What's Stern's default shipping speed for RMA process under warranty. They are taking their sweet 'ol time letting me know whether they'll ship out two node boards today or tomorrow, and whether they will overnight them so they can make it here this week. I offered to pay for overnight from the get-go, but never really got an answer. Finally got to where my distributor issued them an RMA number, but silence on how long it'll take. This was a NIB game delivered yesterday with 7 plays before node board 9 died, and have a July 4th party this weekend which I'd like the pin working for. I have another vendor standing by that can overnight me the parts to get here this week... just gotta pay $550, and I will, but I won't if I can figure out if Stern SOP is overnight or if they at least provide the option or not.

Eh screw it, just got a call that the UPS truck was at the vendor I sourced as backup, so I had to say go if I wanted these ordered and guaranteed delivered this week, so I pulled that trigger.

Think Stern will accept my invoice

Why did your distributor not send you one from their own stock?

Stern is the manufacturer, the reason they have distributors is to take care of the end customer. Any good distributor should have stepped in and provided you with a node board and got the replacement from Stern themselves.

I've had warranty parts sent from stern a lot over the last year. Seems like they do most of their shipping out on Fridays for warranty items. At least that has been my experience. The service has been great considering I generally go directly to them instead of thru the distributor. If something was bad right out of the box though I'd expect my distributor to be at the house fixing it. All of my experience is after the 'warranty' period where the distributor.is involved.

Dunno, troubleshot with Stern, confirmed issues and parts, they asked the distributor to provide a PO# and then Stern gave me RMA# this morning and we’re going to ship parts out today. This was first time going through the process, so just figured that was how the process went. I did ask distributor yesterday, when Stern wasn’t getting back to me, if they had parts to send or that I could buy, but never really heard back from that. Ended up just ordering/overnighting parts from a separate vendor which got here today and the pin is now fully working and being enjoyed; I’ll just keep the Stern parts on-hand as backups when they arrive, but they did say they were going to overnight them; wish they had told me that yesterday or I wouldn’t have bought $550 in parts, but oh well, it works.
