Stern remade IM and SM when nobody thought they would and I lost track of the number of times people said it would never happen. So I wouldn't put it past Stern to remake AC/DC or even just release more of the original premiums or Luci's.

#102 8 years ago
Quoted from freddy:

still would like to know LUCI production #'s seems to be a big secret!

I don't know the exact number, but it is less than 220.

#103 8 years ago
Quoted from Rob_G:

That's news from 2 years ago though. Has anyone talked to him recently about it? I don't think anyone can really deny the game could use another udpate:
- Enable live mode
- Balance Hells Bells and other songs
- Do something more with the cannon inserts
- Make the mini playfield more lucrative to play. It's kind of a dud right now.
- Other various scoring tweaks
Rob

I know, but with their crazy release cadence, how long it's taken them to get a lot of titles ship shape, and how at least a couple of titles are in fairly dire or rudimentary states a year after release, I can see how it's been put on the backburner.

Were they to do another production run, I'd be very disappointed if they didn't give Lyman a few weeks' worth of time to make the 'final' tweaks. Surely that would be justifiable.

As an owner, that's why I'd be excited about another run.

I'm not saying it will never happen, but it won't be in the next few years.

I thought it was already determined that sterns next music pin is gong to be Hendrix?

#106 8 years ago
Quoted from Iceman5000:

I can't say more than this: You hear their music played during most professional sporting events in stadiums as crowd pumping music, along with music from AC/DC and Metallica.

Gary Glitter?

#107 8 years ago
Quoted from Deez:

I don't believe it. There are tons of acdc out there. I see them more than most other games. Hard to believe there is much market left for it.

I do not believe either. A reliable source posted on pinside awhile ago too...said the band and band's agent want too much $$$$ to renew the license. I think it was over a half million and then a unit cost of course as well. There is no way Stern can risk failure here (end up in the red if the run it). My bet is no way will they do it.

Quoted from Iceman5000:

It is less than 200 if you use my style of deductive reasoning. The reason it is a secret is Stern does not want to upset the BIB or the LTBR LE owners. Stern never expected Luck #'s to be lower than the LE's. It just kind of happened. My personal guess is only 175 Luci's were made.

Hendrix.........Dirty Donny

If that is true and Zombie Yeti is doing GB then Stern is really stepping it up.

I don't think he would be the right choice for a Hendrix pin at all. It will never happen anyways as the Hendrix estate keeps such a tight grip over anything having to do with him.

#112 8 years ago

I hope it's this

He's already done Hendirx art.

So IF ACDC Pre is re-released no doubt it will be at the $7495 price point. This thread will turn into 39 pages of "How could Stern price this more expensive than the original ACDC Pre?"

Quoted from BoJo:

I am just a pinhead who loves to speculate. I am actually hoping for a Motley Crüe pin to be made, but such as life, "you can't always get what you want"........or maybe you can?????? Ha!

#116 8 years ago

Maybe the cannon modes will be coded with this release lol

#117 8 years ago
Quoted from Iceman5000:

I can assure you this is not happening. The AC/DC ship has long ago sailed. But STERN did just sign a new licensing agreement with another popular band of the last 40 years. (not Aerosmith).

Maybe make that 35 years

#119 8 years ago
Quoted from Wariodolby:

image_(resized).jpeg

callout would have to include "SHARON"

#120 8 years ago

Good redo artwork and move the cannon from blocking the outlane to flipper please.

#121 8 years ago

ACDC and GB coming soon? My wife is going to kill me... thanks Stern.

#122 8 years ago
Quoted from HFK:

Gary Glitter?

Nope, same problem with The Who-----> pedophilia.

Stern is not going to get behind that.

You maybe waiting a long long long time for AC?DC.

That sure sounds like Queen, with "We Will Rock You".

What recent crappy band would you prefer to see over some of the all time great rock bands??? Everything new is hip hop crap.

Much love to old white dudes, one of my life goals is to become one, but surely there's more to find as a theme than more aging geezers?

I mean, it's fine if you still listen to Mötley Crüe or whatever, I have zero judgement on what music people like. But is that really something that's exciting in 2016?

Pinball used to be sexy, and about things that felt a little risqué and appealed to horny 18 year olds. Now it's about appealing to people who only get horny when they pop a couple blue diamonds.

How about some new f—king ideas guys? Surprise us instead of trying to bring back an era that should remain dead and buried and stinking.

People who looked like this just don't feel at all relevant to me anymore. It was funny at the time, but come on, really?

I am not sure what you are complaining about since you have MET and ACDC. I guess those were the ones you wanted most?
Some of us like different bands that have not been done yet. Led Zeppelin is the one I really want.

Dude, we go over this every time people complain about a "geezer" theme...you know, like a 35-year old movie like Alien.

Horny kids aren't being horny around pinball machines anymore. They are being horny at home on the internet. Horny 18 year olds aren't walking around all horny at arcades - which don't exist - or at bars, where they aren't old enough to be horny.

Pinball machines are played and owned by people in their 30's-50s, and these are the people Stern - and other manufacturers, like Heighway - will continue to appeal to.

