Hey guys, I noticed one of my SM's pops stopped working and went under the hood to investigate. Seems the coil is activating fine, but the pop is not returning to its original position after. Moving with my hand there seems to be friction resistance when I try to move it back up.

Iv never done anything with pops before so I wanted to get some basic intel or general ideas before I start taking things apart. Any ideas?

Check for a broken metal and/or fiber yoke. They are seated on the plunger. Compare the one that's not working to the other two and compare the differences. I'll bet it's what I described.

these look like they are OK. I don't think thats the problem.

Coil sleeve might be worn/cracked.

Probably time for a rebuild. Have a look at Vid's guide.

Great idea! Then he can learn how to repair fire damage too!!

Centerflank is always thinking of others.

Yeah, I know better than to use oil on that. I think Im gonna have to rebuild it. Which makes me sad

My opinion. The coil may have overheated and warped the sleeve. Be prepared to replace the coil too just in case.
