Nice! Can't wait for my premium!

#3 8 years ago

Cool! - Are there any Premiums/LEs available to try/test in the Chicago suburbs?

Quoted from Jared:

Hand it to Dwight for bringing back Q's Mission from STTNG. I had hoped for this type of mode in ST. Great stuff.

Can't wait to see footage of the revised video mode.

#6 8 years ago

Impossible, shipped with complete code!

#7 8 years ago
Quoted from Jared:

includes a new dual video mode.

I'm guessing that's duel video mode? And not some kind of "double" video mode? Or do you mean the old duel video mode is there, and now there's a second video mode?

(Not mocking the typo, genuinely can't tell.)

Edit:

Quoted from Jared:

- Video mode has new art and some new game play

n/m seems was a typo.

#9 8 years ago

i wonder if the pros made and shipped this week will have version 1.17?

#10 8 years ago

Just got mine today still had 1.15

#11 8 years ago

- Changed the number of Winter is Coming needed from 7 to 4.

This is a welcomed change imo. Very interested to see if Winter Has Come is a viable mode to aim for now.

Completing all 7 Winter is Coming was brutally tough and scored basically nothing compared to mode play.

#12 8 years ago

Anyone have the link to the Zach Sharpe Jack Danger Stream they did earlier this week.

#13 8 years ago

Week after thanksgiving my LE should be shipped. Can't wait.

#14 8 years ago

Any video of new video mode?

#15 8 years ago

Video mode is much better

#16 8 years ago

Video mode is better but it's still a video mode, ugly, boring, waste coding time

#17 8 years ago

It would take a lot of work to make a video mode worse than the original.

Steve Ritchie and Dwight Sullivan obviously think otherwise.

Thankfully I was not drinking my coffee when I read that.

#20 8 years ago

Both games at Free Play Florida have the new code. Will have to get some more games in tomorrow. So far I like both the Pro and the LE.

Those guys also thought using flashers instead of spotlights was a good idea

a very short clip on stern's facebook page.
I like the new video mode

#23 8 years ago
Quoted from T7:

headquarters said they are getting one.

emporium I think has a pro.

#24 8 years ago

The new video is much better. My 20 yo son really liked the old video mode somehow. Interested to see how he likes the new one. I've played the new mode twice and beat it both times, so it is easier and faster, too.

#25 8 years ago

The new video mode is improved, but wouldn't it be nicer with a static background? You could even have a background for each level, if there are more than one level in the video mode.

I agree, though it should be a background with little 'things' in it.
Another thing: the ball isn't ever in play during videomode: please disable the flippers. Should be a 5 minute-fix maximum I think.

And they did. They're Pinball designers. And experienced ones.

Except they were wrong. GoT (stock) has the worst seizure inducing light show I've ever seen on any pinball. It's one thing for a game to be poorly lit. It's quite another for its lighting to interfere with the game play. These guys are old timers and not privy to modern technology. A dmd based video game in an era of UHD video and a seizure inducing implementation of LEDs is proof.

#29 8 years ago

Had a great game this morning almost best GC score. I agree the flashers are over the top. I think their is a setting to dim them a bit. I'm glad I was able to dim the back box lights too. I'm really impressed with this pro version.

And how's the lighting now?

I believe they self admittedly reported programming the initial lighting in a brighter than normal room? In any case, did they get this resolved? That's really what's most important.

#31 8 years ago

Nothing to resolve for me. The stock lighting is amazing.

Absolutely not resolved with the design of what they have. The only resolution would be to take the two spotlight flashers in the lower area and turn them into always on lights that never flash even with the GI. (This is in fact how I modified my machine). And while that helped a ton, the strobing during the jackpots on blackwater multiball is still rough. The game was designed to be played in a well-lit room. In that case, it's not really that big of an issue. Completely unplayable in the dark. Anyone trying to argue that the flashing lights is part of the challenge and fun is just kidding themselves. No one wants that crap. If you like that type of challenge maybe play with your eyes closed.

Obviously not.

#34 8 years ago
Quoted from Jared:

Added adjustment to reduce intensity of some lamp effects

Can anyone confirm is there a new adjustment, or does this mean they just hooked up the flasher brightness setting?

#35 8 years ago

There is an adjustment in the menu to lower flashers. I use it and it is better though still a little crazy in a dark room. But, not unplayable by any means.

#36 8 years ago
Quoted from BigBangBack:

when can we expect premiums to start shipping? I want to get some play on it.

#37 8 years ago

So I see two settings for lights. One is an option to lower flasher power. Not sure about that. Then under GOT game adjustments is this one. I just played with it and it cuts back the crazy effect perfectly. We still get the effect just not the intensity.

#38 8 years ago

that is GREAT news!

that was my one feature I did not like when playing it at expo (I actually could barely play when all the flashers were going off).

Would love to see some video comparison if possible Coaster.

Quoted from RogerKlotz27:

Sorry for the late response.
The stream was meant to be live only, and not archived.
My apologies for any confusion. I'm working with Zach to setup another in our studio that we CAN keep online.

#40 8 years ago

Is there an extra intense setting?

1 month later

Quoted from John1210:

Is there an extra intense setting?

Yea and instead of blackwater jackpot sounds, bag comes out to catch the barf for when your seizure causes you to throw up. It's great fun.
