Wonder if this is running on Spike or if sam users can swap bins to run on old game

#702 3 years ago

There you go, its already out. Pics in other thread.

It's SAM. Bet they don't let old games update though. Can't give away the new dots like that.

#704 3 years ago

And there it is. Looks good. $7595 msrp. New TWD style magnet replaces the old doc oc. Laser cut rails.

So will the rules be identical, just new sounds/animations?

#705 3 years ago

Looks nice. Side armor is sick! I like how they updated to the new magnet with the metal surround and the new tilted speaker panel. Wonder what else changed?

They barely pay Lyman to code rules let alone encryption lol. Their encryption is remedial at best. If pinball people dont get to it you can pay a bounty to one of the 3dm guys and they will do it.

I think it looks kick ass, but so does old Red to me.

Is it $6800 kick ass? For those that really LOVE SM like me, it might be.

I think Stern did a great job with this, but "is the price right".

Remember when people where paying 8k for black shortly after its release.

Not for me, far too expensive. I will stick with the original game.

#715 3 years ago

Now you all know what Lyman was up to

#716 3 years ago

The question is do older spidermans get to update to the new dots????

#717 3 years ago

Looks awesome but is street price really $6800?

#718 3 years ago

Have to say I like the cabinet of the original better.

But for the rest of the art the VE wins.

Nope.

#720 3 years ago

Sandman, Doc, and goblin all look to be stationary now... Way to nerf the game and charge more!

#721 3 years ago

They can't have the same code..... There are no moving toys on this cheapo version.

#722 3 years ago

It's not running on Spike. I wrote that article and did the interview if y'all have any other Qs.

Quoted from DevilsTuner:

I'm not even sure what a black Spidey goes for these days but I'd rather have this one.

I was considering selling my HUO great condition Red for $4500 to trade up.

Needing to hear more details re dots, sounds, lighting.

What's the "toy story"

Why are they stationary?

#725 3 years ago

Looks brighter and more "comicy". I expected more redesign in the playfield art but it is just a restyle. I prefer the slightly darker theme and colors of the original, but I applaud Stern for redoing the art and dots with the VE rather than a simple re-run like they did with IM. Good stuff.

Any idea if it has colour changing Led's?

#727 3 years ago
Quoted from DCFAN:

Why do you say that? Everyone else is calling it SMVE.

Cause it is Spider Man Vault Edition Premium.

#728 3 years ago
Quoted from cooked71:

None. It does have 100% LEDs, but they are bulbs, not boards. Wiring and boards are basically the same as the orig.

Doc oc moves.. how else can the ball be grabbed by the magnet.
There is also a blue rubber pad attached to doc oc and you can see he's attached to an assy.

Can't tell for sandman by the pictures, though it seems he's on an assy too

#730 3 years ago

How did Sandman move in the old one?

Hmm, I didn't hear that they made any changes to the toys, movement-wise.

You're partially wrong. Goblin is clearly attached to the plastic and lost his spring mech. Doc Ock and Sandman look like they're on moving mechs, though. If Ock didn't move, the magnet wouldn't be able to grab the ball. Sandman also has to block the ball so you can attack him when the 3-bank drops.

Haha! Classic Iceman!

48 hours ago "never selling my original" ... Slowly morphed into "need new one now!!"

It would be funny to line up all the posts and chart the complete 180 degree shift in mindset.

Sandman looks stationary to me. He is what the origianal looks like. No rubber pad . not sure if it will

Quoted from Frax:

He moves up and down to let the ball go into the saucer behind him.

#737 3 years ago

Looks great, I'm fearing badly done Stern voice work for the characters, if its the same league as Xmen then what a shame that will be, the terrible pinball puns alone could ruin the game, but its possible they will be great. What about background music? If this comes together as it should then I'm in.

Nah, look at again at the high rez pics from IGN. Sandmand's black platform is attached to the up/down mech. Looks like he'll lower to be flush w/ the playfield - and the ball will actually hit the toy.

#739 3 years ago

Surely in the minority here. I was waiting on picking up a SM from up the road pending this release. This made my decision easy. 3K less for a version I think looks better? Yup. Oh well my money, my worthless opinion. Still an awesome, awesome game regardless. Wonder if there will be a way to replace original Doc Ocks with the improved version

Ah yes you are right on Ock. But sandman still looks attached to plastic to me.

I must say venom looks sweet as hell!

Nope, look. You can see the up/down piece mounted behind it. There's a perfect space between the plastics for him to move up and down.

So the 2007 SM just went up in value?

#745 3 years ago

Not enough different to justify the premium price.

#746 3 years ago
Quoted from MotorCityMatt:

I don't think so but it won't be sub 4k for a HUO either

#747 3 years ago

Sandman will indeed move, but I don't think you'll be able to hit him. In the pictures he's in the lowest position.

Which ones better SM or SMVE?

#750 3 years ago
