I think this is accurate. None of the modes are particularly difficult to finish. Some are difficult to get gold medals in though.
I have an original run premium on stock settings. I've gotten to 5YM 7ish times. (twice during covid)
I think if you can get to KM regularly, then you can get to 5YM.
Have to find some safe patterns and commit.
Can't go only flow. Need to be able to trap up and reasses occasionally.
Mental game comes in big late game.

I think the level 1 modes are ok. If you get a gold medal, a timer starts to end the mode. Also if you start the galactic mode, a timer starts to end the mode. Granted, you need 9 shots to get gold which isn't trivial.
But here's a code thought for the level 2&3 modes:
What if after you collect a bronze medal, the Away Team shot is lit for a mode ending shot. Maybe make it worth the 2 shots but not progress towards silver medal?
FWIW: I don't think there's any real chance of a code update.
