Stern Nine Ball. Nice playfield. Not the best, but very nice . Let's see what happens.

I hate it when someone solders directly to the pins like that. I suppose they needed replacing anyway.

Plastic set needs some love...

you want to trade projects?

Exactly! Your playfield is beyond "Not the best, but very nice" for this title. Your only significant wear is in the ball lock on the 3000 pt lettering, and that is a VERY high-traffic area due to the multiball launch. Most Nineballs are missing a ton of paint between the slings, and yours looks just great. It should clean up really well. Only crusty part is the Backglass IMO.

Yep, I've already ordered a CPR mirrored backglass. Hopefully it makes it all the way here without shattering!

Replaced the connectors on the rectifier board. I'm gonna add a connector between this and the isolation transformer so the rectifier board can be easily removed from the game.

Easy solution, sell it to me and I’ll finish it

Problem with that is you can get brand new one so cheap, and better made, that when replaced it should never needed to be touched again. But hey, we all like projects

That doesn't connect to an isolation transformer it connects to the transformer!

No need to put connector on it - couple of screws and connectors removed, entire transformer board + rectifier board assembly comes out of the game.

agreed, 4 crews on transformer and 3 on rectifier board and you can take the whole thing out or 6 screws for the wood piece it is sitting on

So I can finally announce that 5 months ago I disassembled my Nine Ball and sent the playfield and plastics off to Mirco Playfield Reproductions here in Germany.

Mirco painstakingly reproduced the playfield AND plastics which can now be found on their website for purchase.

I was happy to help out the pinball community and I'm glad you all will now be able to restore your machines to their former glory.

I am now as excited as you all are...can't wait to get my own playfield and get my game back together after 5 months of being in pieces!

Discussion about the reproduction playfield should take place at the main Nine Ball Club forum as I've posted there about it. I'll upload photos here of the rebuild/restore as I get it going again.

That is Fantastic News but should we still be concerned about Mircos Clear Coat / Art Pooling ?

or has this been all Fixed , I had a Quicksilver that Pooled Very Badly

Did you post pics somewhere so people know what's up?

If I'm the manufacturer of a pooling PF, I'd want to check the serial #, so I can then communicate to the public, what I know about the version and the process used at that time, etc. to restore confidence.

I'm about 1 week into the playfield repopulating. I ran the harness through the dishwasher before I began and it has really kept the playfield underside clean through the process. I found that the dimples for the screw holes are not always in the correct places. I had to re-drill holes for about 10 mechs so far. One hole on the rear support brace was completely drilled wrong and I've reported that to Mirco.

Got the big drop target bank cleaned up, replaced all targets and reassembled. Getting the mech in the right place to allow the targets to fall cleanly isn't the most trivial task. The 3-bank in the right corner took a lot of adjusting.

One more parts order to PinballCenter here in Germany and I should be in good shape. I cannot find parts for the target bumper in the top right side. Gonna have to keep looking around for that. My existing plastic base is so thin and cracked from decades of abuse and the cap is in bad shape too. Anyone know where I can buy replacement parts for this?

Yep positioning drop target banks is a pain. Took me three tries to get my #flight2000 bank in the right spot. It would be helpful if the screw holes were slotted to allow adjusting.
