Quoted from Captain_Kirk:

Money is money.....Sony wouldn't care about that.

Sure they would, the amount of money from the pinball license for Spider Man to Sony is minuscule compared to the brand awareness, and the movies have "moved on" from the Maguire series.

That's one of the drawbacks of the all licensed titles strategy, you're relying on the licensors to allow you to rerun popular stuff. My guesses for people who are still on board would be Simpsons and then another run of TRON standard (but only if they do release another film).

Quoted from vid1900:

I'd like to see Catacomb or Seawitch priced like The Pin.
They are simpler than games like The Pin, so it should be no problem to hit that price point.

This would certainly be cool, but does Stern own all of the "Stern classic" IP?

Quoted from goatdan:

I always LOVE all of the licensing comments!

Can *anyone* tell me based on the comments about how hard it is to get licenses why this version of the Batmobile could be purchased on Toys R Us shelves as recently as about 6 months ago when I bought mine? Batman has been rebooted either two or three times since then, depending on how you look at it, and they in NO way resemble the Batman world that was presented when this was relevant. ...

I think Batman has only been rebooted once since then, and the reboot was more successful. The (most recent) Spiderman reboot has been generally viewed as happening way too fast and was something of a flop compared to the previous films, so I'm sure Sony is extra sensitive about it. Not that it means there's no way they'd run the pin again, but there are certainly different considerations for the licensing of a $5 toy and a $5000 toy.

I can confirm* that the upcoming TRON Premiums will have all of the LE features except the plaque and will also include two brand new modes. There will be a new board / wiring revision to make sure stinky Pro and LE owners can't upgrade to the new software.

*In the sense that I just made it up.

Quoted from Rarehero:

"The Dude & Daft Punk Trip Balls in Computer Land"

That's a pretty kick-ass sounding movie right there! I'd watch that in IMAX.

90% of these superhero blockbusters are dumber than a particularly dim bit of dirt, but they can still make good pinball themes. Stern should start licensing the Rifftrax audio to go along with their pins.
