I'm attempting to put in one place; a comprehensive list of Stern Star Trek Mods. Ground rules are as follows:
1) The Mod must be unique for the Star Trek machines: Pro, Premium, or LE. General Stern mods are not allowed.
2) Mods are sorted by assigned category alphabetically - then by Price ascending (not including shipping). No special treatment will be given to any vendor.
3) Mod Name should be descriptive and will link directly to manufacturer's site first; in the absence of that the Primary distributor.
4) "corrective" mods are not allowed; use this Thread:
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/stern-star-trek-summary-of-fixes
5) Where possible; Original Pinside thread / announcement should be included.
6) If the mod is specific to a particular flavor of machine; it must be noted.
7) Mods the cease manufacturing and are permanently out of stock may be removed from list without warning.
8 ) Mods must be accurate to the JJAbrams universe.

Additional rules or changes to the rules may be added as the community provides feedback.

Manufacturer's are free to request addition, provide corrective input, or request to be removed from this comprehensive list. Suggestions to improve this list are welcome. Post here or by private IM.

For the moment; this list is a living shared spreadsheet on a google drive. Only I have editing rights; for the time being. Eventually I'd like to figure out a way to post this list here in the thread for easier first pass glance.

Spreadsheet is here:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2nkk3mbCcFQMDFicU5Ram9zM3M/view?usp=sharing

At the moment - ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.

A code update would be a good mod.
Sorry, I couldn't help myself.

Fair enough.

I'm personally fond of my apron mod. I painted it metallic blue and added two flashers in it that are tied to the vengeance flasher. makes for a cool light show. Best part is it cost me all of $20 in materials to do.

I don't know if he's making them any more but Erak was making some kickass Asteroid mods(Pro only I think?). I got the multiple asteroids version that sits on the Beta ramp lamp. Think I paid like ~$35 for it.

What's going with your flippers there? Haven't seen that mod before. Looks awesome! Would love to have those on my Pro.

#9 2 years ago

They "were" blue transparent flippers that I painted the inside metallic silver. I loved the way they looked but they only lasted about 100 games before falling apart thus the "were" part. I can't discourage people enough from getting them. I bought 4 sets at last years Texas Pinball Festival. By July all 4 of my sets were broken at the part where the flipper meets the metal post. Great idea on a product but poor execution.

Fantastic mod, great bang for the buck. Hides a relatively ugly area quite well.

If and when I pickup a ST, the Klingon ship (I think the D4 class patrol ship) will be a must have addition.

I'm assuming this is a DIY mod... where you painted the Pro apron w/ plastic paint?
Is there a pinside thread on this?

I'm not sure how to handle DIY mods... Maybe a separate category "DIY"?

#13 2 years ago

Yeah, it was DIY.

Aw, that's really too bad. From the pictures, they look so damn cool and fit the playfield design perfectly.

I can't believe how many mods I have installed on my pro. I think all of them are on that list. Another of my favorites are the Warp Ramp Chase Lights. Totally rad. I also got Invisiglass for my ST and the difference is amazing.

I have the Hallmark light-up Enterprise too, but I decided to turn it around so that it is facing towards me. That way I can actually see the lights on the nacelles. I really like it that way.

The interactive explosion mod for under the Vengeance is another awesome mod. Can't say enough about Aurich's translite and decals and so frikking glad I got the accompanying custom LED backbox kit for it. Just another big way that makes this game come alive! Of course I would be remiss in not saying how much I drool over Zitt's pop caps!

Sorry, just listing things that I know are already on there. I think ST has some of the greatest mods of any pinball.

Anyone make the Picard Maneuver Mod yet? » YouTube video

#16 2 years ago

Cant find the thread but there was a dude selling a topper that had the enterprise with light up nacelles, i bought one from him at the time

yeah - thanks for reminding me:
8 ) Mods must be accurate to the JJAbrams universe.
Re-using TOS or TNG ships in this new universe is not permitted.

So the guy who was selling those Ship Toppers used TOS graphics in his topper.

