Hi

I have a problem on a Kiss pro.

Was playing it and the ball got stuck in the scoop and failed to eject. All playfield lights went out and I had to switch off and on again to restart the game.

But when I did this it came up with a message saying Update node board runtime with 3 boxes numbered, 1, 3, 8. This update failed. I then went into the diagnostics menu to try to test the node boards but each one said not initialized.

So now the machine will show the screen fine in attract mode but no power otherwise and nothing lit on the playfield and can't start a game.

The 2nd led on the cpu pcb (top left) in the backbox is off. This I believe is the 9v node bus communication power supply so wondering if a fuse has gone.

I can't see any fuses in the backbox and although referred to in the manual, I can't see that it says where they are actually are in the game? Can see a few small ones on the nodes boards but which one would be the fuse for the 9v node bus power?

Thanks for any advice.

Cheers
Greg

Hi Greg

Would be worth having a looking under the playfield around this scoop as maybe a node board/cable has got damaged perhaps shorting out to adjacent metalwork or connector unpluged etc. Not 100% sure but try isolating playfield since any damaged playfield node board might be responsible, unplug the two RJ45 connectors at CN3 and CN22

Think your right you've lost the 9v node bus power supply - as far as i know the 48V from the power supply goes directly to the cpu board where the 5V, 9V and 24V power rails are generated. So it looks like a fault on this board. If you have another spike pinball your could swap over boards but only plug in the 48V in, think CN7 and check the power status leds light.

Unfortunately, It looks like I'm having the same problem with my KISS LE. Does anyone know what the outcome was with this problem? Thanks!

So, you do have a warranty, so step one contact your distributor about a fix or troubleshooting.

I've also seen/heard a couple things.

Node board failure, smd parts so repairable yourself if you can diagnose.

The connecting cable (Ethernet) was super tight causing a bad connection.

Was able to diagnose with Stern tech help. Bad node board, being sent out a replacement, no biggie. Thanks!
