I'm not a LOTR fan, so forgive me for not knowing all the character's name and whotnot.

I'm having issues with the tower in the back right corner that falls over during certain game modes.

When I picked up the game from the client, the coil was already disconnected.
I pulled the driver board, and someone did a pretty good hack job and butchered the board for that transistor.

I repaired their repairs, installed a new IRL540 in place of the toaster IRL540 that was already there.

In test mode, the coil fires, then fires a 2nd time and locks on, causing the fuse to blow and the FET to blow as well.

I am aware of the IRF540/IRL540 differences, and I am definitely using an IRL540.

I tested the coil, and I have 4 ohms.
The diode (remote mounted) was also replaced just for the hell of it just in case.

Unless my IRL540s are actually IRF540s, I have no idea what's going on.

I even rebuild the tower with a new sleeve and spring just in case.

My next step is to swap the now blown IRL540 with a known working original FET from another spot on the board.

Do your pop-bumpers all work properly?

1 of them had a burnt up coil, but I replaced the coil and all is well now with them.

Why do you ask about the pop bumpers?

I asked because my bottom pop-bumper was malfunctioning, causing strange behavior with the right tower. I fixed the pop-bumper issue and the tower works properly now. Part of the problem was a blown transistor. I believe the voltages controlling the pop-bumpers are related to the right tower voltage.