Anyone seen a mod or replacement for the plastic labelled 61 above the single drop target under the Vengence, I've got a crack in mine would like to replace with original or find another version.

#22 2 years ago

Is -61 the colored "explosion" plastic above the drop target?
If so; I'm thinking your only option is to contact your distributor for help... you'll probably have to order a full plastic set.

#23 2 years ago

This was a simple mod I made a while back. The bounce back I was getting from the scoop drove me nuts.

Given Stern has run another batch of Star Treks... I'm bumping this thread as a reminder for those new owners.

#26 1 year ago

Zitt, I still haven't heard why Speaker Light Kits don't make the cut.

The acrylic designs seem pretty game specific to me. They work in Premium and Pro models. The light kit alone can work in an LE also and it does a much better job of lighting up the LE panel than the Stern effort.

I have reviewed your products; and do not feel the meet the spirt of the mod list. Specifically; they violate the Rules 1) and 8). Namely:

1) The Mod must be unique for the Star Trek machines: Pro, Premium, or LE. General Stern mods are not allowed.
The Speaker Light Kits are generic - in that they will work in any recent Stern game via your own language:

Light Kit suitable for the following Stern machines.

AC/DC (LED Pro)
Iron Man (Pro Vault Edition)
Metallica (with round speaker holes)
Mustang
Star Trek (Stern: Pro and Premium) *Newer* speaker panel type. Click HERE for details.
Star Trek (Stern: LE)
The Walking Dead

8 ) Mods must be accurate to the JJAbrams universe.

The Acrylic Design posted :
http://speakerlightkits.com/Acrylic-Designs.html
is not accurate to the JJAbrams universe. The icon used appears to based upon the TOS movies; not Abrams Universe.

If you feel strongly that I've missed something; or am incorrect in my assessment - please feel free to post here; or via PM.

Just got my pro and so far it has shaker, pop caps, mirror blades, metal apron, warp diffuser, and on order is the vengeance lights and hallmark enterprise. I'm debating the klingon bop still.

I like the warp chase lights but they are oos. I saw a video somewhere that had a rainbow color changing chase light on the ramp. Is that the premium or a mod?

#30 1 year ago

I plan on getting a Pro as soon as I can sell a few machines. I will be browsing this thread a lot now

It could be a mod, but it is definitely part of the stock premium.

I don't think so. Premium/LE had only blue warp chase lights on the Warp ramp.
If rainbow color changing ramps was seen... it's likely an after market mod. Let me know if you find them in stock.

Perhaps they were later added? My stock premium, that I just purchased NIB last month, has color changing chase lights on the warp ramp. I'll take a video and post when I get home later tonight.

#34 1 year ago

......... WHA?
That would kinda piss me off. Or maybe I'm just not observant enough to see mine do that same.
Yes; please post a video.

Dang it, I was wrong, sorry about that. The chase light is blue. It was the color changer right above it in the insignia that had me mixed up.

I would definitely love to find that mod though, especially if you could sync it with the color changing fade of the rest of the inserts.

#37 1 year ago

I designed and made a new mount for the warp ramp on the exit side of the ramp so that I could adjust the up and down position of the exit and also protect and provide more robust mounting of the ramp by using all four existing holes plus the original mounting hole to mount the new ramp. I have some hardware left over and can make some more of these up if anyone wants one. I have an ad in the mods classified section with pictures and a better description of the mount.

Yes, you have missed something and yes, you are incorrect.

My Type 8 Speaker Light Kits are only for Stern's Star Trek...via my own language.

Light Kit suitable for the following Stern machine.

Star Trek (Stern: Pro and Premium) *Original* speaker panel type. Click HERE for details.

http://speakerlightkits.com/Type-8.html

Since this light kit type ONLY works with Stern's Star Trek......you really can't get any more unique or game specific than that.

People who have bought the Warp Ramp chase lights mod - how do you like it? Mezel mods don´t publish negative reviews so I would like to get your opinion. Also I wonder if "always on" means that it´s on during blacked out sequences like the start of Klingon multiball?
