I've owned a BSM since it was brand new, and since it was brand new (but not noticed until the warranty expired) it's had a problem: after it's been off for a while, it will lose all settings and will basically turn on to "factory new". The symptoms are these:
1) It will not keep time. If I set the clock on Friday and turn it off for the weekend, come Monday the clock will have advanced maybe a day instead of 2/3.
2) After some time it will lose all settings / high scores. It'll keep them for maybe a week or so. Which is why I never noticed the problem when it was new and I was playing it constantly. But after some time has passed, everything is wiped out.
My guess was originally a battery problem, but I've replaced it several times and ensured that the battery is making good contact. I'm still kinda guessing a battery problem, but at a board level. More than 5 years ago I took a stab at identifying the problem, and a tech at Stern says he suspected "the RAM IC at location U11 is the problem", but I never took it any further.
Anyone ever worked on this problem with SAM? Anyone out there I could send it to for repair?
