Unplug and plug back in the connectors for each of the two trough opto boards. If that doesn’t resolve the issue then either reflow the solder on the boards or just replace them (fairly inexpensive). I’ve had to replace those boards on several of the Sterns I’ve owned over the years. This is a very common problem and almost certainly the cause of your issue.
