Folks who cant name any Led Zeppelin songs must have never used a radio before.

#327 3 years ago
Quoted from Hazoff:

Worst music in human history has to be right now. Try to deny it, go ahead.

You're not wrong, that's for sure.

Migos, anyone?

#375 3 years ago

Judas Priest would be way better suited for pinball than any of these pop bands.

Firepower III: featuring Judas Priest. Make it happen, Stern brains.

Quoted from BallyKISS1978:Not a fan of Iron Maiden and grew up in the 70’s and 80’s. But I loved the IM pin. If I was a bigger fan of IM the pin would be in my living room.
Big Zeppelin fan since I was a kid, but have reservations on it. Maiden albums have killer art work that translates perfectly to a pin and anything else, Zeppelin’s art work not so much and kinda bland.
Worried if Zeppelins music is hard enough for a pin? I know they are not soft rock and do have some great songs like Rock n Roll, Black Dog, and Misty Mountain Hop that rock, but are they are enough to get the heart pumping playing a pin?
Would love to see a Motley Crue pin or a 80’s metal band compilation pin with Twisted Sister, Accept, Sabbath, Slayer, Quiet Riot, Crue, Anthrax, Motörhead, ect. Licensing nightmare but one can dream.

You grew up in the 70s, yet you lump Sabbath into the '80s metal band compilation' idea? C'mon man!

Zeppelin wished they could write music and lyrics like Tony and Geezer did.

Quoted from TheLaw:

I guess 4 flippers, drops, & spinners don't cut it anymore.

But where is the INNOVATION!?

#427 3 years ago
Quoted from Hazoff:

Stripped down PF? never heard that before.
The music. A Zeppelin fan doesn't like this. Interesting.

Zeppelin is the 'safe zone' of hard rock and Maiden is too 'hair metal' for some.

#436 3 years ago
Quoted from BallyKISS1978:

typical fan boy response. Many bands started in the 70’s and carried over into the 80’s and Sabbath is a band that did and I like some of their music. But Sabbath wishes they had Zeppelin’s success especially after Ozzy left them. Zeppelin is still popular even though they broke up in the 80’s after Bonham died and they still are making money and apparently more money to be made since they are making a Zep pin and not a Sabbath one.
Regardless who is the better song writer, Zeppelin will always be above Sabbath too many people. Led Zeppelin far outsells Black Sabbath, and almost any other band in history, with 200 million records sold worldwide. ... Black Sabbath, in comparison, has sold 80 million records worldwide, throughout their 49 year career. Not bad for a band who apparently sucks at writing music and we’re together from only 1968 to 1980..

Typical fan boy response? Get your facts straight before you ramble on in your posts.

I can tell you're just an old radio-hit simpleton and music doesnt mean anything to you, when you bring up things like 'most people' and 'made the most money.' GTFO.

Quoted from o-din:

It's what happens when 80s kids suddenly become experts on the 60s and 70s.

It's what happens when commercialism tells them what to like, how to think, and what the next pinball theme should be!

#443 3 years ago
Quoted from o-din:

You mean, they didn't have this hanging on their bedroom wall like we did?[quoted image]

I used to have this one on the wall as a kid. Had to find the image of it in google. It was one of my favorite posters.

I have the Sabbath one still, that one survived, but that doesnt really matter because 'most people' and 'less money' blah blah blah or something like that.

Well played, boob.

if you like Zep you most likely like Sabbath and to pick a tune from either and say its the best is like picking up flyshit out of pepper on white paper with boxing gloves on..

Quoted from HEAD_boss_HOG:

Steve Ritchie vs. Eric Meunier? I'll take Eric, sight unseen.

If I really had to choose just one, i'll take SR's pins, which still stand against the test of time and hold more charm than the 'world-under-glass' flavors of the month.

Quoted from Hazoff:

u thought wrong, we are very polite and yeah on the surface quite peaceful. But don't push, look at our national sport, we smash each and occasionally beat the shit out of each other.

Take 'em to the Hart Dungeon lol

#496 3 years ago
Quoted from Hazoff:

Need to get rid of Rock n Roll. God damn I hate that song.

One of the rare songs they didn't rip off and it's very basic at best!

Just kidding fellas! Led Zeppelin is great... but Sabbath is better.

Quoted from Dr-pin:

Seems there is no competiton.
Jjp won by default.
Stern with another generic no soul effort.

Sorry, Dr pin, but your diagnosis is a bit premature!

#631 3 years ago
Quoted from BallPin:

hitting a spinner isn't exactly my idea of cool factor

It's pinball... spinners will always be cool.

Sorry it's not a toy overload for some. And sorry it's soooo uncool.

I'm just looking for a good shooter with some good rules.

Zeppelin music won't hurt, either. They're no Sabbath, but i'll take it.

#637 3 years ago
Quoted from BallPin:

GnR has the best spinners on any music pin, so if it's spinner you like then GnR with another "W".

Blackout and High Speed have the best spinners of any pinball machine, but those are probably too old and boring for you.

