I may have picked up my first Stern project. It is a Flight 2000. Without seeing it, I assume the MPU is a corroded mess as would be normal. Before I go look at this thing and decide how much of an investment I want to make, will a Bally 35 work in this game? I have a spare and thinking I could be a step ahead. I've read that a new alltek board works as it would in a bally. There's not as much info here on Pinside as I thought there would be on this subject and most of the post I found are nearly 2 years old so wondering if there is some newer info out there.

Quoted from zacaj:

a -35 will not work. Stern MPU-200 has more RAM than a bally board. a MPU-200 can be down-converted to be used as a -35, but not the other way around.
Both barakandl (https://nvram.weebly.com/new-pcbs.html) and Alltek sell new boards that can be used in any MPU-100/200 and Bally -17/-35 games

Exactly what I needed to know....Thanks!

Quoted from FatPanda:

You might be worrying about something that isn't even there? Did you look at the boards before assuming it has corrosion? Is the game not booting properly or has erratic behavior?

Not "worried" about anything, most all project pins I have bought have been issues with the mpu and battery corrosion....fact of life on the older solid states. Being my first stern, and knowing some stern boards can be replaced with bally boards, I wanted to know if I may have an alternative board "if" the board has corrosion damage. Doing some pre-work to help me determine if I want to invest in the game. If I have to spend $200 for a new alltek board the game would be worth less to me than if I could use my extra-35.

The -35 can be converted to a -200 thanks to barakandl
