Quoted from snakesnsparklers:

Sure, if you only extend the length and keep the same width and height (aka a super long super skinny twinkie). If you have a twinkie of similar proportions at that length it will be much heavier.

Yes, exactly. Skinny Twinkie, indeed.

Quoted from TheLaw:

It has not been ignored since release. Unless you're still playing the swashbuckler videa mode?

Oh, right, after saying they were working on a fix for the broken Martell orbits due to their shoddy diverter design/testing, they pushed out a marginal software update so they could include this gem and wash their hands of the issue:

" - Added Adjustment to disable orbiting from left to right. This will be ON by
default on the LE/PREMIUM. All left orbit balls will go to the pop
bumpers by design."

"Broken by design" - how could I have forgotten THAT whopper!

But yeah, the it's been ignored since about 4 months after the Prem/LEs shipped, going on 2.5 years now, and it has some pretty large bugs that need fixing. Zero mention in any of the SotU.

Game of Thrones has some of the best code out there. It for sure has NOT been "ignored since the release". The left orbit for many owners (including myself) was a non-issue. You can also enable the complete left orbit in the settings if you also made a couple physical adjustments. There have been quite a few updates since the initial release. Sure there are some bugs, but all games have bugs, and I bet they will get to them at some point. The fact that known testers are asking questions points to that. Getting all dramatic about GOT seems like a reach to hear yourself complain.

Pfft, if you were paying attention you'd know that's no reach at all.

And 2.5 years with no significant updates and at least one major game bug and lots of middling bugs remaining is the definition of ignored.

I think he meant paying attention to how little it takes to make him complain

Yeah Game of Thrones got tons of love for the first year plus it was out. It’s all there. Just needs a final polish. And it’s definitely being worked on. Just a matter of when, no if imo.

Clearly you’re not happy with the state of your GOT a code, but I’m not following what that has to do with the SOTUA. Your beef is with Stern’s coding department, not the PR team.

Lets warm it up again...

Expectations for 2019...

"Ghostbusters has been cut from our schedule"

#1211 5 years ago

Munsters revealed. GB code update expected in Spring.

#1212 5 years ago

Star Wars topper currently in transit from a galaxy far, far away.

#1213 5 years ago

Is stern still doing state of the union ? Where is it on new Web site?

I found it so easily just navigating thru the website. https://sternpinball.com/news/

#1215 5 years ago

There wasn't an update last Tuesday due to the holiday but I'll guess there will be one today considering Stern is also set to show a new game today at CES.

Deadpool – Hope all you Deadpool owners have been enjoying the new v0.97.0 code that was released a few weeks ago. We are working on another code update that is scheduled to be released later this month.

Ghostbusters code update is delayed, but remains in our schedule.

Just because a game isn’t listed here doesn’t mean there can’t be surprises from time to time. We hope you enjoyed the gigantic Metallica code update last month!

Accessories:

The physical model for the Star Wars topper has been approved. We’ll make a formal announcement once it’s available for sale and add it to our Stern Shop.

#1217 5 years ago

Ghostbusters code update is delayed, but remains in our schedule. (Trudeau won't return our calls for some reason...)

#1218 5 years ago

Munsters looks cool but won't even consider it until Ghostbusters code is done. What's to say that Munsters code will even be completed if Ghostbusters after this long still doesn't have completed code?

With Borg you never know. Unless it's Lyman then you know after a few years it will be "done."

#1220 5 years ago

GB code delayed.........who would have thought?

#1221 5 years ago

I haven’t commented on this but I’ve been holding on to an le for a year an half because of what could be. So disappointed. I don’t see any end in sight. Ok I’m done. Still love it but come on

#1222 5 years ago

Meanwhile, DP gets another code update a little over a month since the last one. Guess it should have been a Gomez game and it would be done by now. Thank God IMDN got love.

Interesting that Batman in no longer mentioned in the Union Adress.

SW feels like a complete game at this point, probably one of the deepest Stern games out there. A final polish update would be nice but overall it's in a much better state then Ghostbusters.

After 2 years of updates BM66 is done. It was a painful 2 years.

Deadpool needs updates.

