I just spoke with Chris for cointaker --- I may not be getting my metallica le --- stern cut his order in half, isnt that nice since i ordered my game one week before they even posted for sale. I think this is pretty shitty for stern especially since i have bought every new stern starting with Ironman. If we can get people together to call call stern and confirm rumor that they are shipping more games over seas. Stern domestic sales, Jim Belt 800-542-5377

Here we go

This whole thing seems like a huge clusterf@#$ by stern.

I heard cointaker was giving out stupid price quotes, and that Stern was spanking their wee wee over that.

Well, you can't help but feel bad for the guy...you'd think if you ordered one before they were announced you'd be good to go. Did they have that many pre-pre-pre-orders in already?

#6 11 years ago

It wasn't Stern. Distributors just assumed that they where getting what they ordered and sold them as such without confirmation from the manufacturer.

There simply where not enough LE's to go around.

#7 11 years ago

And didn't cointaker hold back a BIBLE and LTBR until recently?

Man I hope that was Chris giving out the price quotes then.

#10 11 years ago

Time for the obligatory *grabs popcorn* post.

And there it is!

Now that's a Pinball I'd like to see Stern make.

#14 11 years ago

All rumors from talking to a bunch of collectors btw. I was told that a few dealers got cut on their allocation for offering lower pricing.

Thats a bunch of crap they did it to other dealers! What does it matter to Stern what the price is if they are getting what they are selling them for? Thats just stupid talk!

#16 11 years ago

This Metallica stuff needs perspective. You can get the premium game. Its basically the same minus the LE plaque. This is definitely a 'first world problem'

Did they at least buy their customers dinner first?

All joking aside, Distributors that cozy up to collectors as true friends while not being honest about games held back will ruin some good relationships. For the record, holding back a few titles to make a few bucks is not the end of the world, but lying about it to your best customers will not stand. If they don't shape things up, then all such distributors will begin to be treated like strangers. If they want loyal customers, then they will have to treat those customers with loyalty.

I digress, Stern has a responsibility here and needs to reel in the rouge distributors.

Hey, on the upside, if distributors continue to disappoint, Hemi and Zdoor will see their business boom!

Ive read a bunch of these MOPLE threads and from what I can see things seem to be going very smoothly all around. I think everyone is going to come out of this looking good.

Every time I see this thread, I will think of this post and laugh out loud.

#26 11 years ago

May be one of the most epic funny quotes of all time on Pinside.

Dammit, that is funny right there. Right. There.

#28 11 years ago

What will be funny is when Cointaker sells a NIB MOPLE a year from now!

That might very well be the funniest thing I have ever read on this forum.

#31 11 years ago

Don't drop the soap in the Stern Locker Rooms.

#32 11 years ago

In all seriousness, when I heard some of the numbers that the distributors were claiming they sold, the math just didn't add up. I wasn't surprised at all when people's orders started getting cancelled.

Hence why people will now remove their collection and the folks that go along with this passive aggressive bullying are just as bad.

Lighten up, Francis. It was a joke, and a damn funny one at that.

#36 11 years ago

Well I am out as well. I had a trade deal getting mine. Normally and forever more I am in with JJ and have always been good. Lesson learned again. No matter what stick with game exchange.

Why would it matter if he has 45 pins already or if this was going to be his first?

I've been to the OP's house and he has an amazing collection, and is a super nice guy.

#40 11 years ago

It was a joke. And a damned fine one.

#41 11 years ago

And funnier than shit!

I feel bad for the OP. Happened to me as well.

#43 11 years ago

Don't worry, they're already getting posted on Craigslist for $9000. So if you really want one, you can get it.

#44 11 years ago

just seems like stern consistently disappoints customers and distributors alike. Sad state of business.

Crap dude, you have posted some funny stuff over the past few months but this had me laugh so hard I woke up my wife!!!

#48 11 years ago

The Stern distributor I use is great. Lets me know when new pins come out. Holds one for me if I pre order one and still has a Metallica LE for sale if I want it. Just not so sure that I want it.

For the sake of your PM inbox that was about to get flooded (first by me before I saw your flag) I point out to everyone this poster is in Australia . . . his distro can't get the game to you . . . unless you are also Australian.

Thanks for that. And whilst I am Australian, I am in New Zealand and no, they will not be able to get one back to the US.

Just wanted to say there are some great distributors out there.
