Straight out of the box my SMVE needed the trough switches adjusted. The arms were all bent upwards so far that they would make the ball(s) roll back up the trough and the switches wouldn't register.

Caused all kinds of issues with mulitiball and the game launching balls when it shouldnt etc.

Quick fix to adjust the switch arms and all was well.

But i did notice that the tiny black 3/16 hex head screws that hold the switches in place wouldn't really tighten down well. Its like the back side of the ball trough that they scew into was stipped out. I tightened them down as much as possible and then never thought about it again.

Today I found two of the screws and the little metal spacer for the plate on the front side of the switches had fallen down into the cabinet. many of the other screws were loose. Thing is that I can't get them to tighten down.

Any ideas on how to fix? Should I contact my distro to get a new trough? or is there a simple thing I can do to the trough frame to make the screws tighten down?

I've never had any issues with my other two stern games. I checked and the screws are tight as day 1.

suggestions?

Ok so some pics might help... although yoi cant really see that anything is wrong in the pics..

These tiny black screws go through the trough switches and screw into the back piece of the trough. They keep backing out and wont tighten down.

Seems like one of 2 things. Screws themselves are stripped (ill examine tonight) or the main body of the trough os stripped.

New trough on PBL is expensive so id avoid that if its possible to fix without hacking it all up.

I wanna do it right.

Suggestions?

I pulled out a trough screw. Seems the screw itself might be stripped at some places. So maybe not the trough. Maybe someone with a screw gun went to town...

My SMVE manual doesnt list the hardware number for the trough screw hardware.

Anyone have a part number.

Ill take one to lowes/hd, but its so small i doubt they will carry it....

Thanks for the feedback so far!

Supplies have arrived.

I picked up some stock stern black replacemet screws, some lock nuts that fit on them, and some longer bally/willliams screws incase the stern ones arent long enough to get the nut on the other side.

Ill post my results in a day or so.

Popped out the loose screws. These things have such tiny threads. The stripped ones look pretty much like the good ones.

But i put some new screws in and they seemed to snug up pretty good.

If they back out again ill go with blue locktite.
If theu still dont stay in ill go to the longer screws and put the lock nuts on.

Thanks everyone
