So I thought I fixed the ball lock / dual post under the death star yesterday...the two posts needed tightening from below. Played maybe 20 games after that and then the posts started getting jammed or stuck on the way down, thus never releasing the ball. Opened up the playfield again and the slide action of the ball lock plunger assembly is not smooth at all. Please forgive my newbie question but is there lube or something for this or would this indicate a part replacement is required. Manuan's part reference numbers: 5.21 / 5.22 - 500-1077-00 / 511-9981-00 respectively. Thanks ya'll! Super thankful for this community and space to learn.

First make sure the posts aren't jamming in the playfield holes. If the assembly bracket is bent at all, that can happen. I had to bend mine a bit to keep them aligned right. If that isn't the problem, I would take the assembly apart and make sure the coil sleeve is clean and there isn't any dirt in there. Worst case I guess change the coil sleeve (they are cheap and easy), but I would be surprised if it needed it already. My best guess is alignment through the playfield holes. Just gotta get in there and see what is going on. Do not lube. Almost nothing on a pinball machine should ever be lubed (other than gear boxes or a drop on a spinner). Good luck and let us know what you find!

Awesome! I figured there had to be a pre-made MF from Stern. I'll likely go that route for the first one.

Here you go... I am not sure how many of these are out there, but I wouldn't wait a long time to grab one.

It is literally plug and play.

Need only 4 more ratings submitted for Comic Edition Premium in order for it to be eligible for Pinside Top 100!

This game is grossly underrated IMO and could use a boost.

Get those votes in asap so that Star Wars can take its rightful place in the Top 20 of the Pinside Top 100!!!

Strangley enough I had pivoted the machine to have more room to slide the glass / playfield out to look at the assembly again but decided to play a game since the ball lock posts were down. Has been playing for 2 hours without issue but I also have not moved the machine back to its' original position in the room - had a level table in both positions so I don't position affected it. Perhaps the power cycle aspect of keeping it off all day helped?

Ordered it 10 minutes ago! This is a necessary mod!

Thanks for the shout out.

I have received pms asking about what models the work with. They are designed to work with all models (Pro, Premium, and Limited)

I also now make a kit for Data East Jurassic Park and Bally Xenon and many more titles are currently in development and will soon be released.

So my SW COMIC EDITION PREMIUM is my first pin ever and I had my first rubber ring break and I have no idea how to replace it. I ordered some more rubber rings, but I don't know how to go about getting it on once it arrives. One of the posts I can just fit over the top, but the other post is screwed in on the top and bottom. It looks like to remove it I'd have to remove a spotlight and shift some of the wireform. Is there an easier way?

Just remove the nut, being careful of washers, that holds the wireform in place. You will need to first lift up the playfield for better access.
You will need to remove the philips screw as well and the other screw that holds the wire clip. Carefully lift it enough to slide in the new band.

Has anyone added any custom video with Chewbacca in it they are willing to share? Not too comfortable with pinball browser myself yet.

Was gonna say Flipnout but I guess I bought the last one about a month ago..

Don't even own the game yet but I knew it would be hard/impossible to get the topper so I went with the pre-emptive buy. Waiting for the next run of regular art to get me a NIB Prem. Should be Feb-Mar, depending on how much COVID is screwing their production schedule..

Default value is "HIGH/LOW SHELF".
"NONE": No filtering will be performed on the audio output.

Sliders are used to adjust the Gain of a specific range of frequencies.
The Frequencies are: 31Hz, 62Hz, 125Hz, 250Hz, 500Hz, 1KHz, 2KHz, 4KHz,

- Games will now persist ALL SETTINGS after a software update. This
functionality will be available in the game release AFTER the release which
uses system 2.24.

- Correct the delay between multiple Q24 knocker requests. Previously the
knocks would happen too rapidly and sound like a single loud knock. Now
there will be a 3/4 second delay between knocks. If the sound effect
knocker is also enabled, it will be synchronized with the Q24 knocker.

- Updated COIN DOOR EDITOR to display the selected settings and whether they
are the FACTORY default or CUSTOM configuration.

- Added Custom Coin Door Editor.
You can specify the UNITS PER PULSE for the base coin and the number of
PULSES generated by each coin switch (left, center, right, 4th, 5th,
6th). The UNITS have a range of 1 to 10000 and PULSES have a range of 0
to 100. For example the USA coin door has a UNIT of 25 and the left and
right slots generate 1 PULSE and the center slot (the DBV) generates
four PULSES. The coin mechanisms accept quarters and the DBV dollars.
Therefore, the UNIT is 25 (for 25 cents) and the left and right generate
1 PULSE for a single quarter and the center slot generates 4 PULSES for
a dollar bill being four quarters.
If Standard Adjustment "Game Pricing" is changed to a selection with
different UNITS PER PULSE than the active CUSTOM coin door, the custom
coin door will be reset to the factory default for that Game Pricing
selection.

- Added system adjustment for Spike 2 games when a headphone kit is installed:
"MUTE KNOCKER IF HP DETECTED" - will not play replay knocker sound when
headphones are in use. Default value is NO (not muted).
"DISABLE Q24 KNOCK IF HP DETECTED" - will not fire Q24 knocker coil when
headphones are in use. Default value is NO (not disabled).