Not sure you even like pinball. You only like images and cool factors and whatever commercial pop culture overload that you so deperately need to make pinball machines less boring to you.

Never said any pin spoke to me, nor do I cheer for any side. I just dig pinball in general. Never hated on Gn'R either.

Quoted from romulusx:

I realize the restraints the property holders placed on them, but like some many art knowledgeable folks have already stated here they did a crap job using what was given them to work with!

It's not always about features and toys and "worlds under glass." Sometimes all it takes for some of us is a good layout, good rules, and a rockin' soundtrack with some throwback images. Not everything needs to be a gadget fest and media overload.

Some of the greatest pinball machines of all time, make bleep and bloop sounds and let the artwork speak to the imagination of the player, while playing some "barren" layout.

Sometimes, that's all it takes for some folks to enjoy pinball. Amazing how that's so hard to grasp.

As far as pricing goes, no one is being forced to buy it. If it's too much, there's PLENTY of other options out there at fractions of the cost of todays NIB pins. This is especially good for people who can appreciate non-commercial themes!

I know i'm not buying one, but I sure as hell cant wait to play it.

#738 3 years ago
Quoted from thechakapakuni:

Name a barren pinball game you’d buy for $8K let alone $10k. This less is more doesn’t really hold water. I have fun playing my $950 1979 Genie, and at $950 it’s under priced. Nobody disagrees that toys and levels don’t make a great pin. But to say those take away from flow or a pins value is just silly.
IJTPA is thiccc, double stacked, and flows and why it’s worth more than most new pins today. How about we just agree that pins with more included in them are more expensive to make and therefore we expect them to cost more. If a pin is a street level pin and doesn’t include a lot of stuff, we expect them to be less expensive because they were cheaper to make. It’s basic accounting here. it could have the greatest code in the world and that’s not going to add up to a $10k pin if it’s barren. LZ is a $6500 pin, $7K tops even if it has AFM fun & best code ever.
If you’re an LZ fan and you have $20k laying around, you’ll pay $20K. Doesn’t mean it’s worth it to the rest of the pinball world

Never said toys took away from a pins value. Im just saying some folks dont get all bent out of shape if theyre few or missing. We can handle it not being there. And if some wanna spend the asking price (which they seem to be) then it is what it is.

"Doesnt mean its worth it to the rest of the pinball world"

So why let it bother you?

Quoted from BallyKISS1978:

I have not been lucky enough to play a GNR sadly. First off I am a huge LZ fan. My wife and I got to play a LZ pro on Thursday. I kept my final opinion till I played one. Was not a fan of the art work but in person I definitely like the playfield much more in person. Only gripe I have are the sling shots. Not at all horrible, but they should have put the hermit or something else there.
I really liked the cabinet art in person on the pro. I definitely prefer it to the premium as of now. Sucks that the art blades and lights are not on the pro. The removable slots on the sides and plain black definitely not all that great looking next to the playfield art.
The music unfortunately was not turned up all that loud at all so can’t really give an opinion on the quality of the tracks. The sound effects when you hit the targets and all really sounded awesome and I loved it. Definitely a surprise for me in person.
Didn’t really get to see the animations while playing and same when my wife was. I was watching her play. I did like the song select screen like a jukebox. The call outs were good but not great. Bland British accent call outs but I watch a lot of BBC so not horrible and I still liked it.
On the pro, the 3rd flipper kinda seems useless to me. Really didn’t add much to the game for me. Sucks the ramp on the premium was removed. Should have been on the pro also.
I had a fair amount of SDTM when launching the ball with the button on the lockdown bar. Had a few also when the ball didn’t have enough power to go up the middle ramp.
It definitely played smooth, not as smooth as butter like EHOH though. The open playfield did not bother me at all like my initial impressions. I loved the flow of the game and the SR openness I worried about was no longer an issue for me, and I have BKSOR premium and I love it.
I didn’t get many long ball playing times unfortunately and that sucks when it’s a buck a game. But first time playing it and I am far from a pro and didn’t have my aim dialed in since I only played it 6 times.
Hitting Icarus was not all that satisfying for me but liked the sound effect when you hit it. Also wish the zeppelin was a physical lock instead of a virtual one, but hitting the ramp to get it was still fun to hit, but not as fun as locking it in the catapult on BKSOR.
At this point I am definitely leaning more to getting LZ, but still not leaning towards NIB and not sure if premium is worth the extra cost since I didn’t get to play one and I prefer the artwork on the pro. And will wait and see what stern does for the EM spinner issue.
I really wanted to love this pin, but at this point I really like it. Not sure if I would have had some buyers remorse TBH if I bought NIB. Possibly some if I am to be honest because I had higher expectations prior to reveal.
I will most likely pick one up used at some point. But for now my deposit for EHOH is going nowhere unless Stern cancels or Godzilla is announced and blows me away.
Just my opinion and for me I give LZ a 7/10 at this point. Not perfect, but pretty good.
