    Quoted from Deez:

Stern goes the way of the Peloton. Buy the hardware and pay for the right to use it. Bricked if you don't pay the subscription. I bet they lower the prices of the base machine and then charge you per month going forward. That's my prediction.

benheck - kill it with fire. sounds like a right to repair nightmare.

And back to US SNES prices. I used to work under the table for a produce company. I busted myself to buy games and remember most costing somewhere between $39.99 and $69.99 - I'd make enough for a premium title in two weeks.

    Quoted from Yelobird:

You don’t need a subscription to use Peloton you just don’t get access to live classes.

Speaking of something similar. Nordictrack recently took away "privileged mode" from their devices - a mode that allowed normal operation of their screens like an Android tablet (install any APK you want).

They caught wind peleton (and more importantly, Zwift) was running natively then they shut that schiff down.

So it is a cyclegument or a treadmillgument - not really comparable or valid as you point out. Pinball already has a locked ecosystem. My fear is that right to repair or control your own device will go the way of John Deer and Tesla.
