I was just thinking that since the Stern factory is rerunning machines and assembling MMr. That this could be a great thing for anyone that has bought a recent Stern title. I would hope that this now frees up programmers to work on code for existing machines rather than having to focus on upcoming new titles.

I really hope this would be the case. And Stern could turn over a new leaf. And get all the unfinished code and bugs finished in the following months.

It's great for the next generation buyers, our younger set. They can afford some great titles now.

Frees up stern programmers to work out finished code! Always a bonus.

Will keep Sterns employees busy for a long time to come.

However, bad news, resale value may take a hit.

I really don't see a problem with this. To me these are great times to be a pinball collector and player.

Yes yes and yes. Now enough of these threads. Let's move on.

I just hope as the line fills and production cost lessens that some of the savings would be passed along to the consumer.

I will not hold my breath on this.

Market hit will happen with all of these titles. That part sucks. But availability of machines and parts will be a huge plus. Also if you do not already own one of these titles it is a great way to get a nice one. IMO.

Is Stern remaking some of their pins? Which ones?

I was kidding. Every third thread seems to be about the vault editions.

    Nobody should down-vote Mila Kunis

I was too...there are 2 or 3 people on here with their panties in a bunch over a Tron Premium vault edition.

For me personally I could care less about the resale value. I bought my NIB games to play them. Not as an investment. Anyone that thinks pinball machines are a good investment should have their head examined.
They are a hobby and a novelty. Would you by a $5000 car as an investment?

Meant to be played and enjoyed. Not hoarded in hopes that one day they will increase in value.

Everything depreciates in value. A very very few select things become worth more later. If you buy something and hold onto it because you like it, and its value goes up thats a bonus. But if are buying because you think you can sell it later at a profit you might as well just hit a casino or spend the money on lottery tickets.

This is a hobby not the stock market.

The problem is, with this announcement there was never any sort of a promise that engineering resources would be put toward finishing code on the older titles. The notion that Gary Stern would keep expensive talent on the payroll to update CSI code doesn't seem to mesh with what I have seen of the guy (not to knock him, I like him but he does have a factory to run). I sincerely hope I am way off base and these games are just filler for while they work on more original games.

To your second point this will certainly keep the assembly line busy which is a great thing because it keeps the factory open.

Yes more pins and opportunities to buy old pins we love NIB. Not so much for traditionalists that want their pins to always remain special/expensive and those that that restore pins. Not commenting on the awesome work that some restorers do just observing that there will likely be less demand for their services due to re-runs/re-makes.

I think it's a great thing. With MM they can improve on some things like sound quality and actually make a better game the second time around. Also, with IM they are giving you LEDs and some other improvements.

These reruns are new, cheap and better than the originals! MM and IM sold out very quickly, I'm sure they'll be more to come.

Its great. Pinball makers are selling lots of games that people want to buy. It's ALL win.
