Interesting hire but if the DLC is a future revenue stream then it is a good fit. The problem is cost of NIB pins are at an all time high. I think MANY people are deciding there are better/other things to do with their money at these prices. I don’t think people will mind paying for a subscription service if it’s cheap and adds enough value. We don’t really know what “Value” they plan to provide. The problem is I don’t see any way there are enough units sold to get a ROI. A video game that sells millions to a couple hundred thousand units and a large number pay for DLC there is a ton of money to be made so it makes sense.
And the argument that people pay a bunch of money for mods is not a good one. I don’t NEED any mods to actually play the game. If I am forced to pay for an additional service that is needed to make my 10K toy work you can forget it. And what happens years from now when DLC is old/out dated and no longer supported….do these become paperweights? Not enough info to know right now. Time will tell and hopefully Stern does not get run into the ground.