- DIAG->NODE->BRD->Overcurrent Test now displays Drive/Coil and Light/LED
description instead of device address.

Don't see any reason to update. I don't want to use my pin as a jukebox. Plus, I have a lot of non-pinball friends. When they or their kids come up to a machine, the first thing they do is double flip. I can see them getting stuck in that game mode menu system. Seems pointless to me. I wish they would have added a few more drain clips to add some variety.

If you have a lot of kids and non-pinheads playing the left flipper start button quit feature is awesome for those four player games kids start.

Yes, but did they get rid of the Yoda end ball call outs?

To me this update is worth it just to be able to limit the video modes finally. I also want to install the coin door switch on the game so it's nice to see that they've tweaked the code to support that fully. It also says there's some sound tweaks that seemed very worthwhile.

Looks like some nice functional changes, but virtually nothing to actual game play other than the ability to limit the number of video modes (yay!) and the target game length ball save feature (probably won’t use it, but I like the option especially if new pinball players are looking to play. Also like not only having one ball save so that back to back drains still get a ball save.

However, really disappointed in nothing new in terms of gameplay. No cantina scene, no new video modes, no change to Mystery, no change to call outs, etc.

Someone hasn’t had their coffee yet. You should perhaps read SLOWLY what you put in quotes. LOL

The order of the words and the question mark at the end are important.

Lol...I read it as “but they did” rather than “ but did they?”

A code update?! Cool!

Thank you Stern and Merry Christmas fellow SW owners!

#9784 3 years ago

What is that ball save limit at start ???

Does that mean you can save ball more than once on the same ball?

That might be helpful for auto drains.

So very happy to get this unexpected treat! As I have made abundantly clear, the video mode issue was my #1 wish, and I'm so happy Dwight fixed it! As far as video modes go, I love this one...but I do not want to see it 5-6 times in a good game. I am very thankful for this! Game end shortcut is definitely nice to have, and hopefully the audio tweaks will eliminate the minor clipping heard in a few sounds. Good stuff.

I will still hold out hope that someday he will go back and tweak some of the A/V priorities so the regular multiballs no longer step over the mini-wizard modes, and make finishing a mini-wizard more of a big event (I'd like to see the flippers killed even, at least as an option, then relaunch into Victory after the celebration). Of course a bit more variety in end of ball callouts would be cool too. These are minor asks though. Vid mode was the big one for me, so I am a very happy camper right now!

Thanks Dwight and crew!

Yes

I agree there are a lot of simple changes that could make this game better, but any update is better than nothing. I'm glad to see the video mode limits, but it would have been nice to still get some compensation for enabling it. In STTNG the video mode could be bypassed for points. Funny the video mode changes are not in the Premium Read Me file.

Yeah, there would have been a few ways to do it. I personally would have liked to see the STTNG method (trade for points), or even GoT (simple yes or no), but I'm definitely not mad with just not having it qualify again.

I had to format my thumb drive as exFAT to fit the file since it is more than 4 gig.

Things I noticed with this v1.10 update...

Stern logo comes up after 5 seconds upon turning on the game vs. 20 seconds or so
2 balls saves within my 10 second ball time setting
Game play tutorials during attract mode
Much less confusing multi colored inserts during modes
Some inserts are no longer lit if not related to the mode in play

DJ mixer, left plus start to quit game, limit video mode...all things I have seen people ask for.

YES! the left button / start to quit game is what I was wafting for. My other Sterns all have this but Star Wars was missing out.

Just a quick reminder that this update will wipe all your high scores and settings, just like the good old days. So if you have any customized settings such as kickout strength, Tatooine ball saver in case it kicks SDTM, stacking settings, knocker volume, etc, you will have to reset them. I admit I have gotten a little spoiled by most Spike updates not resetting everything.

Quoted from ausretrogamer:

- Added an adjustment to allow less video modes.
- Its called - ALLOW 2+ VIDEO MODES PER JEDI. YES is default.
- YES equals the FORCE targets will light Vidoe Mode each time you get
to the 3rd completion.
- NO equals the Video mode wil not light from the FORCE targets if you
have played the video mode once already. PLaying Jedi Multiball will
clear allow another video mode.

I see this on the Pro Read-Me, but not the Premium/LE. Am I missing something?

This took me by surprise also!

I did a full update and that definitely wipes out all audits and adjustment settings.

As I was reminded by a friend, the quick update is not supposed to erase the audits, but does it erase the adjustments?

I believe they said future updates won’t erase everything.

Correct, this is erasing everything because it is bringing Star Wars up to the current base software. Now that it has that, future updates will not loose those things, just like newer Sterns.

Made the update to my Prem. The DJ mixer thing is cool, but doubtful that I'll use it much. The only odd thing that I am experiencing is that I have gotten a TILT warning a few times, and I'm not a nudger. I've owned the machine for over three years (NIB) and have never gotten a warning. Then, in the middle of a great Leia game, I got a Slam Tilt out of nowhere. No clue how all this tilt stuff is happening. Ideas?

So does the premium code have the 2 ball save feature as well? It doesn't mention that in the release notes.
