My fan is running all the time, I thought this was by design. Is there anything I should check? Can I mess with the sensor somehow?

Quoted from capguntrooper:thats not good, I would see about getting a warranty swap, but it is either on or off, maybe bad update? Did you try reloading code?
I doubt it's code since it's been that way since day 1 and I've done a few updates since. I got it in Feb so warranty is up. I wish I knew before it wasn't meant to be always on.
Ok I am lost. I called both Stern and my distributor and they both said that didn't sound right and I was shipped a new one. I plugged it in and the same thing. The fan is on all the time, never turning off. Is it meant to be on all the time or not?
Now we are talking. Just saw this video and ordered a silent fan off amazon. I will report back once I replace the fan inside the PSU. Seems like it is meant to stay on all the time. It's interesting that none of the techs knew that.
This is the one I went for in case anyone is optimistic and wants a head start. It has 3 wires, red is low voltage and yellow is 12v. So I am going to use existing connector and just connect the 12 v and black ground. This fan is German engineering and has very low dba with high air movement. It also comes in a nice slimer green for ghostbusters owners.
Quoted from eliottk:Hello,
that's not correct, the yellow cable is the sensor cable for RPM to be controlled.
You only have to connect the red one to + and the black one to - (see picture)
That fan is ok and works fine in an spike system, I already installed one.or see this link:

Thanks for this. Not sure where I read that yellow was the 12v but this makes more sense. Im just going to cut the original connector off the original fan and splice onto the new fans red and black. A bit of solder and electrical tape to make the connection better. Is this what you did or did you use a 3 to 2 pin converter?
It's a pain getting any thing like that into Canada. It takes forever and shipping is like 10 bucks US. I couldn't find a local source so I am just going to attach the wires. It's really just connecting 2 wires together it isn't that big of a job. I could likely do it without solder at all.
