Quoted from zaki:

I played g n r le, honest opinion, its just ok. Long ball times, way to easy to get extra balls, slings and shooter rod too soft. Plays 'light' like other jjp games. Not sure concert video adds anything. I think led zeppelin could be better.

Not having played GnR but watched videos where people were walking away didn’t know the ball was saved one guy did it like 3 times on one game.

I’ll say tho things like ball save timer and extra ball and add a ball can be adjusted in menu.

I’m thinking about getting a SE without the upper PF the ball shouldn’t stop as often and may flow better and faster. Imo.

Quoted from BallyKISS1978:

Waiting to see some GNR SE game play videos and impressions. Won’t fork over near $10k shipped for a LE. Will wait to see what Stern offers on a Zep pin before making another NIB purchase.

100%. GnR LE looks great (art, lights etc..) but the game is heavily geared towards casual players with 26+ multi ball modes. I was watching one video and they guy was just playing doing normal stuff and all the sudden a multi ball was engaged (was for lights, noise or crank it up or something) there was not really any buildup just bam here is another ball in play.

I'm not saying GnR is bad because it looks great and is a huge seller for JJP so it was a success but to me it looks more geared towards casual players rather than experienced owners.

I still want the GnR but $9800 is a ton of money and the price of a SE is less than a Stern premium and I think the SE will flow better, I really don't love most upper PFs.

Hoping that I can play GnR LE or SE soon to determine but right now hard call for almost $10K.

I actually wanted to see about their song catalogue because neither has been together that long (or in the case of GnR they only had a few true albums).

Anyway I found two lists, but had 87 songs and both had a good number of stinkers (yes, I am a big LZ fan but they did have a good number of stinkers towards the end).

Neither one has an extensive 400+ song catalogue like the Stones over 50 years.

Can’t believe people are arguing about a pin that doesn’t even exist.

Hopefully it’ll have “When the Levee Breaks”

Quoted from Pinchild:

Stern pinball isn't even on the same planet as JJP.
It's like comparing a Williams to a Gottlieb.
JJP are built better and are much much deeper in gameplay.
This does not mean I don't like Stern I just think they don't put as much time/effort into there games.

Not sure exactly if JJP are much deeper in gameplay. Many Stern games are very deep.

Quoted from cpr9999:

The money we are putting out for these games we need to see more besides “it’s a Stern with open playfield and it shoots fast”. If this is path lower the cost!

It’s crazy imo the price for what you’re getting. I look at Iron Man VE it’s practically has as much stuff on the PF as a god damn LZ LE which costs twice as much. I realize there has been some inflation in the few years since Iron Man and the new Sterns have large displays and better sound but I’m thinking if Iron Man was released today it could pass for a premium.

Quoted from beelzeboob:

But I actually think LZ looks like more fun to play than GNR...and isn't that what pinball's about? That's the problem with Pinside...an overreliance on amount of toys and artwork. I'll take empty and ugly with awesome gameplay any day of the week. AFM is the perfect example of this - that cabinet is simple as shit and has an empty (and ugly IMO) playfield, but one of the greatest games ever.

I agree. To me GnR was trying something new not pinball experience but Rock Concert (Guitar Hero game). I didn’t like playing the game.

For me on a cheesesteak you can not go wrong with just mayo and mushrooms. Trust me, it’s the best.

No Mayo

Quoted from beelzeboob:

I was thinking more about this while driving. But I really think I'm right here. 4 ramps versus 2, and they're metal vs plastic. 2 spinners vs none. There's a lot more in LZ. But I think we've been spoiled with a lot of the games that have come out and expect a packed playfield every time. Otherwise we feel ripped off.
Were people arguing over this stuff in the 90s? I can just imagine them A/B'ing two games like TZ and AFM and saying how much more value you were getting from TZ.
The argument would have been ridiculous then and it's ridiculous now. Both are great games for different reasons. It's just that now games are so expensive, everybody's suddenly become an accountant when it comes to getting your money's worth. At the end of the day, you're still purchasing fun and entertainment. Nothing else. And it certainly shouldn't be viewed as an investment, or you're just a fool.

AFM has 3 ramps with part metal. Arguably the moving Martins and moving Saucer are better than any toy in LZ.
