Stern, 2013Just got a used Stern Star Trek Pro and the Vengeance registering ghost hits.
It sometimes happens at mission select, selecting a mission for you. Mostly it's during game play.
It makes it easier than usual to start vengeance multiball 
I have cleaned both pair of optos by the magnet with no change.
Any ideas?

Is the drop target acting up?
It sounds like you mean it is registering too many hits, or phantom hits, instead of no hits. Is that right?
If so, check the ledge that the drop target sits on and see if it has a couple of washers between it and the bracket.

I had problems with my drop target not registering hard hots. All I did was shorten the spring to make it tighter and that fixed it. Some guys have issues where the drop target does not stay up. Mine never had that problem. Right now, the second vengeance opto is acting up on mine. It triggers randomly and makes the game do funny things. Hoping to fix that this week.

Yes, sorry I meant ghost hits. I will check the drop target, come to think of it the ball have bounced of the target a couple of times like it hit a brickwall.

I'll take a look at the spring and the whole assembly. I hope I'm not getting an opto problem because I've heard it's a real pain in the butt to get to those optos.

Hopefully it is just a mechanical problem. The mechanical problem is very common and relatively easy to fix. Read up in that thread I posted, and you'll get lots of advice.
