a couple of wires to work around screwing up two pads.

Anyway, there are LEDs on the Node 9 board that will give you a hint as to what is wrong. If you don't see any of these LEDs lit, then the 5V regulator is dead. Someone with decent surface mount repair skills can fix, and the part itself doesn't seem to be too big of a problem to find. Since I am only "OK" at repairing this stuff, I can't offer to repair it for you since there's still a risk I will make things worse (if it didn't have that pad on the bottom of the chip, I know I could do the repair perfectly ... I hope you understand ).

I wish I could figure out what was taxing the regulator to cause it to die ... if you can, let me know if you have no LEDs on your node 9 board ... two of us having this problem is a coincidence ... if anyone else has the problem, there might be something in the design that's screwed up.

I'll work on audio at some point. Only having the game for a few days, and then only a day or so on the current code, I don't have a feel for anything yet.

I'd read a while ago that there were some cool existing packs done by the community, but apparently only for the premium/LE models... so it's nice to see that it's also possible on the Pro version !
If you're willing to share your work or if anyone has links on existing stuff for the pro version, I'd be keen to check it !

to change the regulator on the node board, i used a mini hot plate.
it's so easy but you must have skill with your hand and have good eyes.
I heat to 330°, it takes a few seconds, I hold the regulator with tweezer pliers, then I clean the 9 pads (8 + ground) I put a little tin, I replace the regulator well centered, I rest on the hot plate, and within seconds the regulator is seen to solder.
the surface of the plate is about 1 inch, you just have to remove the capacitor C24 (the big blue of 220µf) to be able to plate the heating tool well

It’s a very good game but has some major flaws. My biggest complaints are the plunge to no where and the custom music. It’s also brutally hard which doesn’t make a lot of sense for a theme like Star Wars. The rule set and multiplier idea is genius and the best part of the game IMO. It’s definitely a players game and I think most people expected an instantly gratifying world under glass

That's what I used. You have to be careful with the temperature and the time you hold the hot air over the component. I have removed/replaced several components this way w/o hurting the board (not just on pinball machines). The only reason the voltage regulator is a bit more tricky is due to the large pad under the component that is soldered to the board (along with the 8 pins).

The hot plate is a great idea ... much safer if you're not comfortable with the air gun ... I simply don't have one .

the heat gun is too dangerous for the cards, simply because the airflow is too high and too dispersed.
it sure melts the pewter but if you get the wrong move you risk moving a lot of small components.
it is better to use a hot air station, you can limit the airflow and the small nozzles allow you to focus the temperature more precisely.
I worked like this until I discovered this wonderful little heating tool

I realized I had yet to play the video mode. Upon inspection, I needed to adjust the switch arm for the Deathstar gamet entrance/exit. Only a strong hit would register.

But then, get this, I went into coil test and the double post gate wouldn't raise. Could hear the coil try. Lifted the playfield, checked by hand and yeah it was physically bound. At first it appeared the left post was catching on the ball rail guide. I removed the guide screws and it didn't have any play...maybe a mm at most.

I removed the mech after playing with the tightness of the mounting screws and washers under the screws to hit the sweet spot of the plunger moving freely.

I determined the white space holes needed to be enlarged. I don't think these posts ever raised in the entire life of the game. That would explain the lousy scores and achievements in the Audit log dump.

I used a 3/8" drill bit and opened the holes up and now the double post gate raises and lowers fine; the switch registers all shots and I've made it to video mode several times. Also nice to see the gate hold the ball in various situations; my Hoth and Deathstar shots do something now as well.

I'm not entirely sure but I can certainly find out for you. The chap who I got the machine from usually puts Stern blades in as standard but I can ask him.
