wish I was closer so I could add some plays to that pin.
Not a darn thing wrong this week. Just needed a few new sling shot rubbers because the titans were cracked. Not sure if I ever added this to the thread but the back glass light won't work. New bulb new starter and new ballast. Weird!
Very happy. No playfield wear.

That's probably what I will do.

I had this issue with a new Star Trek. It was a pin pushed back in the connector located in the harness along the left side of the backbox. It would work intermittently.

I was curious how you kept the audits after update. I thought whenever you update it erased the audits.
Quoted from rai:I was curious how you kept the audits after update. I thought whenever you update it erased the audits.
I can't remember. I think the last update was before I started this thread. I think it wiped most of my metallica audits
Quoted from rai:I was curious how you kept the audits after update. I thought whenever you update it erased the audits.
I'm pretty sure the audits persist between updates. I update the ones at leagues all the time and the operator has never said anything about a coin drop / audit discrepancy.
Quoted from pinnyheadhead:Thanks for the updates!
Why are there 5000 free plays? Was it home use for a while? Any idea?
Replays and matches I bet.
Quoted from davjoszie:Replays and matches I bet.
Seems like a lot but yeah.
The amount of plays on this ST are even more impressive when you factor in that ST is not a butt kicker with short ball times. I mean if you are going to take a game on an on location journey you may as well take ST.

Matches and free plays! Maybe a few games for myself during test mode. Match is 10% which is 3k games alone. The rest people earned
Quoted from ccbiggsoo7:so is backbox working? you said it wasn't but in pics its clearly on?
I got an LED shop light and zip tied it on to the wire harness. I'd take a picture but it's a little embarrassing!
Just found this FORUM Friday night. Had to read all the post. Now I'm up to date and ready for next post. Now got to start reading the Metallica one. Thanks for posting this.

Thanks! Glad you enjoy it!
I just stopped to check on star trek. Everything was good except one pop bumper metal shaft broke so we replaced it. I forgot pics since I was in a hurry. 29,755 plays almost 30k whoop!

Now that's alot of plays. Almost time for 30,000 mile oil change.

Since it’s back on route, you may want to update the thread title.

You’re right! I’ll domit now
Well this machine finally cracked the 30k play mark and it has now been played 30,058 times!
GREAT WORK STERN!!!!
No issues this time either. Plays like a dream.
In my opinion, this thread has proved stern makes quality machines that earn well. $15,000+ in earnings. Even after the 50/50 split that easily pays for the game. Yes it took almost 4 years to triple its purchase price in total earnings but find me any other investment that does this.
Plus this game would probably still sell for $4,000.
It goes to show that a little tlc, monthly repairs and consistency in waxing and replacing balls can keep a machine in great shape.

This is a SAM machine, and SAM has a good history of reliability, so I'm not overly surprised. Is there any chance you have plans to route any Spike or Spike 2 machines so we can see the results of those machines on route?

I just picked up a GoT Premium that was in the same pinball bar since NIB. Owner was meticulous about keeping his pins in great shape. The GoT I picked up had 31,000 games on it. Aside from some shooter lane wear and a loose molex on the upper playfield everything plays perfectly and the game looks amazing. Just updated the code on it when I got home and the spike boards are fine. Solidly built game! Hope the node boards keep holding up.

Taking nothing away from Stern, any game with this much play and in stated condition says more about the owner/operator than the manufacturer. I am sure plenty has broken on that GOT Premium over the years and the owner did a great job with maintenance. Buy more stuff from that guy for sure. On my GOT Pro, it has over 20,000 plays and only one node board issue since new. Had more trouble with replacing a slew of optos, rollover switches and a broken sword lock bracket. Really not bad at all. I would gladly buy the game again knowing what I know now.

It would be interesting to know, if it is still running with its original Node boards. Take a look at them if the warranty/serial number sticker is still on them. They are original. If they are missing, they got replaced at some point.

Good to know. I will check them to see if they are original.
Previous owner said everything was original. I believe him. Still had unopened goodie bag inside the game. And I would totally buy another one of his barcade games. He really is meticulous about maintaining his machines.

30,480 plays and nothing but a broken rubber this time
Totally happy

What balls, cleaner and wax are you using?
Quoted from Chalkey:Sorry if you already answered this... how many games between waxing and changing balls? What balls, cleaner and wax are you using?
Wax around every 2 weeks. Usually comes out to around 200-300 plays. I use turtle carnauba wax.
And I change balls whenever they look nasty or scratched or pitted. I either use pinball life shiny balls or Marcos. I don't get the cheap balls cause they suck.

I was making almost 300 bucks a week off 2 used megatouches I purchased on ebay for 800 and 1200 bucks. That was until the main patron found out he could just put his wife on an ipad . Now they only bring in 70 a week if I'm lucky. Lasted for 3 years before they got wise.... Damn Ipads.
Congrats man, glad you got your ROI.

Could you expand on your upkeep a little bit? About to put my first on location at a private club. Won't get near as many plays as yours, but I do want to keep it in premium operating condition.
1) Cleaning process - Products you use...Do you remove any hardware? How do you clean the tight areas around pops, ramps, inlane/outlanes? Remove glass and clean both sides? Cleaning BG/Translite? Cleaning cabinet (Smoking allowed?)
2) Waxing process - Similar to above
3) Do you run lamp tests, solenoid tests, etc. each visit? Assume you address any credit dot/test reports.
Thanks in advance!
Always test vital parts that could stop the game from being operatable, like flippers , shooter, startbutton, coin acceptors etc.
I clean the games and glasses every time i come around them and wax them about once a month, at least high traffic locations.
Check lamps and rubbers on the fly and make sure you have them with you or keep spares in the machine (i have complete service kits in every machine i operate and has come in handy quite often)

I play it and fix it! Wax with carnuba and wax off where ever it's dirty. I just check the credit dots but I don't check solenoids except for playing. Switches I do once in a while waxing because it's fast.
As far as how far I go with cleaning I don't go super crazy except for when we shop around 10k plays.
The main thing we do is just play. We want the game to regularly play 100% working and fun. If it's not 100% then people won't play and the games won't make Money.
If I'm not happy then niether will the player!
Wax off wherever it's dirty... what exactly do you mean by that? Remove the wax with naptha and reapply?
