Quoted from kcZ:Looks better than many HUO pins out there.
True
Game looks great. Looking at your earnings over the past few months, it would seem that the game isn't getting much play of late. At what point would you decide to rotate it out, or sell it for another piece of equipment?

We have one great location and lots of mediocre locations. We will rotate it back to the best loca9after a few months. Gotta let all the other great games get a chance too!
Quoted from lordloss:You made 46k off a mega touch!?
yup, I was actually pretty shocked as well.... then I got used to it.
The patron brought his wife to the bar literally everyday, they sat at the same spot.
He gave her a handful of $1's, she played megatouch and he talked to his friends.
Guess it took a while before he figured out he could save a bunch of money by bringing in an IPAD.
it was nice while it lasted, Still a lot of older people that play them, so I haven't sold them yet.
The two that were making big bucks are only making 200-250 btwn. both now … still not bad for a couple megatouches.
JVL sucks btw, the one I have made like 17 bucks last month. I have a megatouch right next to it that makes 80-120.
For whatever reason people like those better.
Quoted from Okarcades:Bad punctuation. Wax on and wax off....where ever it is dirty. ie playfield, ramps or plastics.
I can't get over how clean it is. When you say wax on wax off, exactly what product(s) and method are you using?

All that says is he waxes it once a month I'm trying to find out exactly what else he's doing to get these results it's crazy clean for so many plays.
Quoted from Chalkey:All that says is he waxes it once a month I'm trying to find out exactly what else he's doing to get these results it's crazy clean for so many plays.
I would also like to know. Game looks great!
Quoted from Chalkey:All that says is he waxes it once a month I'm trying to find out exactly what else he's doing to get these results it's crazy clean for so many plays.
Seriously. I just use a $5 can of carnuba turtle wax from the auto store. I just make sure to clean it everything I take the glass off.
So are you saying all you do is put new wax on the playfield? Like you wax it, then next time you just put more wax on without using novus, naptha, or anything else?
Quoted from Chalkey:So are you saying all you do is put new wax on the playfield? Like you wax it, then next time you just put more wax on without using novus, naptha, or anything else?
Correct. No reason to take wax off. The ball does that. And most people don't out naphtha or novus on their cars.
Quoted from Chalkey:Do the ball trails / dirt come off when you wipe the haze I guess?
I use P21S for the wax (which takes up the ball trail dirt), then take it off with a shop cloth, then buff it out with a wool pad on a cordless drill. Makes the playfield SHINE with not a lot of work.
The drill attachment and washable wool pad can be had cheap at harbor freight:

Quoted from newpinbin:Where are we at now with the play count?
I'll check next time I go up for a service. The owner of the bar has been doing all the work.
Quoted from Spiderpin:It has been two months, time for cleaning. Clean out the cash box and get play count too.
Hopefully within the next few weeks I'll make it up!
Nothing wrong since the last time we were there. Just a quick wax and we were done!
33,414 plays!!!

Heck, I’ll dump dollars into anything on route. A nice working game is a rare thing out in the wild.

That's the reason we take care of it! We also like to play games that play great! And we know everyone else does too. 1 broken feature can cut a games earnings in half!!!

I went to arcade, some of the pins were so dirty and blown out that I couldn't play them. Had a ST premium looked like it was a total POS and TFLE was the same the PF was nearly black. yuck. Why have a pin on location it it plays horrible, I think that's a big reason pinball was dying on locations.
Stern was getting a lot of heat years ago when I started this thread. I sure hope some people out there can use this to feel better about their purchase.
This game has easily paid for it self and barely lost any value.
It has held up just amazingly!

Stern Spike games is/are the question. I didn’t hear any complaining about the SAM reliability.
Quoted from Okarcades:It has held up just amazingly!
Because you have taken care of it. The work you’ve put into it is the reason it’s in such good shape. I used to play a ST near my work (before I owned one) that had a lot less plays and was a mess. When the operator cares, it shows.
Over 35k plays. Not a dang thing wrong again. It's a tank and stern should be proud! Playfield looks great. I hope that 4 years later the bad stern playfield complaints can be laid to rest.

I’m putting my Star Trek pro on route tomorrow!
It's a great earner!
Final play count was 36,002! I forgot to snap a Pic but I looked.
Also the left flipper was flipped 2.7 million times and the right flipper was 3.4 million flips!
A combined total of over 6 million flips!!!
Quoted from rai:Sad to see this thread end.
How much did it sell for?
$3200. Needed a bit of work. Seemed like a low price but I thinks it's pretty fair for both sides

That was an EXTREMELY good deal. The buyer made out.

With 36000 plays and the Op stating it needed work
I agree with him when he said it was a fair deal

Meh. Don't get too hung up on the play count. The amount of documented work needed was mostly minor. I'd buy star trek pros at $3200 all day long in this condition. Could have easily got $3700-$3900. $3200 is an extremely good deal for the machine documented here.

If one popped up near enough to me at that price I'd buy it too, you make a good point about being documented, I'm just saying it's a reasonable and fair deal, but nothing like this is popping up near me lol