Good luck with that Rhianna pinball machine, I'm sure it would be a huge hit with all the horny teenagers who don't care about pinball. Pinball is having a big comeback because older people are spending money on it, not because kids have any interest in it. You know this is true.

But don't fear, 18 year olds get old too. In 20 years you can put your order in for that The Weekend pin. Stern's job - and Heighway's job - is to keep pinball alive till then. That's why you are getting ancient movies and rock band pins.

Original theme? SUre, I'm down with that, but we know it's not gonna happen. Stern just plays it too safe and it's working for them.

I don't even like ACDC to be honest. They don't grate on me or anything, but I would never play them on my stereo. And I find the game unlovely to look at. But it's damn fun with great rules, so it's not like I'm going to turn my nose up at it. For me it's a good game despite the theme, not because of it.

I'm just saying, I wish we could have more new things, and not just old things. If you want a Zep pin that's cool, I wouldn't begrudge you that. I'm working on Alien, that's something from 1978, not trying to say ALL OLD THINGS SUCK.

But don't you guys want something cool that's surprising, and not just a trip down memory lane too? I miss the 90s when we could have licenses that were new and relevant, but also original games too. They did modern movies (Demo Man, Shadow, Dracula, Congo, Addams, etc) but also Attack from Mars and MM and cool semi-licensed/semi-original games like Scared Stiff.

So sure, do Mötley Crüe or Aerosmith or Queen or Led Zep or whatever. I'm not trying to be a hater on things people like. And obviously people are Alien fans, and the franchise is still alive and relevant, so cool.

But it would be super cool to me at least if we could maybe get some original stuff in there too. Do a couple licensed pins, then an original theme.

Agreed, I'm not dumb, and I don't think pinball is coming back for kids. I do get it. And see above, I know I'm doing Alien, and I'm not trying to act like a hypocrite. Ghostbusters will be a cool theme, not a hater.

But I think that there's more to it than just defaulting to a Rhianna pin. That would probably flop, no doubt. And I'm sure I'm in a minority on Pinside that actually listens to modern rap music, so that's fine, I won't wish for that.

But people love cranking up the Tron and Iron man heavy bass music with subs. What about a new sci fi theme or something with some new thumping sub tunes? Nothing that's gonna offend gramma and grandpa, but remember how people got excited when the Wipeout series came out on PlayStation? Not a "insert techno band" pin. Something with a cool theme with an upbeat, bass-heavy soundtrack would probably get people excited.

No Viagra needed here.

Pure rock and roll hard-on.

I'd love to see it, but pinball is all about playing it safe these days, except for the boutiques. I'm under the impression Stern did well with their "boutique" game, Melons, so you'd think they'd be willing to give it a shot.

I'm basing my comment only on music pins. With the success they have had recently you can bet more are coming. My point was to the people who constantly complain about the bands being too old or irrelevant and asked them who would they like to see from the newer music era. And if your comment is I don't want anymore music pins then no need to answer. Like it or not more are coming.

Fair enough. I don't dislike the idea of band pins, but the reality is anything I'd like to see people wouldn't be into, I listen to mostly rap and death metal.

But aren't there modern rock bands that people like? Speaking of death metal (sort of) what about The Eagles of Death Metal (not a death metal band if you don't know them)? I like this song:

They got all that press for being in Paris during the terrorist attacks, everyone has heard of them now. I dunno, what do people listen to that's not old? Forget pop music, there's still a world of other bands and sounds out there. You only need to sell a few thousand to be successful.

#143 8 years ago

I listen to a lot of 'first wave' and 'lithium' (Sirius radio).

#144 8 years ago

Man I hope the rumor is true, especially if they made more of the Luci version. I'd buy one if they did.

#145 8 years ago

Why can't we have a pin with a smoking hot chick scantily clad on the backglass? That's what I want in my gameroom. I feel like every stern has pictures of dudes on it. I don't want to look at that.

#146 8 years ago

I doubt they will make more AC/DC's but I would be happy if they did. I'd buy a NIB Luci even though I already have a premium. The more made of a great game the better.

Get a WNBJM. I was just like everyone else and made fun of it at shows, called it stupid, boring, hillbilly, you name it. I was wrong, it's fun as hell and has some giant melons for your viewing pleasure. Shows just how good some of sterns artists are when they have complete freedom.

WE WANT AL!

WE WANT AL!

I really hope it's true. I would buy a Luci for sure.

I'm "Groove" or "Backspin" man myself, when I'm not listening to Stern

Friends I sure hope many people don't get crushed fantasies of getting a nib Luci here. There is a reason Stern did not renew the acdc license in the months\weeks\days leading up to the expiration of the existing license. The $$$ the band and their rep's want is insane! If it was even halfway reasonable Stern's guru department would have inked a deal. Heck, they could not even secure an "option" for a future deal. Nothing....no extension, no option, no renewel. Nada! There is a reason why that happened. The parties are so far apart on the discussions that talks broke down and ultimately the existing license expired. It is very possible that to pay the "new" premium acdc contract prices that Stern may need to sell more machines second time around than the first time. How are they going to do that? Correct they probably cannot and it is too risky of a business gamble. They will succeed at pinball and make tons of $$$ by making other machines and telling acdc to go pack sand where the sun does not shine lol!