I'm hearing Munsters is complete at launch. We shall see.

After .97 Deadpool is actually in better shape than Ghostbusters.

Different coders on those games, so a moot point.

Let's hope that now the munsters is out, Dwight gets some time to finish his older titles (mainly GB and GOT). A Kiss/AS size update would be nice

I understand that they are different coders on those games, but they are made by the same company. And since said company has said a GB update was coming for over a year and still nothing, someone is making decisions about what code gets time or not.

George flat out said that GB is selling well enough without the code update. Reading between the lines, that tells me they are only focusing on code that will improve a slow selling machines sales performance.

Dwight has simply been busy on Munsters.

One wonders how well it really did sell. Stern stopped making it last year and it went into the archive section. I think they made it for 2 1/2 years, short of the usual 3 years. Compare that with Metallica, which Stern renewed the license on after 3 years to extend it to 5 years total.

I was actually referring to the topper Wich is the same never ending story as GB code.

Ghostbusters: Complete playfield, incomplete code
Star Wars: Complete code, incomplete playfield

Now Munsters has 2 good-looking playfields, but code... Who knows?

I think Star Wars premium / LE is a loaded game that offers a ton of speed. The pro version is bare, I would agree there but the premium and LE are a different story. The hyperspace toy is a large interactive toy, as is the Death Star toy, the other extra features on the game (fork ramp, outlane diverter, Falcon, etc) also compliment it very well.

Yes, the pro is rather bare but on the other versions that hyperdrive is one of the best toys in pinball. If you can get more than one ball in there it's a massive adrenaline hit: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/greatest-adrenaline-rush-in-pinball

Back to the latest Stern of the Union Address ... it is very disappointing we still have no major GB code update well after a year from the first tease that it would be coming soon.

We had to wait ages for the KISS update but it was worth the wait, so guessing it will be the same with GB.

Just takes time.

Got that unexpected AC/DC update which was great but unfortunately oi mania was broken and that hasn't been fixed yet.

That said, Stern have been so much better with coding so hopefully the fix will appear this year as well.

Maybe trying to get away from the machine before the Trudeau child porn case concludes? It looks like he has a Plea coming up next week.

Posted this in a couple other threads but also relevant here.

Below are some notes I took regarding Ghostbusters code from the new Head2Head Pinball podcast interview with Dwight.

1. Highest item on Dwight's list for Ghostbusters is to do something about the game being too messy, said too many things stack. Would like to see Loopin Supers played on it's own and not stacked with other modes, should be a moment type mode to get to

2. Library insert - was never intended to be a feature or mode (used as indicator to shoot for in Librian mode) but will now get it's own little rule

3. Are you a God? - First off Dwight said yes he is (good answer lol), never meant to be part of 1.0, putting Are You a God on instruction card was a mistake, doesn't know if it will happen...

4. We Came We Saw - could be more polished, should be worth more and be more interesting

Dwight also went into how he will have more time after Munsters to work on other stuff. He said that it took Stern a long time to get to where they are at today. Mentioned how working on Spike revisions impacted code updates and how George Gomez has worked on hiring more programmers. According to Dwight Stern now has 9 in house programmers and 3 external. Programming staff used to be spread too thin but now is better. Finally he mentioned that programmers now get time after a release to work on other stuff and that he will get that time after Munsters.

Lets get this going again.

Star Wars Topper is waiting for final approval.
Ghostbuster code is still in our schedule. (Early 2020 )

To be honest, I hope to get some info on, Deadpool, Batman and Ghostbusters code schedules...

#1249 5 years ago
Quoted from PanzerFreak:

yeah it seemed in the past the coders were immediately assigned to the "next game". There really was no time to go back and work on a polish update. If this is now accounted for that will really help things.

This still means Dwight is busy on Munsters for the time being, so don't expect a GB update for months yet.

#1250 5 years ago

Munsters had had at least 2 updates since it was revealed. If Munsters is getting worked on, guess what isn't. I really hate this whole situation, but we were told GB update after SW got to 1.0. Well that came and went, and now Munsters is going to get to 1.0 too probably before there will be a break to work on GB.
