Quoted from Hayfarmer:

Stuff happens, to both games. Damn, be happy with your purchase no matter which game we buy.

NO! You can't do that...don't you know if you bought LZ you're clearly an idiot? We're so stupid we can't even understand what they're trying to tell us.

#1952 3 years ago
Quoted from beelzeboob:

Thank you...you beat me to it. If it's an opposing opinion, it's the same old ground. If it's his opinion, it's fact. And what some people are too narrow-minded to see is that I just gave a bunch of complements to the game they keep creaming their jeans over. But I complement LZ and I'm clearly an idiot.
You learn quickly what kind of people you're dealing with around here.

This is a vs thread so this is war boy!The compliments are gas lighting bullshit. This thread is over and GnR won !Maybe next year Stern will win?

Thank you for marginalizing my opinion; by doing so you've really opened my eyes to what is important in life. You are truly the best of what Pinside has to offer and I so appreciate your wisdom and insight into what I should like. Clearly I'm not paying enough attention to the professionals in this hobby that vote on toys for an invented awards show. (There's an invented holiday as well, but I suppose I'm wrong in not paying attention to that, either.) I'll have to put more of my valuable time aside and give the opinions of others some serious consideration going forward.

I am deeply chastened, humbled, and more apologetic than you'll ever know. Thank you so much for setting me straight.

I re read all the gnr arguments and I have to agree. Even with the missing, wrong parts and all the adjustments needed just to play, I think gnr is the way to go

All fine and dandy but can’t compare the LZ pro to the GNR LE.
That member who has LZLE and GNR CE is probably the only person who owns and has played both a bunch.
Report back after you play the LZ PRE/LE, I think you will like the additional features and what will probably be the second best light show ever in pinball which isn’t a bad thing or shitty quality.
Can’t wait to get mine this week!

You’re Steve Ritchie aren’t you? Come on, fess up

My guess is people who love LZ will enjoy the game. I love their music and at some point I might pick up a nice HUO Prem or LE. The pro looks like it would get boring fast, but I bet it does well on location. As an owner of all the JJP games, all I can say is it takes 30+ games to really start understanding whats going on as there are so many shots, and rules are very very complex and deep.

Your description is very accurate of JJP games and that is part of the problem. For the average person, super deep rules is a major turn off.

For a die hard at home it’s fantastic.

Pinside's forum is moving further and further away from pinball players, game strategies, and technical help and more towards dolls, toppers, subwoofers, fanboy cheerleaders, podcasts, award shows, and outright trolls. Great format, great site (thanks Robin!) but it's a shame players are leaving due to all the noise.

Right? Does anyone around here play anymore? I scroll this forum for about 20-30 minutes a day in between games and play all night every day of the week. Not sure if I’m just wading into the wrong threads or what but god damn, there’s so many trolls/dolts/crybabies around here it’s getting off-putting. I think pinball is amazing fun and I look forward to playing every day. Oh well, I’m in the mood for a game of Stars.

And we’re die hard at home so yeah they’re fantastic.I loved High Speed 2 and I had a beautiful example but it got repetitive pretty quick. That’s why games like Wonka JP and GnR appeal to me.

Epic style games have their place. So do ass kicking fast games. personally i gravitate towards the games i can jump on for 10-15mins at a time. Nice thing about pinball is there's something for everyone.

I can see your point. If u have the game at home and have the time to play game after game than they are hard to beat. Im on the fence on whether its a pro or a con. The pro is u can play the game for months and discover all kinds of new things. The con is if u don't play all the time u forget the rules. This is one of the reasons I love MM, and AFM so much. Rules are super simple to understand yet the game isn't easy to beat.

It is what it is, I love pinball and play a good bit at home but when I have my buddies over and the majority aren’t pinheads we don’t play POTC much. It’s just too much for the average person to digest in smaller samples.

It’s not good or bad just what I’ve noticed.

Same here....try explaining Wonka or POTC rules to newbies.....zero chance .... actually Williams IJ gets the most play at my house ...

Yeah love that game, if you think of the era it was built and everything in that game from a theme integration standpoint it’s truly amazing. It’s the number one game ever for me.

Every LZ song, including those on Coda, are masterpieces compared to "This I Love" by GNR. Holy crap is that song horrible, especially in a pinball machine. I can't believe they put that on there.

#1977 3 years ago

I’m enjoying the hell out of my lowly GNR SE and I’m gonna put down a deposit on a LZ Premium on Monday. The priciest game in my collection is a Quicksilver which has the least amount of stuff in it and the skimpiest code... but man do I love playing it. LZ looks fun, GNR is fun... I’m always gonna choose fun regardless of the BOM or amount of coils or RGB lights and it’s worked out pretty well for me so far.

Aside from disliking the Beatles Boob is an OK guy and I hope he sticks around a little longer so I can have one other person to geek out over LZ with!

#1978 3 years ago

I think the gnr se is a fine way to go

Just got a Beatles myself recently and it’s really fun. We all make mistakes Boob. I’m also considering a GNR but the SE looks more my style as it seams like it would play faster and shoot better. Outside of Flash Gordon and ACNC I really dislike upper and lower playfields. How does the SE shoot? I know the lighting is downgraded but after 20 plays I don’t even care about that stuff.

The fact that you’ve been here for 9 years and haven’t contributed to the site is definitely your fault. I’m not here to stir shit up or argue with some nerd I’ve never met. If you want to pull your pants down and go to town on your JJP games coin return slot have at it. There’s just a lot of good pinball people that are leaving because this place is turning into Facebook.

I don’t want to derail the thread but I was in a league and my brother and I were talking to the tech and he made a joke (I think?) about what he did to the Bride of Pinbot after they closed the place up every night. It was way too graphic and I will never own a BOP as I’ll never look at that playfield without cringing haha.

I don't know, I think that shit's funny. But I've been told my sense of humor is shockingly hilarious, catching the old lady's gasp, then laugh uncontrollably. That's when the porn music starts.
